Julian Quarles Interview
Julian M. Quarles, Jr. was born in Staunton, Virginia in 1917. He served as an infantry officer (36th Division) during World War II, taking part in the landing at Salerno, Italy. He and another officer were captured, escaped from the prison train carrying them to Germany and made their way back to their outfit after 33 days behind German lines
