Developments of tactics and techniques for dissemination of chemicals from aircraft for crop destruction.
The object of this staff study is to determine the effectiveness of the use of certain chemicals for crop destruction, and to ascertain suitable techniques for distribution of such chemicals from tactical aircraft. Contents: AAF Board recommendations and conclusions; test directive; figures 1-26; and a distribution list. Chemical warfare plan, Southwest Pacific Area.
Object: offensive chemical warfare, when directed, will be employed: a. to exploit to the maximum, the preponderant United Nations' potential in the scope of chemical warfare; and b. to overcome the enemy's protective and defensive measures, and to create such casualties to the enemy by the penetration of all types of field fortifications, that operations will be greatly expedited and strategical and tactical objectives gained with the minimum expenditure of lives and materiel. Concept for the 1970-1980 field army, August 1963. Short title: Army 80.
The 1970-1980 Field Army Concept is a very long range concept. This study includes operational, organizational, and materiel objectives, pertinent to the field army, for the 1970 decade with 1980 as the target year for achievement. It is approved as outlined herein as a basis for conceptual planning, as a unifying framework for supporting and follow-on studies and as guidance for stating objectives for materiel development. Part 1: rationale- scale and types of conflict; contingency actions; major war in Europe; thermonuclear exchange; and force requirements. Part 2: the concept of operations- general; combat operations; the combat zone; battlefield pattern; offensive operation; defensive action; and combat service support operations.
