    Poem is one of the popular literary works that is loved by many people because of its beautiful language and the deep meaning of it. In poem, there are words or sentences that has a poetic meaning. Many poets write poems that have hidden or unreal meanings in it, and it is called figurative language. With figurative language applied in the poem, some people do not understand what the idea behind it. Therefore, this research aimed is to analyze the type of figurative language used in William Shakespeare’s poems and to reveal the function of figurative language dominantly used in William Shakespeare’s poems. The titles of the 7 William Shakespeare’s poems were “Shall I Compare Thee to A Summer’s Day?”, “Let Me Not to The Marriage of True Minds”, “Like as The Waves Make Towards the Pebbled Shore”, “When, In Disgrace with Fortune and Men’s Eyes”, “All the World’s Stage”, “That time of year thou mayst in me behold”, and “The Rape of Lucrece”.     Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kesulitan mahasiswa mencari makna dalam kamus, tidak adanya ruang bagi leksikografi terapan dalam kurikulum pembelajaran bahasa Arab, minimnya minat pengajar bahasa asing untuk menyusun kamus dwibahasa bagi pembelajar pemula, sehingga pembelajar enggan untuk membuka kamus, karena membutuhkan waktu lama. Padahal, kamus berperan penting pada pembelajaran bahasa asing pada berbagai jenjang pendidikan baik bagi pembelajar maupun pengajar. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan penggunaan kamus dwibahasa Arab-Indonesia dalam pembelajaran, mendeskripsikan presepsi penguna, mendeskripsikan evaluasi eksternal kamus, dan mendeskripsiakan implikasi pedagogis. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi kepustakaan (library research) serta data kuantitatif sebagai pendukungnya. Sumber data penelitian adalah 3 kamus dwibahawa Arab-Indonesia dan 2 kamus Indonesia-Arab yang dianggap memiliki fitur kamus terbaik, dan Infestigasi kuesioner survei pada 173 pengguna yaitu Mahasiswa JPBA UPI Bandung, dan wawancara. Temuan penelitian ini menunjukan, 1) pengguna mengalami kesulitan dalam menentukan kepala lemma, aspek morfologi yakni menentukan kata dasar, pada aspek semantik yaitu sulit mencari padananan, makna yang sesuai konteks, dan tidak akrab dengan fitur kamus yang tersaji, 2) lebih dari 50% pengguna merasa kurang efektif menggunakan kamus, sehingga membutuhkan pelatihan, 3) hasil dari evaluasi eksternal kamus menunjukan setiap kamus memiliki karakter tersendiri, tidak semua unsur kelengkapan kamus termuat, meskipun tidak seluruh nilai evaluasi terpenuhi, karena informasi kamus tidak tersaji, terdapat beberapa fitur kamus yang bisa dimanfaatkan bagi pengembangan kamus pedagogis, seperti informasi sejarah bahasa sasaran, ortografi dan fungtuasi, cara penggunaan, pelafalan, informasi morfologi dan sintaksi, kelengkapan lema, contoh penjelas dan contoh penggunaan, 4) kebutuhan akan pelatihan penggunaan kamus terutama pada jenjang universitas. Bedasarkan hasil penelitian, perlu adanya pengembangan kamus untuk pembelajar, dan pelatihan penggunaan kamus di awal mata kuliah pada mata kuliah morfologi (sharaf) dan terjemah. Untuk peneliti, penelitian asepk eksternal kamus hanya dilakukan pada kamus yang terbatas, maka perlu dilakukan kajian pada kamus lainnya. Penggunaan kamus dalam pembelajaran belum spesifik, yaitu penggunaan kamus pada kegiatan berbahasa tertentu, maka hal ini perlu dilakukan oleh peneliti berikutnya. The problem in this study is concerning nothing to the space for applied lexicography in the curriculum Arabic language learning, minimal interest from teacher of foreign languages to compile a bilingual dictionary for beginner learners, difficulty of finding meaning in the dictionary, so the learner refuses to open the dictionary, because it took a long time, and the important role of the dictionaries is supporting material of language learning, for educators or learners at various levels. The purpose of this study to describe the use of bilingual Arabic-Indonesian dictionary in learning, and perception of learners, to evaluate external dictionaries, and to describe the pedagogical implications. Research methods used are literature studies (library research) and quantitative data site as supporters. Source data of this study are 3 bilingual dictionaries Arabic-Indonesian and two dictionaries Indonesian-Arabic that are considered to have the best features, and Infestigasition questionnaire survey of 173 learners namely Students of Department Arabic Language of Education UPI Bandung, and interviews. The findings of this study showed that, 1) users have difficulty in determining the head lemma, the morphology determine the root word, and the semantics aspec that is difficult to find equivalent meaning that fits the context, not familiar with the feature in the dictionaries, and 2) more than 50% of users feel less effective to use the dictionary, that requires training, 3) the results of the evaluation show dictionaries that each dictionary has its own character not all elements of the dictionary contained equipment, although not all the evaluations are met, because the information does not render dictionary, there are some features of the dictionary to be used in for the development of pedagogical dictionaries, such as the historical information of the target language, orthography and functuation, usage, pronunciation, morphology and syntax information, entry equipment, descriptive examples and examples of usage, 4) the need for training in the use of dictionaries, especially at the university stage. Based on our results, there should be an expansion dictionary for learners, and training in the use of dictionaries in the early course. For researchers, the study performed asepk external dictionary in the dictionary is limited, and to do research in other dictionaries. Use no specific dictionary learning, namely the use of a dictionary in a specific language activities, this will be done by subsequent researchers

