This study was published in 1944, and the document is one of a series of 39 such studies of various aspects of the performance of the Soviet Navy during the war. Contains the original document in Russian. Topics include: frontline situation of the forces of northern defensive region on the coast of Varangerfjord and Sredniy and Rybachiy Peninsula; commander's concept and operational plan; decision of the commander, northern fleet, and plan of joint operations with Karelian front for the liberation of the Soviet far north; preparation for execution of the assigned mission; execution of the assigned missions; and organization of command and control for combat and the accomplishment of coordination
Problems of nondivisional training in the Army Ground Forces. Army Ground Forces study no. 14.
The history of the Army Ground Forces as a command was prepared during the course of the war and completed immediately thereafter. The studies prepared in Headquarters, Army Ground Forces, were written by professional historians, three of whom served as commissioned officer and one as a civilian. The histories of the subordinate commands were prepared by historical officers, who except in Second Army, acted as such in addition to other duties.

Illustration No. 38: In case the troops entering Tabogon ran into trouble, a perimeter was set up to give them covering fire. The heavy machines were "heavy" in more ways than one, but they were well worth carrying, especially when accuracy, at long range was needed. Illustration No. 39: The terrain on Bohol Island is rough, and many times wire laying by truck is impossible. Of course, reels can be hand carried, but troops from the 3d Battalion, 164th Infantry, find it more satisfactory to use a carabao.
