    Patient Experiences in Managing Chronic Illness After the 2023 Kahramanmaraş Earthquake in Türkiye: A Qualitative Study

    The primary purpose of this study is to determine the experiences of individuals with chronic illnesses related to managing their illnesses after the February 6, 2023, Kahramanmara & scedil; earthquake in T & uuml;rkiye. This study was conducted using phenomenological methodology. The study employed purposeful and criterion sampling, and 12 participants were included. Data were collected using an in-depth interview technique and a semi-structured interview form. The data obtained showed that the central theme of the study was the earthquake process and that the data was analyzed in three categories: factors affecting illness management, changes in health status, and methods of coping with problems. Various problems are experienced regarding managing chronic illnesses in the post-earthquake period. These problems leave short- or long-term adverse effects on the individual or social level

    Processes applied to whole sorghum flour: effects on technological, antioxidant and sensory properties of gluten-free cakes

    Although a variety of gluten-free products based on sorghum flour have been developed in Brazil, the sensory attributes of some of these products, can still be improved. Thus, the aim of this study was to apply different pretreatments (roasting, cooking, extrusion) to sorghum flour and evaluate their effect on improving the technological and sensory properties of gluten-free sorghum cakes. As bioactive compounds can be affected by treatments, antioxidant properties were also evaluated. Five cake formulations were produced with BRS305 whole sorghum flours: raw (RSF), toasted (TSF), a blend of toasted and raw (RTSF), cooked (CSF) and extruded (ESF), and a control made with raw rice flour. The formulation containing RSF stood out from the others, exhibiting greater height, less firmness (greater softness), lightest color (among sorghum formulations), greater sensory acceptance and purchase intention, besides higher antioxidant capacity (AC), total phenolic compounds (TPC) and 3-deoxyanthocyanidins contents. The CSF and ESF formulations presented the worst results in almost all characteristics. TSF and RTSF cakes also showed high AC (> 93%) and TPC (> 84%) retentions, even after undergoing two thermal processes (roasting and baking). CSF retained, respectively, 29.2 and 51.6% of AC and TPC, highlighting that the moist heat degrades sorghum bioactive compounds. Thus, pretreatments used in sorghum flour promoted losses in the antioxidant properties of gluten-free cakes and did not improve their physical and sensory characteristics.     Turkish Validity and Reliability Study on the Information Needs in Percutaneous Coronary Artery Intervention Scale (NCPI-10-TR)

    Objective: The objective of this study was twofold: firstly, to adapt the Information Needs Scale for Percutaneous Coronary Artery Intervention into Turkish, and secondly, to test the validity and reliability of the scale. Materials and Methods: A methodological study was conducted with 200 patients who submitted application forms to the angiography unit of a university hospital and who subsequently consented to participate in the study. The study period ran from 1 August 2021 to 28 February 2022. The data collected for the study were collected face-to-face using two instruments. These were the \"Patient Questionnaire Form\" and the Turkish form of the \"Information Needs Scale in Percutaneous Coronary Artery Intervention\" scale. Results: In order to ascertain the internal consistency structure of the Turkish form of the scale, the item-total score correlation was examined. It was found that the Cronbach alpha internal consistency coefficient of the scales was 0.98 for the importance level of the need to be informed and 0.98 for the degree of fulfilment. The item-total score correlation values of the scale ranged from 0.75 to 0.92 for the importance level and from 0.78 to 0.95 for the degree of fulfilment. According to the Guttman Split-Half Coefficient, the correlation value between the two half-item means was found to be 0.930, and the Guttman Split-Half Coefficient was found to be 0.957. Conclusions: It was ascertained that the Turkish iteration of the Percutaneous Coronary Artery Intervention Information Needs Scale (NCPI-10-TR) possesses adequate validity and reliability indicators in determining information needs in percutaneous coronary intervention, as determined by the degree of importance attributed to information requirements and the degree to which these requirements are met in coronary artery patients

