Amelia R. Martin

Amelia Martin (1940- ) was born in Wilmington, NC. She graduated from Williston Senior High School in 1958 and the Community School of Nursing in 1962. She was the second black nurse to integrate James Walker Hospital. She worked in mental health for 41 years. She now works extensively with her church, St. Phillip A.M.E. Zion. Since the murder of her son Ron in 1997, she has worked with the Homicide Support Group. She also helped establish the Victim's Wall in the District Attorney's Office

Bonnie Murray ( ) was an educator in the New Hanover County School System for 35 years. She was originally from Fayetteville, NC, but has lived in Wilmington for 37 years. She owns and operates Sister-to-Sister Thrift Shoppe in Fayetteville with her sisters. Her husband is the pastor at Fairley's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Laurinburg
Lottie Tate Whitted

Lottie Tate Whitted is a long-time resident of Castle Hayne, NC. She was married to James Whitted, and the couple had three children. Lottie was a homemaker and also participated in many home demonstrations. She is a member of St. James A.M.E. Church in Castle Hayne
Richard & Betty Gail Buggeln

Richard Buggeln (1942- ) and Betty Gail Buggeln (1945- ) are leaders in the historic Tidewater Camellia Club. The Tidewater Camellia Club was founded in the early 1950s by Henry Rehder as a men's gardening club. Gradually the focus narrowed to camellias, and in the 1970s they opened the club to women. The club is affiliated with the American Camellia Society, and has had four of its members go on to become president of the national club

Larneice Spencer (1941- ) was the 2002 NAACP New Hanover County Chapter Mother of the Year. She also was responsible for reactivating the NAACP New Hanover County Youth Chapter in 2002. She is a retired educator and has taught in several local schools including Blount, Washington Catlett, Snipes, and Gregory from 1969-1998
Wallace Carmichael Murchison

Wallace Carmichael Murchison (1919-2013) was born in Wilmington, NC. He is the son of Wilmington doctor, David Reid Murchison. Wallace Murchison attended Tileston High School and then New Hanover High School. After obtaining his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and his J.D. from the University of North Carolina, Murchison returned to Wilmington and opened a solo law practice. He practiced law until his retirement in 1994, serving as co-founder and partner in the law firm Murchison, Fox and Newton (now Murchison, Taylor & Gibson, PLLC). Murchison was also involved with the non-profit charitable organization, The North Carolina Fund. He served as the Director of the Finance Department for the Episcopal Diocese of Eastern Carolina. He was one of the founding members of the Historic Wilmington Foundation. He served in other civic, community and professional organizations, including the New Hanover County Bar Association and the Bellamy Mansion Museum
Richard Evers

Richard P. Evers (1944- ) is a member of the Cape Fear Orchid Society. The Cape Fear Orchid Society was founded in 1987 to study and provide knowledge on the growing of orchids, as well as contribute to the conservation of orchids in nature. It is associated with the American Orchid Society

Kenny Kirby (1976- ) is the son of Lannie and Ken Kirby (1943- ), an optician. He is a native of Wilmington and is the father of Cameron Kirby. Charlie Weir is Kenny Kirby's father-in-law
