Bridging the Teacher Digital Efficacy Gap: The Role of School Administrators’ Digital Leadership in Sarawak, Malay
The rapid digital transformation of education has expanded the need for effective leadership that empowers teachers to integrate technology meaningfully into their practice. While
digital leadership is increasingly recognised as essential, limited research has explored its role in enhancing teachers’ digital self-efficacy, particularly in developing contexts with uneven digital transformation. This study addresses this gap by examining how school administrators’
digital leadership influences teachers’ confidence and competencies in Sarawak, Malaysia.
Grounded in Bandura’s Social Cognitive Theory, the study employed a phenomenological design using Focus Group Discussions with six teachers from diverse school settings. Thematic analysis revealed that administrators’ digital leadership practices enhanced five key areas of teacher competence: information and data literacy, communication and collaboration, digital content creation, digital safety and responsible online behaviour, and problem-solving
through training and peer collaboration. Findings demonstrate that school administrators act as facilitators of mastery experiences, social persuasion, and vicarious learning, all of which strengthen teachers’ digital self-efficacy. Beyond the Malaysian context, the study
contributes to global debates on digital leadership in education by positioning school administrators as important agents in achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4 (quality
education) through digital transformation. The study concludes that effective digital leadership not only cultivates supportive environments for teachers but also enables schools to adapt to the demands of 21st-century education. Future research should adopt mixedmethods, longitudinal, and cross-national designs to capture sustained impacts and advance the theoretical understanding of digital leadership in diverse educational systems.

Constructively Aligning Deliveries and Assessment to Sustainable Development Goals Mapping for New Accreditation Criteria
— The Engineering Accreditation Council Malaysia (EAC) is responsible for accreditations of all undergraduate engineering programmes in both public and private institutions in Malaysia. As a member of the Washington Accord, the BEM guidelines are also in line with the latest International Engineering Alliance Graduate Attributes and Professional Competencies published in 2021. The new revisions to EAC’s Engineering Programme Accreditation Standard 2024 have introduced changes to the Programme Outcomes (PO) - from twelve PO to eleven PO and an additional requirement to map the Graduate profiles to United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). In this paper, we discuss the changes in the new BEM’s Engineering Programme Accreditation Standard 2024 and propose constructive alignment of deliveries and assessments of SDG mapping to the PO for new accreditation criteria

Understanding Patterns of Gender-Based Violence: Victim–Perpetrator Dynamics within a Social-Ecological Framework in Sarawak
Gender-based violence (GBV) is a pervasive issue that manifests in various forms that are often influenced by the relationship between the victim and the perpetrator. While intimate partner violence (IPV) is widely recognized, abuse by other family members, such as parents, siblings, or children, also presents serious concerns, particularly within households. Understanding the dynamics between victims and perpetrators is crucial for determining the nature and intensity of violence. This study investigates how the nature of the perpetrator-victim relationship affects the form and severity of GBV, with a focus on cases reported at the One Stop Crisis Center (OSCC) in Sarawak General Hospital. A total of 139 adult victims were surveyed between March 2021 and March 2023 using the World Health Organization's Violence Against Women Instrument (VAWI), which measures psychological, physical, and sexual violence. The analysis revealed that the relationship with the perpetrator significantly influenced the severity and type of violence experienced. Victims of intrafamilial violence were more likely to report experiencing only one form of abuse, whereas those subjected to IPV were more often exposed to multiple forms of violence. Although the demographic factors such as age, marital status, and education level showed some associations with the patterns of abuse, the perpetrator relationship remained the strongest predictor in this study. In fact, these findings highlight the importance of addressing GBV within both intimate and familial contexts. Understanding the dynamics of different relationships can inform more effective prevention strategies and support services that promote safety and resilience for individuals and communities in Sarawak
Identification of Time Wastage Towards Lean Production for IBS: A Case Study of Precast Hollow Core Slab Production
The introduction of Industrialized Building System (IBS) is thought to hasten the construction process when it is substituted from the traditional cast-in-place approach to
the factory-made precast component. Since IBS components manufacturing may boost its productivity using Lean Production to cut down on-time wastage, there is a clear need to investigate their manufacturing efficiency in the construction industry. In this paper, the time wastage of manufacturing precast hollow core slab is placed under close inspection to assess areas of improvements. Upon developing the Value Stream Mapping (VSM) of the manufacturing process, the research then investigates the root cause of the time
wastage by employing major waste checklist and then proceeds to develop an Ishikawa Diagram to better illustrate the findings. To give proper weightage and comparative priority for improvements, the Cause-and-Effect Matrix (CEM) method is applied and then described by a Pareto chart. The root cause of time wastage was then pointed out to be inefficient machinery utilization and traditional procedure in the bed cleaning process. Several corrective measures are then suggested to reduce time wasting in the production of precast hollow core slab
Intrinsic motivation, digital enablement and brand relationship quality: investigation in higher education
Purpose
This study examines the impact of intrinsic motivation elements – job autonomy, competence and relatedness – on employee–brand relationship quality (EBRQ) in higher education institutions (HEIs), focusing on the moderating role of digital enablement within the context of digital sustainability.
Design/methodology/approach
Data were collected from 399 employees of Pakistani HEIs and analyzed using Smart PLS-SEM 4. The analysis explored the relationships between intrinsic motivation elements, digital enablement and EBRQ.
Findings
The findings indicate that while job autonomy does not directly influence EBRQ, competence and relatedness significantly enhance the relationship between employees and their university’s brand. Digital enablement significantly moderates these relationships, promoting collaboration, professional growth and alignment of employee attitudes and behaviors with the university’s brand concepts, thereby supporting digital sustainability.
Research limitations/implications
Future research should consider a broader geographic scope and explore additional intrinsic motivation elements and digital enablement factors. Limitations include the focus on Pakistani HEIs, which may affect generalizability.
Practical implications
To strengthen institutional branding, HEIs should invest in digital tools that support intrinsic motivators especially competence and relatedness, thereby creating more engaged and aligned employees in the digital era.
Originality/value
This study provides novel insights into how intrinsic motivation and digital enablement interact to shape employee–brand relationships in the higher education sector, offering practical strategies for universities to strengthen their brand and advance digital sustainability

A Review of the Mechanism of Mental Resilience in Career Development of STEM Undergraduate Students
This article highlights protective factors that will sustain persistence in demanding, academically demanding, and professionally oriented fields by offering a thorough review of mental resiliency as a foundational process in influencing academic and career development among undergraduate STEM students. By demonstrating how hardiness acts as a strong defense against the negative effects of academic stressors, life traumas, career ambiguity, and numerous failed trials that are inherent to the STEM educational environment, this investigation incorporates recent empirical evidence into an explanation of complex issues at the intersection between psychological resilience and success outcomes in STEM-related fields of study. Within a multileveled ecological system of environmental influences (laboratory culture, mentorship relationships, and institutional support systems) and individual characteristics (sex, cultural background, and past educational experiences), these developmental processes operate. According to the theoretical model, resilience has multifaceted effects because it can be attributed to both direct stress-buffering effects and indirect mediating pathways in a situational dependent manner. This means that underrepresented populations require multifaceted intervention strategies that address both the immediate need for stress-protection coping and the underlying psychological processes that translate resilience into career-related outcomes