    In this paper, complete weight enumerators, the symmetrized weight enumerators and the Lee weight enumerators for the linear codes over the ring S = Z4 + uZ4 + vZ4, where u2 = v2 = uv = vu = 0 are defined. The MacWilliams identity denotes an identity between a linear code and its dual code on their weight distribution. We classify elements of S into seven classes and study MacWilliams identities of linear codes over S.     The effects of organic liquid fertilizer and different doses of chicken manure treatments in strawberry cultivation

    Bu çalışma, farklı dozda pelet tavuk gübresi ve organik sıvı gübre uygulamalarının Monterey çeşit çilek bitkisinin vejetatif gelişimi, verim, meyve kalitesi ve yaprak besin element içerikleri üzerine olan etkilerini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Kök uzunluğu, kök kalınlığı, gövde çapı gibi bitki büyüme parametreleri, bitki başına verim (g bitki−1), ortalama meyve ağırlığı (g), meyvede pH, SÇKM, Asit, SÇKM/Asit, makro ve mikro besin element içerikleri incelenmiştir. Çalışmada, organik gübre uygulaması yapılan çilek bitkilerinin gelişimi, verim, meyve kalitesi ve yapraklardaki besin elementi içeriği kontrole göre daha yüksek bulunmuştur. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre, "300 kg da−1 tavuk gübresi + organik sıvı gübre" uygulaması en yüksek toplam verim (329.98 g bitki−1), meyve ağırlığı (17.79 g) ve SÇKM ile en uzun kök ve en kalın gövdeyi sağlamıştır. Yapraktaki azot, fosfor, potasyum, kalsiyum, magnezyum, demir ve çinko içerikleri bakımından en iyi sonuçlar yine aynı uygulamada elde edilmiştir. Tavuk gübresinin dekara 300 kg dozu, dekara 150 kg dozuna göre çilek bitkisinin verim ve meyve kalitesini iyileştirmede daha etkili olmuştur.This research was carried out to reveal the effects of different doses of pelleted chicken manure and organic liquid fertilizer treatments on the vegetative development, yield, fruit quality, and leaf nutrient element contents of the Monterey variety strawberry plants. Plant growth parameters such as root length, root thickness, and stem diameter, along with yield per plant (g plant−1), average fruit weight (g), fruit pH, TSS, acidity, TSS/acidity ratio, and macro- and micronutrient contents were examined. The study found that organic fertilizer treatments resulted in higher plant growth, yield, fruit quality, and leaf nutrient content compared to the control. According to the research results, the treatment of "300 kg da−1 chicken manure + organic liquid fertilizer" provided the highest total yield (329.98 g plant−1), fruit weight (17.79 g) and TSS with the longest root, and the thickest stem. The best results in terms of leaf nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, and zinc contents were also acquired with the same treatment. The 300 kg per decare dose of chicken manure was more effective than the 150 kg per decare dose in improving the yield and fruit quality of strawberry plants

    JAK1/JAK2 inhibitor baricitinib ameliorates sepsis-induced acute kidney injury in rats

    Background: Baricitinib (Bar), used in the management of rheumatoid arthritis, is a selective inhibitor of JAK1/ JAK2. Studies have shown that it inhibits the intracellular signaling of many proinflammatory cytokines by suppressing STAT3 activation. Increased expression and activity of JAK1/JAK2 and STAT3 are associated with kidney damage. Here, we examined the effects of the JAK1/JAK2 inhibitor baricitinib (Bar) on kidney damage in a sepsis model created with cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) in rats. Methods: Rats were divided into four groups: control, CLP, CLP + Bar 3 mg kg- 1, and CLP + Bar 10 mg kg- 1. The cecum of animals to which CLP was applied was first ligated distally, then punctured with a needle to allow the fecal content to spread into the abdominal cavity. Two different doses of Bar (3 mg kg- 1, 10 mg kg- 1) were applied to the treatment groups. Biochemical examinations were performed on the sera of animals sacrificed 24 h after CLP, while histopathological and immunohistochemical examinations were performed on kidney tissue. Result

    Cutting of 316L stainless steel by plasma arc method and improvement of cutting quality