    PERSEPSI DAN PROBLEMATIKA PENGGUNAAN KAMUS DWIBAHASA BAHASA ARAB – INDONESIA TINJAUAN LEKSIKOGRAFI PEDAGOGI

    Bilingual dictionaries are necessary to help learners understand and communicate in the target language, and bilingual dictionaries serve as a second resource when native speakers are not available. The problem is the basis for selecting equivalents and the level of similarity related to the semantic field. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with library research and quantitative research as support. Researchers used three data collection techniques, namely content analysis, questionnaires and interviews with 173 respondents. Research findings show that aspects of accessibility include the field of morphology: difficulty finding basic words, the semantic field has difficulty finding equivalent words and graphics. About (52.75%), users prefer entries that are appropriate to the context, and (35.16%) prefer entries based on usage examples. The difficulty of using a bilingual Arabic-Indonesian dictionary is caused by language competency factors, both grammar and semantics, design factors including design, dictionary graphics. Then the intensity factor is around (60%) rarely using a dictionary. The results of the survey questionnaire on 91 users showed that (91.21%) felt that they needed training in using dictionaries, this was based on the role of dictionaries, which increased (65.93%) stated that dictionaries had a significant role in study activities. Solution, more than half 58.24% of users chose to switch to electronic dictionaries. So this phenomenon has an impact on users switching to using electronic dictionaries

    This research examines the use of manipulative language in the film Orphan by David Leslie Jhonson a story by Alex Mace (2009), focusing on the character Esther who, despite her innocent appearance, uses sophisticated linguistic strategies to influence, deceive, and control others to achieve her hidden goals, by employing emotional framing, exploiting sympathy, and combining lies with incomplete thrust, Esther successfully manipulates how people around her perceive Esther. This research will analyse these manipulation tactics from psychological and linguistic perspectives, emphasizing the power and control dynamics demonstrated through Esther's character in this Orphan film. Additionally, this research compares the manipulative language in the film with its real-world applications in interpersonal relationships involving varying degrees of power. The research focuses on Esther’s conversation with other characters to show how she uses language to manipulate, which heightens narrative tension, influences audience perception, and reflects human behaviour.

    Ciri komunikasi masyarakat kolektif adalah adanya kesantunan yang didasarkan atas norma-norma yang disepakati dalam system konvensi masyarakat. Tujuan penelitian ini mencoba menemukan sebuah pola komunikasi dalam interaksi proses pemerintahan Desa. Metode Penelitian yang digunakan adalah analisis isi karena data yang diambil berupa isi kutipan komunikasi perangkat desa dan pimpinan sebagai isi, lalu mengkaji hirarki untuk menelaah pengaruh isi. Dengan prosedur yang digunakan adalah pada tataran semiotik (semantik-pragmatik) penggabungan beberapa taksonomi Herkner dan Holsti. Temuan penelitian menunjukan bahwa pengaruh Kekuatan Jarak Long Power Distance pada interaksi Kepala Desa dan Bawahannya sangat kental mengingat Kyai memiliki kredibilitas dan legitimasi dalam kontek kelembagaan, Porses Komunikasi Aparat dengan rekan cenderung lebih egaliter karena adanya kesamaan, terdapat beberapa pola kumunikasi kesantunan komunikasi lebih didasarkan pada budaya komunikasi dan nilai yang dianut oleh anggota berupa nilai, norma, pedoman etika interaksi berupa kekuatan jarak sangat terlihat dalam interaksi antara pemimpin dan pegawai pemerintahan lainnya, komunikasi cendrung lebih egaliter

    Evidence of the history of the sea in Islam, can be seen from the existence of historical evidence in the form of relics and terminology that are still used in the language community, especially the Arab community. Based on this explanation, the author tries to study manuscripts on the history of the sea in Islam through a lexico-semantic approach in the form of entries from several Indonesian-Arabic and English Bilingual dictionaries, as well as manuscript descriptions of the history of the sea in Islam, inventory at the word level, and semantic analysis at the word level. and sentences. The research findings show that the text descriptions of Islamic history show that several terms refer to the fields of maritime, navy, and political icons and my which characterize Islamic maritime history, besides that several entries have experienced several changes and shifts in meaning.  Â

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
