Investigation of Simple Shape Descriptors for NACA 4 Digit Airfoils
This study aims to define new simple shape descriptors to analyze airfoils. The ImageJ platform is used to calculate twelve different shape descriptors such as area, convex hull, contour temperature and solidity by performing image processing. One of the most important findings is that an increase in the thickness of an airfoil leads to corresponding increases in its area, perimeter, area of minimum enclosing area, and convex hull area. Another noteworthy discovery is that the values derived from these basic features, either increasing or decreasing. Simple shape features in the study are not used independently, as they do not possess distinct characteristics that set them apart from one another. Machine learning and deep learning applications can achieve greater success when these features are combined with other elements. The combination of these features with other shape attributes, such as chain code histograms, shape signatures, and central moments, can enhance the success of machine learning and deep learning applications
Sustainable electrocatalyst for PEM water electrolyzers
Water electrolysis represents a key technological advancement for the sustainable production of hydrogen by harnessing renewable electrical energy. The Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Water Electrolyzer (PEMWE) stands out for its superior performance and dynamic response in converting chemical energy into hydrogen. This functionality positions PEMWE as an ideal solution for meeting the intermittent nature of clean energy sources and the demands of the electrical grid over various periods and scales. The growing interest in PEMWE technology is driven by the pressing imperative to tackle the energy and environmental crises precipitated by the extensive reliance on fossil fuels. PEMWE faces challenges with slow reaction kinetics, leading to inefficient energy conversion. Enhancing charge and mass transfer through innovative electrocatalysis at the electrode-electrolyte interface is essential for boosting energy efficiency and ensuring the longevity of such technologies. Current research is aimed at creating sustainable electrocatalysts for critical reactions like oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), which are essential for advancing PEMWE. This review examines the latest progress in developing sustainable electrocatalysts for large-scale PEMWE applications. We cover the state of electrocatalyst technology, the hurdles in creating sustainable options, new approaches in electrocatalysis, emerging materials, and their environmental and economic impacts. Future research directions to facilitate PEMWE's large-scale application with improved efficiency, durability, and cost-effectiveness are also discussed. © The Author(s). All rights reserved

The Role of Energy Consumption and Economic Growth on Human Development in Emerging (E-7) Countries: Fresh Evidence from Second-Generation Panel Data Analyses
This study aims to examine the impacts of energy consumption and economic growth on the human development index of seven emerging countries (E-7) with high economic performance for yearly observations from 1992 to 2021. The analyses were carried out with second -generation panel data analyses: (i) Panel cointegration test with structural breaks proposed by Westerlund (2006), (ii) augmented mean group estimator recommended by Eberhardt and Bond (2009), and (iii) Dumitrescu and Hurlin (2012) panel causality test. The empirical model also included trade openness and urbanization parameters as control variables. The panel cointegration test outcomes reveal the presence of a long -run relation among the human development index and energy consumption, economic growth, urbanization, and trade openness for all countries. Augmented mean group test outcomes signify that energy consumption, economic growth, and trade openness have positive and statistically significant impacts on the human development index, whereas urbanization does not have any statistically significant impact in the longrun. Finally, panel causality test results signify that there is a bidirectional relation between the human development index and energy consumption, economic growth, and trade openness and also a unidirectional relation from urbanization to the human development index in E-7 countries. All these findings indicate that the main macroeconomic indicators have an important role on the human development index in E-7 countries. In this context, these countries should implement a more effective and innovative economic policy for Sustainable development goals

Modeling the Change in Amino Acid and Peptide Contents during the Aging of Bottled-Fermented Sparkling Wines by Image Processing Methods
In this study, natural sparkling wine was produced using a mixture (1:1) of Emir and Dimrit grapes harvested (Around the Urgup District of Turkey). The change of free amino acid and peptide contents in sparkling wine depending on the aging time and yeasts (free and immobilized forms of the Saccharomyces bayanus and Saccharomyces oviformis) used in the second fermentation stage were examined by image processing methods. The immobilized yeasts were determined as more than the free ones along the second fermentation. It was also determined that the yeast type does not have a significant effect on both the peptides and free amino acid contents of sparkling wines and these contents were divided into 3 classes from high to low by measuring separately along the aging time. The amino acid contents of sparkling wines reached the highest level between the 335th and 365th days of aging time and also exceeded the amino acid contents of base wine