    16.03.2026 tarihine kadar kullanımı yazar tarafından kısıtlanmıştır.Bu çalışmada, 316L paslanmaz çeliklerin plazma ark yöntemiyle kesiminde akım, gerilim ve kesme hızı gibi parametrelerin kesim kalitesine etkisi detaylı şekilde incelenmiştir. Kesim kalitesi; yüzey pürüzlülüğü, kerf genişlikleri, kerf açısı, ısı tesiri altındaki bölge ve malzeme kaldırma oranı gibi kriterlerle değerlendirilmiştir. SWARA yöntemiyle belirlenen kriter ağırlıkları, CoCoSo, MABAC ve GİA gibi Çok Kriterli Karar Verme (ÇKKV) yöntemleriyle entegre edilerek hibrit yaklaşımlar oluşturulmuş ve kesim kalitesini iyileştirmek amacıyla karşılaştırılmıştır. Deney sonuçlarına göre, akım, gerilim ve kesme hızı arttıkça yüzey kalitesi azalmıştır. Kesme hızı arttıkça, akım ve gerilim azaldıkça kerf genişliği ve ısı tesiri altında kalan bölge azalmıştır. En düşük kerf açısı en yüksek kesme hızı ve akım ile en düşük gerilimde elde edilmiştir. En yüksek malzeme kaldırma oranı ise kesme parametrelerinin en yüksek seviyelerinde elde edilmiştir. Hibrit SWARA-CoCoSo, SWARA-MABAC ve SWARA-GİA yöntemlerinin tümünde en iyi deney koşulunu 3 numaralı deneyin (Akım: 130 A, Gerilim: 141 V ve Kesme Hızı: 1900 mm/dk) sağladığı hesaplanmıştır. Son olarak, Spearman'ın sıra korelasyon katsayı analizi ile üç farklı hibrit ÇKKV yaklaşımının arasındaki sıralama ilişkileri incelenmiş olup birbirleri ile uyumu %95'in üzerinde olduğu belirlenmiştir.In this study, the effects of cutting parameters such as current, voltage, and cutting speed on the cutting quality of 316L stainless steel using the plasma arc method were thoroughly investigated. Cutting quality was evaluated based on criteria such as surface roughness, kerf widths (top and bottom), kerf angle, heat-affected zone, and material removal rate. The criterion weights were determined using the SWARA method and integrated with CoCoSo, MABAC, and GRA multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methods to form hybrid approaches, which were compared to improve cutting quality. According to the experimental results, as current, voltage, and cutting speed increased, surface quality deteriorated. Higher cutting speeds and lower current and arc voltage led to reductions in kerf width and the heat-affected zone. The lowest kerf angle was achieved at the highest cutting speed and current, with the lowest voltage. The highest material removal rate was obtained at the maximum levels of cutting parameters. All three hybrid methods (i.e., SWARA-CoCoSo, SWARA-MABAC, and SWARA-GRA) identified the third experiment (130 A current, 141 V voltage, and 1900 mm/min cutting speed) as the optimal condition. Finally, Spearman's rank correlation coefficient analysis showed over 95% agreement among the ranking results of the three hybrid MCDM approaches

    Eco-friendly synthesis of CuO nanoparticles for VOC sensing: experimental and theoretical insights

    CuO nanoparticles were biosynthesized via an eco-friendly plant-mediated route, as confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analyses, and were employed as chemo-resistive sensors for volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The sensor exhibited a pronounced response to ethanol vapor, with sensitivity increasing from 421 to 3000% for ethanol concentrations ranging from 10 to 100 ppm at an optimal operating temperature of 240 degrees C. Characteristic p-type semiconductor behavior was observed, with sensor resistance increasing upon ethanol exposure. Cross-sensitivity tests showed responses of 571%, 400%, and 30% for 30 ppm of ethanol, acetone, and benzene, respectively. Monte Carlo simulations supported the adsorption affinity order of ethanol > acetone > > benzene on the CuO surface, which was attributed to stronger hydrogen bonding and surface interactions with ethanol molecules. The biosynthesized CuO sensor outperformed comparable materials in ethanol sensitivity while employing a greener synthesis method. Response and recovery times ranged from 4 to 8 min, with the prolonged recovery attributed to diffusion-limited desorption processes. These results highlight the potential of biosynthesized CuO nanoparticles as highly sensitive and selective ethanol gas sensors

