Portrait, miniature, of Sara Henderson Smith (1812-1884), wife of VMI Superintendent Francis Henney Smith, painted on a wooden panel. Image shows Mrs. Smith from the waist up, facing right, wearing a cream-colored gown with a burgundy-colored wrap. Her hair is parted down the middle, with curls at her temple areas. This portrait is believed to have been painted by Robert Weir, instructor of art at the United States Military Academy. The original portrait, held by the family until 2012, is in the collection of the VMI Museum
