Beginning where the last volume of the history ended, Chapter I of this volume extends to the practical end of hostilities with Japan, early in August. Chapter II deals with the interim planning period, prior to the adoption of the second revision of Plan Interlude on 11 September. Chapter III covers the period from 11 September to 2 October, on which date the first United States surplus property sales agreement with the Government of India was made. In Chapter IV the third revision of Plan Interlude is discussed, as well as events leading up to General Terry's request for the recall of the Field Commissioner of the Foreign Liquidation Commission (FLC) at the end of November. Chapter V covers personnel matters and Chapter VI records the happenings from the end of November until the end of December, when a new sales agreement was reached with the Government of India. Chapter VII and VIII are chiefly concerned with the accomplishment of inactivation and carry the reader up to 15 April 1946 when theater headquarters was moved from New Delhi to Calcutta. Chapter IX relates the events of the last six weeks in the life of the India-Burma Theater