    The issue of continuously absent students in the Turkish education system and the policies of the ministry of national education

    Eğitim-öğretim eskiden olduğu gibi dört duvar arasında yapılan bir iş değildir. Gelişen ve hızla değişen teknoloji eğitim-öğretimi, eğitim ve öğretimin veriliş biçimini, yöntemini de değiştirmiştir. Öğrenci merkezli eğitim-öğretime geçilmesiyle beraber eğitim-öğretimde öğrencinin aktif olduğu, öğretmenin ise eğitim-öğretim ortamında lider ve rehber olarak konumlandığı bir eğitim-öğretim ortamı oluşturulması gerekli görülmektedir. Eğitim-öğretim ortamlarında lider ve rehber olması beklenen öğretmenlerin kişisel ve mesleki gelişimlerinin yeterliliği eğitim-öğretimin kalitesini arttıracak nitekim bu durum öğrencilerin okulu daha fazla benimsemesine dolaylı olarak sürekli devamsızlık meselesinin çözümüne önemli katkılar sağlayacaktır. Sürekli devamsızlık öğrencilerin geçerli bir mazereti olmadan okula devam etmemesidir. Yapılan bilimsel araştırmalarda okula devamsızlık sorununun eğitim-öğretimi sekteye uğratan en önemli problemlerin başında geldiği ifade edilmektedir. Özellikle ülkemizde devamsızlık okullarda büyük bir problem olarak görülmektedir. Devamsızlık veli, öğrenci, öğretmen, okul yöneticileri, okulun bulunduğu sosyal çevre ve yerel yöneticiler gibi faktörlerin devamsızlık problemine etkileri açısından incelenmesi gereken bir sorundur. Sürekli devamsızlık problemi toplumun ekonomik, sosyal ve kültürel kalkınmasını olumsuz etkileyen bir durumdur. Sürekli devamsızlık çözümünde doğrudan veya dolaylı olarak etkileri bulunan veli, öğrenci, öğretmen, okul yöneticileri, okulun bulunduğu çevre sakinleri ve yerel yöneticilerin sorumluluklarının olduğu bir problemdir. Sürekli devamsız öğrenciler sorununa doğrudan etki eden unsurların başında aile, okul-sınıf ortamı, öğretmenler, okulun bulunduğu sosyal çevre ve okul yöneticileri gelmektedir. Çocuğun eğitimi ailede başlamaktadır. Aile bireyin ilk kez sosyalleştiği, dünyayı tanımaya başladığı, toplumsal düzeni, kuralları hissetmeye başladığı yerdir. Aile ortamından sonra birey okul ortamında sosyalleşmenin ikinci aşamasını geçirmektedir. Okul-sınıf ortamının, öğrencinin gelişim düzeyi, ilgi ve ihtiyaçlarına göre düzenlenmemesi, öğrencinin okula olan bağlılığını azaltmaya sebep olmaktadır. Bu noktada okul-sınıf ortamının, öğrencinin okula olan bağlılığını artırmasını sağlamaya yönelik düzenlenmesinde, öğretmen ve yöneticilere büyük görev düşmektedir. Ayrıca sınıf ortamının da öğrencinin ilgi ve ihtiyaçlarına göre düzenlenmesi öğrencinin okulu sevmesine ve dolayısıyla devamsızlık oranlarının azalmasına katkı sağlayacaktır. Devamsızlık problemini doğrudan etkileyen bir başka etken de okul yöneticilerinin öğrencilere olan tutum ve davranışlarıdır. Okul yöneticilerinin öğrencilere karşı tutum ve davranışları öğrencilerin okula olan bağlılığını etkilemektedir. Buna ek olarak okul yöneticilerinin okul ortamını öğrencilerin ilgi ve ihtiyaçlarına göre düzenlemeleri öğrencilerin okulu sevmesine ve dolayısıyla da devamsızlık meselesinin çözümüne katkı sağlayacaktır. Sürekli devamsızlık konusunda yapılan birçok çalışmanın belirli alanlarla sınırlandırıldığı görülmektedir. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemi benimsenmiş olup, birincil veriler olarak Osmaniye ilindeki şehir ve köy okullarının idarecileriyle yüz yüze görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Aynı zamanda politika belgeleri ve mevzuat ikincil veri olarak incelenmiş, döküman analizi tekniği çerçevesinde analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sürekli devamsız öğrenciler problemini etkileyen en önemli bulguların ailenin sosyoekonomik düzeyi ve parçalanmış aile yapısı olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.Education and training are not jobs that are done within four walls as they used to be. The developing and rapidly changing technology has also changed the way education and training are provided. With the transition to student-centered education and training, it is deemed necessary to create an education and training environment where the student is active in education and the teacher is positioned as a leader and guide in the education and training environment. The adequacy of the personal and professional development of teachers who are expected to be leaders and guides in education and training environments will increase