No full textDuring the years of the UNESCO headquarters design in Paris, Pier Luigi Nervi was also involved in the project for the Centre National des Industries et des Techniques (CNIT), located in La Défense, in the northwestern suburb of the city. Between 1953 and 1955, he took part in a team that included Bernard Zehrfuss, his interlocutor on the UNESCO project as well, within the framework of an Italian-French collaboration that reflects the renewed alliance between architects and engineers and the international scope of major postwar construction projects. Drawing on previously unpublished archival sources, this article reconstructs the circumstances of Nervi’s involvement and the details of his subsequent exclusion, shedding new light on a little-known episode in his career, highlighting his essential role in the project, and contributing to a more comprehensive understanding of the CNIT’s genesis and the negotiation processes that shaped its realization

No full textMyrtle (Myrtus communis L., 1753), the only species of Myrtaceae native to Europe, is a key Mediterranean scrub species valued for its aromatic and medicinal properties. During field research on the Culuccia Peninsula (NE Sardinia) in 2024, a series of observations and data were collected on insects visiting flowering plants. Since very little is known about the pollinators and visitors of flowers of Myrtus communis, we here provide a fist account of the insect recorded during the research. A total of 117 visitor insects were collected, mainly Coleoptera (84%), followed by Diptera (7%), Hymenoptera (7%), Hemiptera (1%) and Thysanoptera (1%). The most common families are Oedemeridae (29%), Cerambycidae (14%) and Scraptiidae (13%). Oedemera flavipes (Fabricius, 1792) is the most frequent species observed visiting myrtle flowers (19%). Our results show a diverse insect community dominated by Coleoptera, unlike previous studies reporting only Hymenoptera and Diptera, highlighting the need for further research across regions to understand the insect assemblages associated with this plant species

Vi si raccolgono contributi scritti in italiano e in inglese, su temi che vanno dalla linguistica contrastiva alla struttura dell’informazione, anche nella sua relazione con la prosodia, dall’interfaccia sintassi/semantica al continuum sintassi-lessico fino a recenti sviluppi della linguistica, come la corpus linguistics e la linguistica computazionale. Sono argomenti di cui la Dedicataria si è a lungo occupata, e che riflettono l’evoluzione dei suoi interessi scientifici. Più di un quarto dei contributi tocca il tema della struttura argomentale, oggetto di ricerca principe nel percorso accademico di Lunella Mereu: Temi e argomenti, appunto. Eco-Design for Metal Additive Manufacturing: A Parametric Model for Combining Mass Reduction with Recycled and Reused Powder
No full textEco-design for metal additive manufacturing (AM) can be pursued in different manners, including lightweight design and the reuse and recycling of powders. However, these options are contradictory due to the decline in characteristics in recycled and reused powders. This study proposes a parametric model of the environmental impact of AM process, including raw material extraction, metallurgical process, scrap recycling, melting, atomization for the production of the powders and printing. The model consists of an objective function that has been derived from the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology applied to the AM process. Each contribution of the function has been parameterized, including decision variables about mass reduction and the percentage of use of recycled and reused powder. The eco-design for AM is pursued through the minimization of the objective function (i.e., the environmental impact of the process) by obtaining the most suitable values of the decision variables. The proposed model has been applied to an illustrative example related to the AM of a component made by Ti6Al4V

No full textMechanical Testing of 3D-Printed Pediatric Trachea-Shaped Specimens: A Suitability Study
No full textIn the absence of standard procedures for testing 3D-printed soft polymers, an experimental protocol was proposed to assess the suitability of Flexible 80A Resin for a pediatric trachea anatomical 3D model for surgical simulation. Eighteen specimens printed via stereolithography are involved, including anatomical, cylindrical, and dog-bone shapes, to investigate the geometry effect on measured properties. Static tensile tests revealed that using standardized dog-bone specimens as a reference for the material’s Young’s modulus leads to a mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) up to 50% compared to anatomical specimens. Measurement uncertainty combined repeatability with input errors, and the ANOVA test confirmed the need for dedicated mechanical measurements when evaluating complex 3D-printed geometries. The study concludes the suitability of selected material: the average elastic modulus of anatomical specimens was 4.75 MPa, closely matching values reported for tracheal tissue in the literature, with a MAPE of only 2%. Dynamic mechanical tests showed trachea-like viscoelasticity: anatomical specimens were consistently stiffer and more dissipative than cylindrical ones. Creep tests confirmed the viscoelastic behavior simulating airway time scales. The anatomical specimens exhibit faster local relaxation, while cylindrical ones show slower long-term relaxation, both modeled by a two-element generalized Maxwell model (R2 = 0.99 and 0.98)
