L’enigma dell'umano. Storie di vita e di malattia negli scritti psicopatologici di Karl Jaspers
Durante gli anni trascorsi come psichiatra presso la clinica universitaria di Heidelberg, Karl Jaspers pubblica una serie di storie di malate e malati che costituiscono il “laboratorio” concettuale della prima edizione dell’Allgemeine Psychopathologie e il nucleo originario del suo approccio biografico. Questo volume mostra come, attraverso tali storie, si delinei la peculiarità dell’innovativo approccio jaspersiano ai fenomeni patologici della vita psichica e la profonda tensione etica che lo anima. Le vite infrante e marginalizzate di bambine omicide, gelosi deliranti, malati schizofrenici acquisiscono dignità scientifica e divengono il luogo in cui si manifesta nella sua forma più radicale e dolorosa l’indecifrabilità non solo della malattia ma della stessa condizione umana: la sua irriducibilità alla norma, la sua infinita apertura al senso, la sua vulnerabilità come condizione di libertà. Vedendo l’umano nel patologico e non consegnandolo allo spazio di una muta e reietta alterità, Jaspers mostra e eticamente custodisce il limite enigmatico dell’esperienza psicopatologica, nella consapevolezza che l’enigma del malato è, innanzitutto, l’enigma dell’umano

Human Intervention in AI-Generated Language Test Production
Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to the theory and development of computer systems capable of performing tasks that generally require human skills and reasoning. The rapid advancements in the field have led to extensive research highlighting the benefits of using AI in language test production, including saving time, creating test papers quickly, and improving test-takers’ assessment experiences. However, these benefits can only be exploited with appropriate human intervention. Human intervention entails that no machine or software decision is considered final without human review. This is crucial for obtaining reliable outcomes, as biases in AI-generated tests occur frequently. A ‘bias’ is a systematic error in AI decision-making processes that leads to unfair outcomes based on factors such as gender, race, ethnicity, and language. Therefore, human intervention is significant in AI-generated language test production to achieve unbiased results

Development of systematic uncertainty-aware neural network trainings for binned-likelihood analyses at the LHC
We propose a neural network training method capable of accounting for the effects of systematic variations of the data model in the training process and describe its extension towards neural network multiclass classification. The procedure is evaluated on the realistic case of the measurement of Higgs boson production via gluon fusion and vector boson fusion in the ττ decay channel at the CMS experiment. The neural network output functions are used to infer the signal strengths for inclusive production of Higgs bosons as well as for their production via gluon fusion and vector boson fusion. We observe improvements of 12 and 16% in the uncertainty in the signal strengths for gluon and vector-boson fusion, respectively, compared with a conventional neural network training based on cross-entropy

Circular Data Flowchart for Sustainable Ecodesign
The transition to a circular economy is essential to reduce the environmental and climate impacts of current linear patterns of production and consumption, particularly in the construction sector, which has one of the highest environmental impacts. Among the actions of the Commission, aimed at concretising the ecological and digital transition of Europe, there is the ESPR Regulation 2024/1781 that introduces the Digital Product Passport (DPP) as a key tool to ensure transparency and traceability along the entire product value chain, improving resource management and supporting ecodesign. In the construction sector, the Material Passport (MP) and the Building Heritage Material Passport (BHMP) are key tools for documenting the technical characteristics and environmental impacts of materials, to ensure that ecodesign requirements, deconstruction, reuse and recyclability are met. In addition, these tools give an identity to enhance and protect the materials and construction techniques of traditional architecture, especially the interior areas, which are often forgotten. This study examines the major European regulatory actions in favor of circularity, the most significant examples of experimentation of MPs (Material Digital Passport) in the construction sector and the challenges associated with the implementation of this tool, including standardization, Data protection and interoperability. The study proposes an informative Flowchart for data management in DPPs, which divides the product life cycle into three macro phases, identifying stakeholders and key specifications inherent to each phase; the study also highlights the active role of the “prosumer” in the circular process, underlining the importance of informed participation in product selection and management; and how this actor can influence design from a sustainable and ethical point of view. The use of digital identity is a key step towards decarbonisation and resource optimization in the industrial and construction sectors
