The internet, and especially online social networks, are now seen as a way to achieve success. In this context, algorithms can be viewed in two different ways. On the one hand, they can enable the growth of small, medium, and large content creators. On the other hand, those who do not master them may find it difficult to achieve the desired online engagement. Thus, the objective of this study is to understand how Portuguese fashion influencers manage their visibility strategies through TikTok algorithms with a view to growing their accounts. The methodology adopted in this study follows a qualitative and intensive approach. In this sense, the collection of empirical material results from a systematic observation of the performance of ten digital influencers on the social network TikTok. An observation grid was developed and used, which enabled the construction of a corpus of digital content, consisting of 114 publications. The analysis of this material allowed us to identify and understand some of the main patterns of the posts, content formats, and engagement and visibility strategies adopted by the influencers monitored. In addition, a semi-structured interview was conducted with a digital influencer whose insights contributed to the contextualization and understanding of the relationship between influencers and TikTok. The main results indicate that digital fashion influencers adopt relatively similar visibility strategies, but the effects of these strategies differ substantially in terms of their impact on the audience, both in terms of the size of the follower network and in terms of the dynamics of interaction between the influencer and TikTok users
voluntariado e o bem-estar subjetivo (BES) e psicológico (BEP).
Research has shown that volunteering is associated with well-being. The present study aimed
to analyze the mediating role of social identity in the relationship between volunteering and
both subjective well-being (SWB) and psychological well-being (PWB). It also sought to
examine whether social identity is more strongly associated with PWB than with SWB, and
whether its mediating role is stronger when referring to identification with the group or with
the association.
The sample consisted of 186 volunteers recruited through a snowball sampling method. Data
were collected through an online questionnaire that included the characterization of volunteer
work, the Three-Dimensional Social Identity Scale (Cameron, 2004), the Organizational
Identification Scale (Mael & Ashforth, 1992), the short version of the Subjective Well-Being
Questionnaire (Diener, 2000), the Psychological Well-Being Questionnaire (Ryff & Keyes,
1995), as well as sociodemographic variables. Data analysis was conducted using the SPSS
software. Results showed that volunteering is positively associated with both SWB and PWB.
Social identity was also found to be positively related to well-being, with identification with
the volunteer group emerging as the factor most strongly associated with PWB. However, social
identity did not mediate the relationship between volunteering and well-being. In summary, the
findings highlight that social identity constitutes an important resource in the volunteering
context, reinforcing the role of belonging and group cohesion as key factors promoting well-
being

In the current labour market, specifically in Portugal, the country is facing a low unemployment rate where professional opportunities arise in the finance sector, being relevant to focus on professional careers, reason why the study object of this investigation are the careers of Certified Accountants and Financial Analysts, the latter outside of banking and financial market fields. These are occupations that share the same knowledge, however, contrast in terms of access and professional regulation. The factors that influence their careers came from different causes, structural factors, but also individual ones, in the sense that life, socioeconomic background, professional experience, ambitions and expectations generate a specific perspective of structural factors, occurred events and professional identity.
Professionals face adaptation needs during ongoing careers paths, the ones may or may not be able to fill. The careers boundaries, in this investigation and assuming their existence, are approached in the sense of possible permeability in the mobility context and not only depending on their nature, but also professional´s skills as promoters of their own careers and their ability to negotiate and to deploy strategies to achieve the established goals. These goals are changeable as the decisions based in professional identity. Nevertheless, is also important highlight the market trends shared by experienced Business Directors in this field, in order to empower these professionals to make progress in a sustainable career way
Towards a public architectural history: Collective-use facilities and community engagement in Portugal and Spain
The sustained use and reuse of existing buildings is key in addressing social inequality and reinforcing sustainability and resilience in peripheral, disadvantaged communities of the so-called developed world. Collective-use facilities built since the 1940s, the outcome of individual and common efforts, carry decades of service to communities and are repositories of both material and experiential values. Knowing their history of production and use is essential in reassessing their relevance for current and future needs: to be effective, this knowledge must be appropriable and relatable, co-created, and widely shared. This article discusses how such premises are put to the test in Arquitectura Aqui, a research and dissemination initiative underway in communities in Portugal and Spain. Using different cases in both countries to examine specific goals and methodologies, challenges and results, we suggest that local engagement in co-researching and co-narrating the past and present of buildings and their role in collective life, in a participation and dissemination platform, might contribute to putting into practice a public architectural history of community buildings.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Precarity and dualism in higher education diagnosing their consequences and assessing Portuguese and Spanish policies
This paper explores the consequences of precarity for the teaching-research nexus in academia. Ten case studies of higher education institutions in Portugal and Spain – two countries that have recently introduced measures to reduce contractual instability – are analysed through 47 interviews/focus groups with academics and institutional officials and contextualised through legislation and employment data. Our findings show that precarity is perceived as detrimental to the quality of teaching and research – while institutional officials see both missions as complementary, academic staff often experience them as competing demands, constrained by time and job (in)security. Moreover, respondents’ perceptions of recent policies’ lack of success in alleviating this precarity suggest their inadequacy to the academic context. Our study contributes to debates on the impact of precarity on academic work and informs policy discussions on how to better ensure the viability of the teaching-research nexus, with respect for both missions as well as for academics’ well-being.info:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersio
Application of knowledge graphs in project management: An enhance of the PMBOK 6 framework
PMBOK is a well-known standard used by project managers during project execution. This guide has several editions, with the most recent being the 7th edition. Although it is not the latest version, this dissertation focuses on PMBOK 6 due to its structured approach, which defines 49 processes with inputs, tools, and outputs forming a large interconnected network.
