EFFECTIVENESS OF JIGSAW ON STUDENTS’ SPEAKING SKILL IN MAJALENGKA UNIVERSITY Afief Fakhruddin.S.S.M.PdMajalengka UniversityMajalengka, [email protected] AbstractThe research is entitled “The effectiveness of Jigsaw on students’ Speaking skill. The purposes of this research are (1) the levels of the speaking skill of the students  (2) to find out the effectiveness of jigsaw in students speaking skill, (3) the factors that influence the effectiveness of using Jigsaw in improving the speaking skill. This research belongs to experimental research and quasi experimental design. It describes about a study that cast about the effect of giving treatment of using Jigsaw in students speaking skill to an experimental group. The test result of posttest in experimental class showed that the students’ average is 72.06. It can be seen in proficiency level of speaking, majority of the students who got mark in the level of 3. The result of this study showed that the students in the experiment group got better development in the average scores than the control group in speaking test. The difference of the development of the average scores is statistically significant at the (0.5) alpha level of significance. It was found that there was significant difference for those who were taught using Jigsaw and those without it. The difference is shown by the development of the average scores. The group that used Jigsaw as medium in Jigsaw got better improvement in the average scores (15.39 ) than those without Jigsaw (0.684) Keywords – jigsaw, students speaking skil
Implementing critical reading for reading competence
The aim of this study was to investigates the impact of critical reading strategies on students’ reading competence. The participants of this research were semester three students of English education. The sample of this research was twenty three students. This research used test and observation to determine their level of reading competence during the learning. The research showed that this Strategy enhanced students’ reading competence. The students’ means score in cycle two test was (80.95). the result was much better than cycle one (70.94). Based on the result above it can be concluded that critical reading could enhance sudents reading competence
ENHANCING STUDENTS WRITING SKILLS OF NARATIVE TEXT THROUGH TRANSITION-ACTION-DETAILS
The aimed of this research was to explain how the use of the Transition-Action-Details Strategy enhance students’ writing skills in narative text in creating the story. It was to explain how the TAD enhance students writing skills in narative text dealing with the organization of writing. Research design was classroom action research. The data for this study were gained through test, and observation, and the respondents were four semester students who used TAD activity. The study revealed that that TAD Strategy enhance students’ writing skill in narrative text Text. The students’ means score in cycle two test was (78.99). the result was much better than cycle one (67.94). Based on the result above it can be concluded that TAD could enhance sudents writing narative text

RMD METHOD WITH COLLABORATIVE WRITING APPROACH TO INCREASING STUDENT’S ABILITY TO CREATE A BOOK
Penelitian ini berlangsung di universitas/sekolah tinggi di Kabupaten Majalengka pada mahasiswa semester empat dengan berdasar pada asumsi bahwa kemampuanmenulis harus dikembangkan secara berkesinambungan sebagai salah satu upaya untuk menciptakan budaya literasi di kampus. Metode RMD merupakan pengembangan dari metode RCM yang telah berhasil meningkatkan kemampuan menulis pada siswa SD kelas tinggi. Penulis mencoba mengadaptasinya agar bisa diterapkan pada mahasiswa yang memiliki tingkat kemampuan lebih tinggi. Metode itu dilakukan dengan pendekatan Collaborative Writing untuk membuat pembelajaran writing menjadi lebih menyenangkan dan mampu meningkatkan kemampuan mahasiswa untuk membuat karangan yang layak publikasi. Data penelitian diperoleh dari beberapa cara, yakni melalui analisis dokumen, observasi, kuesioner dan wawancara. Hasil observasi awal, kemampuan menulis mahasiswa masih rendah, mereka sulit menemukan ide dan mengembangkan karangan sehingga perlu dicari metode dan pendekatan yang cocok untuk mengatasinya. Penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa penggunaan metode RMD dikombinasikan dengan pendekatan collaborative writing bisa digunakan karena hal itu memberikan ide dan merangsang imajinasi dan kreatifitas mahasiswa sehingga mereka mampu mengembangkan karangan. Hasil penelitian ini membuktikan kemampuan menulis mahasiswa menigkat signifikan dengan menggunakan metode RMD yang dikombinasikan dengan collaborative writing sehingga mereka mampu membuat buku
USING GOOGLE MEET IN TEACHING SPEAKING
The aim of this research was to investigate how the use of google meet could improve students’ speaking skills of English deparments’ students in semester four of Universitas Majalengka. This particular research was categorized as action research. The actions were implemented in two cycles based on the class schedule. This research involved the twenty two students. The data of the study were in the forms of qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data were obtained by observing the teaching and learning process of speaking. Meanwhile, the quantitave data were acquired through test. The research findings showed that the use of google meet as the teaching media combined with the use of speaking activities and classroom English was proven to be effective to improve the students’ speaking skills
Student’s Learning Strategies During Pandemic To Get A High Score On TOEIC Test
