Final manuever report : Exercise Swarmer.
The original concept of the maneuver envisaged the 11th Airborne Division as an Aggressor force with the mission of establishing an airhead in the vicinity of Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The 82d Airborne Division and other Field Force units would constitute the United States forces. However, when the magnitude of a maneuver of this type was considered, the plan was changed to include both airborne divisions as part of a United States Task Force with the mission of regaining an area occupied by an Aggressor force. This mission was to be accomplished by the employment of airborne combat teams and airlanded elements of the task force.