the quality of education and training, and this situation will indirectly contribute significantly to the solution of the problem of continuous absenteeism by helping students embrace the school more. Persistent absenteeism is the failure of students to attend school without a valid excuse. Scientific research has shown that absenteeism is one of the most important problems that disrupts education and training. Especially in our country, absenteeism is seen as a major problem in schools. Absence is a problem that needs to be examined in terms of the effects of factors such as parents, students, teachers, school administrators, the social environment where the school is located and local administrators on the absenteeism problem. Persistent absenteeism is a situation that negatively affects the economic, social and cultural development of society. Persistent absenteeism is a problem that parents, students, teachers, school administrators, residents of the area where the school is located and local administrators have direct or indirect effects on its solution. The primary factors directly affecting the problem of persistently absent students are the family, the school-classroom environment, teachers, the social environment in which the school is located, and school administrators. A child's education begins in the family. The family is where an individual first socializes, begins to learn about the world, and begins to understand social order and rules. After the family environment, an individual undergoes the second stage of socialization in the school environment. Failure to adapt the school-classroom environment to a student's developmental level, interests, and needs reduces student engagement with school. In this regard, teachers and administrators have a significant responsibility to ensure that the school-classroom environment is designed to increase student engagement with school. Furthermore, tailoring the classroom environment to students' interests and needs will contribute to students' appreciation for school and, consequently, to a reduction in absenteeism rates. Another factor that directly impacts the problem of absenteeism is the attitude and behavior of school administrators toward students. Their attitudes and behaviors influence students' commitment to school. Furthermore, if school administrators tailor the school environment to students' interests and needs, this will foster student engagement and ultimately contribute to the resolution of absenteeism. Many studies on persistent absenteeism appear to be limited to specific areas. The study employed a qualitative research method, using face-to-face interviews with administrators of urban and village schools in Osmaniye province as primary data. Policy documents and legislation were also examined as secondary data, analyzed using document analysis. The study concluded that the most significant factors affecting the problem of persistently absent students are the socioeconomic status of families and the fragmented family structure

    This study covers the qualitative and quantitative evaluation of scientific studies on cadastre, property and real estates in the field of surveying engineering in Turkey in various formats such as books, theses, articles, papers and reports. The main objective is to understand the general approaches to this topic in the field of engineering by using the chronological and numerical data of the studies carried out around these keywords. In this context, the evolution and current status of the technical concepts in the field of surveying engineering in Turkey have been systematically discussed from past to present. The publication focuses on scientific studies on 'cadastre, property and immovable' from an engineering perspective, and evaluates in detail the titles of the works produced, the journals in which they are published, and the databases used. This review aims to provide scientists, researchers and relevant stakeholders in Turkey with a comprehensive overview of the existing literature. The collective presentation of the approach to concepts in cartography from a scientific perspective, through different types of scientific works, provides researchers and related professionals with a basis to show which topics they can develop studies on in this field, as well as to help them gain inspiration for new scientific studies