TOEIC is one indicator for mastery of English language skills. SMKN 1 Kadipaten and SMKN 1 Majalengka are two vocational schools that get the opportunity for a free TOEIC test from Ministry of Education and Culture. This research was conducted to find out how students' learning strategies in the pandemic dealing with the TOEIC test to achieve high scores related to learning situations during the pandemic. The study was conducted on the12th grade students in two vocational schools. Data were obtained from the distribution of questionnaires to students in the two vocational schools, observations and interviews with English teachers. The most of them said they didn’t prepare specially for the test (61,9%). For learning strategy they used, just prepare by browse and look at TOEIC tutorial video (24,2%), discuss with a friend (11%), and 6,6% said they did the exercise from the sources that teacher shared. Only 1,6% who got guidance from teacher by WhatsApp chat, 4,9% by direct explanation, 0,5% by zoom/google meet. In conclusion, they used learning strategy by self-study. The lack of guidance from the teachers caused their TOEIC test score to be low. This is also correlated with their low awareness of the benefits of taking the TOEC test. They said did the test just for experience (51,9%). To improve test results in the future, it is very necessary to have more intensive guidance from teachers and also to growth motivation so that they have the purpose to get the best results
A DESCRIPTIVE STUDY ON THE USABILITY (COHERENCE AND COHESION WITH THE CURRICULUM) OF SOME MODULES: ENGLISH ON SKY AND EFFECTIVE ENGLISH BY TIGA SERANGKAI USED IN TEACHING ENGLISH IN THE THIRD GRADE STUDENTS OF SMP NEGERI 10 KOTA CIREBONâ€.
The research is entitled “A descriptive study on the Usability coherence and cohesion with the curriculum) of some modules. The purposes of this research are (1). To describe the correlation of the used modules of English on sky and Effective English by Tiga Serangkai with the curriculum in teaching English for the third grade students of SMPN 10 Kota cirebon. (2). To figure out how the used modules of English on sky and Effective English by Tiga Serangkai in teaching English for the third grade students of SMPN 10 Kota Cirebon. (3). To figure out the Teacher’s perception about the Module in teaching English of the third grade students of SMPN 10 Kota Cirebon.This research belongs to descriptive qualitative. the collected data were analyzed by making written description. After conducting the research, the researcher concluded that The modules are not 100% fulfilled the criteria as demanded by 2013 curriculum.  In the teaching and learning, the use of modules is adjusted with the order of basic competences required by the curriculum and also the time allocation. Both modules above are not the only handbooks which are used in the teaching and learning process. The teachers find that using modules in teaching and process is effective although sometimes the units/topics are disorderly arranged. Â
PRE-SERVICE ENGLISH TEACHERS’ INTERPERSONAL IDENTITY IN TEACHING INTERNSHIP
 Abstract: (TPI) Teacher Professional Identity defined as self-images or self-interpretation related to people's internal systems. While the teacher constructing professional identity, it was provided a good teacher quality especially in teacher-students relationship. The teaching internship program is the program that the students implemented real teaching situations. Some of pre-service English teachers had a lack of experience in teaching, they had a lack to build positive relationships with the students as well as the interpersonal identity, and they had a lack of awareness to build their identity. The study aimed to reveal (1) how preservice English teachers build teachers-students relationship as the interpersonal identity; (2) how pre-service English teacher reflective self-evaluations during teaching; (3) how university improve students’ awareness of their identity. The study utilized qualitative research with narrative design, the instruments used observations, interviews and questionnaires. The researcher used purposive sampling with five participants to collect data. The researcher found some pre-service English teacher had positive and negative relationship as well as desirable and undesirable interpersonal identity. Pre-service English teacher beliefs, teachers’ roles, and implemented of ICT were discussed in result. After pre-service English teachers finished the internship program, they had realized to evaluate their selves as a whole become future teachers.Keywords: Pre-service English Teachers, Teaching Internship, Teacher Professional Identity
Exploring Students’ Experience In Using Ai To Assist Their Writing
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as an effective strategy for helping students improve their writing abilities in today's ever-evolving educational environment. Thus, this study investigates the benefits and applications of using an artificial intelligence assistant to strengthen students' writing skills. Thus, this study aims at investigating the benefits and applications of using an artificial intelligence assistant to strengthen students' writing skills. The data were obtained through observation, questionnaire, and interview. The results of the study revealed that the most commons AI used by the students are Chat GPT, QuillBot, Jenni AI, Grammarly, and StoryAI. The students used AI for different purposes such as for grammar checking, finding story line, getting ideas for the writing topic, and getting first feedback. In line with the results of this study, it can be concluded that AI can be one of the alternatives tools to foster students’ writing skills.
