    Charles Loughlin standing in a yard. Charles Edward Loughlin (1914-1986) was born in Southport, Brunswick County, NC, and died in Brevard County, Florida. He attended New Hanover High School in the early 1930s, and was a member of the Wilmington Light Infantry. He received a Chemical Engineering degree from North Carolina State University. During WWII he was in the navy, and continued in the naval reserves after the war, retiring at the rank of commander. He worked for International Paper after that
