Pedagogical and Political Activity of Pēteris Sauleskalns (1876–1975), a Graduate (1908) of Riga Polytechnic Institute
In the study dedicated to Pēteris Sauleskalns (1876–1975), a graduate of Riga Polytechnic Institute (RPI), an agronomist, pedagogue, and teacher, the author used archival and library materials describing the family of Sauleskalns and the childhood of his son Pēteris, his study and work life, and pedagogical activities at Priekuļi (1912–1918) and Latgale (1921–1936) / Malnava (1936– 1940) Agricultural Secondary Schools, evaluating his contribution to the establishment and management of the Malnava Agricultural Secondary School. The teacher with a long-term experience, P. Sauleskalns also participated in political life – he represented the Latvian Farmers’ Union at the Latvian Constitutional Assembly (1920–1922). For his successful work in the area of agricultural education, he was twice awarded the highest Latvian state award – the Order of the Three Stars. After World War II, he lived in exile in the United States
Dentes natais e neonatais: uma revisão da literatura

No entanto, existem casos em que o elemento dental pode estar presente ao nascimento - dente natal, ou até o primeiro mês de vida da criança - dente neonatal. Na maioria das vezes, os dentes natais e neonatais são pequenos, cônicos e pouco desenvolvidos, apresentando uma coloração amarelo-acastanhada e hipoplasia do esmalte. Quando eles estão presentes na cavidade bucal, o exame radiográfico é de extrema importância para avaliar se esses dentes fazem parte da dentição decídua normal ou se são supranumerários. A doença de Riga-Fede é a complicação mais comum associada a essas anomalias. Tal complicação dificulta a sucção e a alimentação, podendo trazer deficiências nutricionais ao bebê. O objetivo do presente estudo foi realizar uma revisão da literatura sobre os dentes natais e neonatais. Foram utilizadas como fontes de pesquisa as bases de dados PubMed, LILACS, SciELO e Google Acadêmico. Foram incluídos os artigos de pesquisas, revisões de literatura e casos clínicos, totalizando 12 trabalhos publicados no período de 2000 a 2011, e quatro artigos clássicos, do período de 1984 a 2006. As informações necessárias para a realização da revisão da literatura foram obtidas através da leitura dos artigos na íntegra e os dados levantados foram agrupados em subitens com o objetivo de sistematizar os achados. Dos 16 artigos selecionados, dois (12,5%) são do tipo pesquisa, oito (50%) do tipo caso clínico, cinco (31,25%) são revisões de literatura e apenas um (6,25%) é do tipo revisão de literatura e caso clínico. Desses 16 artigos, 12 (75%) relataram tal alteração como um fenômeno bastante raro. Do total de 15 dentes encontrados nos artigos de casos clínicos, oito (53,33%) eram natais e sete (46,67%) neonatais. Desse total, 11 (73,33%) encontravam-se na região de incisivos inferiores e, apenas quatro (26,67%) na região de molares superiores. Doze (75%) artigos afirmam que a sua etiologia é multifatorial. Desses, quatro (33,33%) afirmam que a teoria mais aceita é a posição superficial do germe dental associada à hereditariedade. Onze artigos (68,75%) mostram que os dentes natais e neonatais são geralmente pouco desenvolvidos, cônicos, de cor amarelada, e, geralmente, apresentam alta mobilidade. Oito trabalhos (50%) revelam que o exame radiográfico é de extrema importância para o diagnóstico e/ou tratamento. Dos oito artigos do tipo caso clínico, quatro (50%) relataram o caso de crianças que apresentavam apenas dentes natais e neonatais sem qualquer outra alteração e/ou complicação, e os outros quatro (50%) associaram a presença desses dentes com a doença de Riga-Fede. Dos quatro casos clínicos que apresentavam dentes natais e neonatais sem alterações e/ou complicações, todos optaram pela exodontia dos elementos. Todos os artigos que indicaram a exodontia do dente natal/neonatal recomendaram evitar tal procedimento antes de a criança completar dez dias de idade. Conclui-se que a presença de dentes natais e neonatais é uma condição bastante rara e mais estudos ainda são necessários para confirmar a sua etiologia. O encaminhamento dos Médicos Pediatras para os Odontopediatras para avaliação e recomendações no que diz respeito à higiene bucal é fundamental, pois são esses os primeiros profissionais a ter contato com os recém-nascidos

