    No full text
PurposeThis article explores how firms' unresponsiveness to Black customer feedback influences Black (vs. White) customers' perceived firm-based discrimination and brand engagement.Design/methodology/approachTwo experimental studies (Study 1(N1) = 254) and Study 1(N2) = 484) are conducted to test the modeled relationships. The data are analyzed using ANOVA, PROCESS Model 4 and PROCESS Model 7.FindingsThe findings suggest that though perceived discrimination remains modest in all conditions, Black (vs. White) respondents report higher perceived discrimination when the firm fails to respond to a Black customer's negative or neutral (but not positive) brand-related feedback on social media. The results also indicate that Black (vs. White) customers exhibit lower engagement through perceived discrimination in the case of the firm's unresponsiveness to a Black customer's negative and neutral (but not positive) brand-related feedback regardless of the manager's race.Originality/valuePrior research on intercultural service encounters and ethnic differences in consumer engagement on social media are combined to examine the relationship between customer race and perceived discrimination based on the firm's unresponsiveness to customers' social media posts.Research limitations/implicationsManipulations were created based on a fictitious e-tailer. Thus, it is recommend that future researchers examine the extent to which the findings hold for existing (r)etailers. In addition, future studies using secondary data could provide additional evidence for the findings.Practical implicationsManagerial attention is accentuated among customer feedback responsiveness, engagement and perceived firm discrimination. Managers are encouraged to adopt communication strategies that complement the firm's strategy and social media presence

This study determined the use of medicinal plants as an alternative therapeutic approach in Turkey. Moreover, the study identified the specific ailments for which these plants are employed and the corresponding proportion of usage. Data was collected by face to face interview with using a structured questionnaire form in all regions of Turkey. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used in data analysis. According to the research findings, approximately 65.4% of participants use medicinal plants into their treatment regime, asserting their significant benefits. Furthermore, it is posited that the consumption of medicinal plants has witnessed an upsurge during the Covid-19 epidemic. The participants' attitudes towards medicinal plants are directly influenced by their level of knowledge, convenience and perceived usefulness. The study reveals that participants possess awareness of approximately 200 medicinal plants. Among the most well-known plants are garlic (Allium sativum L.), vera L.), linden (Colocasia esculenta L.), nettle (Achillea millefolium L.), and sage (Salvia officinalis L.). The most critical determinant fort he prevalence of medicinal plant consumption appears to be individuals' positive beliefs regarding their efficacy in curing diseases. Additionally, promoting knowledge about medicinal plants is deemed essential in fostering informed and conscientious consumption practices

The structural, elastic, electronic, phonon, thermo-physical, and optical properties of hexagonal-type X2N (X = Mn, Tc, and Re) compounds were studied within the framework of density functional theory using the generalized gradient approximation (GGA). The obtained lattice parameter values were in good agreement with the literature. To investigate the mechanical stability of the studied compounds, the elastic constant values of the three compounds were calculated and from these values, some stiffness constant values such as Bulk (317.49 GPa, 339.29 GPa, and 401.57 GPa for Mn2N, Tc2N, and Re2N, respectively), Young's (443.14 GPa, 438.11 GPa, and 542.84 GPa for Mn2N, Tc2N, and Re2N, respectively), Shear modulus (174.83 GPa, 170.50 GPa, and 212.93 GPa for Mn2N, Tc2N, and Re2N, respectively) values, and Poisson's ratio (0.27, 0.28, and 0.27 for Mn2N, Tc2N, and Re2N, respectively), were also obtained. According to the calculated elastic constant values, all compounds are mechanically stable and ductile. In addition, the atoms are interconnected by ionic bonding. Electronic band structure calculation was performed to reveal the types of materials. All compounds were found to have metallic character due to the absence of a band gap. Phonon calculation was also performed, which gives information about the dynamic stability of the materials. X2N (X = Mn, Tc, and Re) compounds were found to be dynamically stable since they have no negative branches. Thermophysical analyses revealed that Mn2N has the highest Debye temperature of 760 K, thus indicating strong chemical bonding and high thermal conductivity. Finally, in optical investigations, the reflectivity, absorption, and optical conductivity properties of X2N compounds were evaluated in detail, and it was found that these compounds have high absorption properties in the ultraviolet region.Osmaniye Korkut Ata University under Scientific Research Project (BAP) [OKUBAP-2023-PT1-005]This study was supported by the Osmaniye Korkut Ata University under Scientific Research Project (BAP) No: OKUBAP-2023-PT1-00

    No full text
This study aims to analyze the efficiency of Ministry of Health, university, and private hospitals in Türkiye between 2002 and 2023 using the Pabon Lasso Model. To evaluate hospital efficiency, the indicators of Bed Occupancy Rate (BOR), Bed Turnover Rate (BTR), and Average Length of Stay (ALOS) were utilized. Data were obtained from the Ministry of Health’s Health Statistics Yearbook (2023). The collected data were organized using Excel software, and the Pabon Lasso Graph was applied during the analysis process. Three different hospital types were assessed by dividing the period into phases within the framework of the Pabon Lasso Model. It was determined that the efficiency of Ministry of Health hospitals improved between 2007 and 2019 with the implementation of the Health Transformation Program, but performance declined during the 2020–2023 period due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. University hospitals were generally positioned in Region IV throughout the analysis period, characterized by high bed occupancy rates and low turnover rates. Private hospitals, on the other hand, demonstrated a stable efficiency profile within the boundaries of Region II after 2005, achieving rapid patient turnover through agreements with the Social Security Institution despite low bed occupancy rates. Hospital efficiency in Türkiye exhibits significant variation across hospital types. The Health Transformation Program substantially improved efficiency, particularly in Ministry of Health and private hospitals, while the COVID-19 pandemic led to temporary setbacks. These findings underscore the necessity for institution-specific strategic planning and the development of flexible and adaptive health policies