The goal of this dissertation is to help project managers have a clearer understanding of PMBOK 6 and the connections between its 49 processes. To achieve that, a visual tool was developed, a Knowledge Graph. This Knowledge Graph was tested through use cases that demonstrate how a single change in one process can impact and propagate across different areas.O PMBOK é um guia reconhecido e utilizado por gestores de projetos durante a execução dos mesmos.
Filling the gap to address vaccine hesitancy in Europe
Vaccine hesitancy (VH) is a state of indecision regarding vaccination, marked by doubts despite vaccine availability [1].
Its relationship with vaccine uptake has been widely debated, though the cause-effect relationship remains unclear. Nevertheless, VH likely threatens the control of vaccine-preventable diseases, such as measles and hepatitis B, imposing unnecessary burdens on health systems.
Inappropriate access to information, inadequate vaccine offers, and administration have been identified as primary contributors to reluctance and doubts surrounding vaccine uptake. However, social and individual factors related to knowledge and attitudes further prolong this psychological state of indecision, leading to delayed vaccinations and even refusal. Despite extensive efforts to promote vaccination across European countries, VH persists, affecting vaccine uptake across various demographic groups and settings. Hesitancy varies by country, type of vaccine (whether recently approved or longstanding), and target populations, including children, vulnerable groups, or the general population.
Assessing the frequency, determinants, and impact of vaccine hesitancy presents a significant global and regional challenge [2]. Variations in definitions, data gaps regarding vaccine acceptance, and population coverage hinder precise evaluation. These discrepancies make it more difficult to develop targeted interventions and allocate resources to promote vaccination in a targeted manner and thus effectively improve vaccine acceptance on a large scale.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Current trends and challenges in BIM–LCA integration
Building information modelling (BIM) optimises life cycle assessment (LCA) processes by automating the detailed extraction of quantities from BIM models and reducing labour-intensive processes. However, it is difficult to identify the most effective and accurate BIM-based LCA approach, which depends on the design phase, the maturity of the BIM information, modelling techniques and the overall goal of the LCA. Additionally, there is a shortage of systematic knowledge regarding the present obstacles and potential directions for BIM-based LCA.
This article conducts a systematic literature review analysing 65 publications between 2013 and 2024, using scientometry techniques and detailed content analysis. The results show that current methods still require many manual processes that can be automated, namely the BoQ edition and mapping of LCA data; do not allow for continuous monitoring of environmental impacts throughout the design stages; and are not adapted to renovation or refurbishment BIM models.
Furthermore, although LCA and the circular economy are directly related concepts, there is a lack of research into how circular economy strategies quantitatively influence LCA results and methods.info:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersio
Strategic management of high-level hospitals from the perspective of stakeholders: The case study of the affiliated hospital of Guangdong Medical University
The thesis is about the strategic management of high-level hospitals from the stakeholders' perspective and takes the Affiliated of Guangdong Medical University (hereinafter referred to as the GMUAH) as the case study. The GMUAH has formulated the 14th Five-Year Plan and the strategic goal of entering the top 100 in the ranking of the national performance evaluation of China's tertiary public hospitals based. In accordance with the strategic management theory, the strategic plan of the GMUAH has been executed, and the goal of the GMUAH has not yet been achieved after reviewing and comparing them with the performance evaluation indicators of China's tertiary public hospitals. The surface reasons for restricting the GMUAH from ranking in the top 100 in China's tertiary public GMUAH performance evaluation are the low proportion of the GMUAH's third and fourth surgeries and the low research funding per 100 people. This thesis unveils that the fundamental reason is the conflict of interest and conflicting interests among different stakeholders.
This thesis uses stakeholder theory as the theoretical background, and the case study as a research method, explored through interviews and a survey. Interviews were conducted with 18 stakeholders at the GMUAH to identify eight points of conflicts of interest and conflicting interests. Then, a survey was conducted among 2439 stakeholders in GMUAH. The survey results are as follows: firstly, more than 80% of stakeholders hold a supportive attitude towards the strategic planning and goals of the GMUAH; secondly, nearly 90% of stakeholders believe that the strategic goals of the GMUAH are reasonable and consistent with its own development; thirdly, the main points of conflicts of interest and conflicting interests are the allocation of resources and benefits between departments, as well as the conflict between the overall strategic interests of the GMUAH and the interests of the department itself. This study provides practical guidance of stakeholder theory on GMUAH strategic management, which is of great significance for achieving the strategic planning and goals of the GMUAH. The solutions to different conflicts of interest and conflicting interests in the GMUAH can also provide some reference and development ideas for the strategic management of other large public hospitals.