Bakalaura darba mērķis: Izpētīt SIA “Topus Riga” konkurētspēju un izstrādāt konkurētspējas paaugstināšanas plānu. Bakalaura darba pirmajā nodaļā autore veikusi teorētisku konkurences un konkurētspējas konceptu analīzi, balstoties uz vadošo mārketinga jomā pētnieku atziņām. Otrajā nodaļā autore raksturojusi SIA “Topus Riga” darbības pamatrādītājus kā arī uzņēmuma produkciju un pielietotās mārketinga aktivitātes. Trešajā nodaļā autore veikusi SIA “Topus Riga” konkurētspējas analīzi izmantojot SVID metodi, VRIO analīzi, M. Portera modeli un McKinsey modeli, kā arī izpētīts veikalu Brandwatch un Timebar klientu viedoklis; Darba rezultātā autore ir izstrādājusi SIA “Topus Riga” konkurētspējas paaugstināšanas plānu, kas ir veidots pamatojoties uz teorētiskiem konceptiem kā arī uz veiktajiem mārketinga pētījumiem bakalaura darba ietvaros. Bakalaura darba apjoms: Darbs sastāv no ievada, četrām nodaļām, secinājumiem un priekšlikumiem. Darbs kopumā izklāstīts 71 lappusēs, tajā iekļauti 24 attēli, 17 tabulas, 34 bibliogrāfijas avoti. The company's competitiveness rating and competitiveness improvement plan will help the company to attract more customers , retain existing customers and as a result, increase income. The aim of the bachelor thesis: Exploring SIA "Topus Riga” competitiveness and for competitiveness improvement plan. In the first chapter the author considers the theoretical concepts of competition and competitiveness analysis based on leading researchers in the field of marketing knowledge. In the second chapter, the author described the SIA "Topus Riga" operational key indicators as well as the company's production and marketing activities. In the third chapter the author considers SIA "Topus Riga" competitive analysis using the SWOT analysis method, VRIOS analysis, Porter's matrix and Mc Kinsey model, as well explored the store Brandwatch and Timebar customers' viewpoint; The author has developed SIA "Topus Riga" competitiveness improvement plan that has been designed based on theoretical concepts as well as the inherent marketing research Bachelor's part of the job. Formulation of conclusions and proposals are up to date and relevant to the competitiveness of SIA "Topus Riga". The volume of the bachelor thesis: The work consists of an introduction, four chapters, conclusions and proposals. The volume of work is 71 p., It includes 24 pictures, 17 tables, 34 bibliographic sources.
Non-destructive techniques in the investigation of aircraft materials: Determination of defects and patches assessment
p-n Junction Formation in i-Ge Crystal by Laser Radiation
P-n junction is the main component of many semiconductor devices. Thermodiffusion, ion implantation and molecular beam epitaxy are only a few methods to form a p-n junction. The main drawback for these methods is high cost per p-n junction since the equipment for these methods is expensive. A possibility of p-n junction formation by laser radiation was shown in several p- and n-type semiconductors: p-Si[1,2], p-CdTe[3], p-InSb[4,5], p-InAs[6], p-PbSe[7] and p-Ge[8] due to inversion of conductivity type. Unfortunately, the mechanism of p-n junction formation by laser radiation is not clear until now.
In the present research rectification effect of current-voltage characteristic in pure intrinsic Ge crystal after irradiation by Nd:YAG laser was observed. The effect is characterised by threshold intensity of the laser radiation. Increase of rectification ratio of current-voltage characteristics and barrier height with intensity of the laser radiation, energy of laser radiation quanta and number of pulses was observed in this experiment. The mechanism of this phenomenon is explained by generation and redistribution of intrinsic point defects in temperature gradient field, which causes strongly absorbed laser radiation. The redistribution of defects takes place because interstitial atoms drift towards the irradiated surface, but vacancies drift in the opposite direction – in the bulk of semiconductor according to Thermogradient effect. Since interstitials in Ge crystal are of n-type and vacancies are known to be of p-type, a p-n junction is formed.

Chemical Composition and Potential Use of Fucus Vesiculosus from Gulf of Riga
AbstractSeaweed biomass is washed ashore on beaches causing recreational problems for local inhabitants and tourists. The management of marine waste in Latvia is not well developed. Brown algae Fucus vesiculosus is one of the most abundant seaweeds in Latvia. The chemical composition of brown algae Fucus vesiculosus, collected from the Gulf of Riga, was evaluated. Algae contain higher amounts of both macroelements (490 – 21500ppm; P, K, Ca, Mg, Na, Fe, Mn) and trace elements (0.11 – 930ppm; Zn, Cu, Cr, Pb, Sr, As, Cd, Se) than terrestrial plants. The obtained composition was used to describe the potential uses of seaweed. Food, pharmacy and bioenergy were considered as potentially the best sectors for macroalgae use. Due to high levels of heavy metals in seaweed, it is not recommended to use F. vesiculosus from Gulf of Riga as a food. The best potential use is found to be using it as biomass feed to obtain biogas
