The impact of digital transformation and ERP usage on business performance
This research examines the effects of digital transformation and ERP usage on business performance. The aim of the research is to analyze the opinions of senior managers operating in various sectors regarding these technologies and to reveal the indirect and direct effects of these technologies on business performance. Within the scope of the research, General Manager, Regional Manager, Planning Manager, Engineer, Specialist, Department Manager, Project Manager, Field Manager, Team Leader, Chief, R&D and Software Manager, Senior Manager, Project Manager, working in different companies aged 23 and over. Data was collected through a survey from people working in positions such as Engineers and Consultants. The obtained data were analyzed by using SPSS and AMOS programs and confirmatory factor analysis was performed within the framework of structural equation modeling (SEM). The findings show that ERP use has a positive and strong indirect effect on business performance and this effect is statistically significant. Additionally, it has been determined that knowledge management makes the biggest contribution to business performance. Supply chain flexibility and resilience play an important role in improving business performance. Although the cloud system and big data contribute to supply chain flexibility, their effects on business performance have been observed to be weak. As a result, effective use of technologies such as digital transformation, ERP use and information management is critical in increasing business performance
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Managerial and Technical Inefficiencies of Foreign and Domestic Banks in Turkey During the 2008 Global Crisis
This study analyses the differences between the group efficiency of foreign and domestic banks in Turkey from 2007 to 2010. The efficiencies of bank groups are compared after managerial inefficiencies are eliminated. In the process, the underlying factors of group efficiencies are identified. The results reveal that bank efficiencies are highly affected by their association with the bank groups. The efficiencies of foreign banks are higher than those of domestic banks both before and after managerial inefficiencies are eliminated. Surprisingly, foreign banks are found to have been highly or fully efficient during the global financial crisis, once the managerial inefficiencies are removed
Selecting The Best ERP system for SMEs using a combination of ANP and PROMETHEE methods
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, which integrates all of the units within an organization at the information level, plays an important role for a successful enterprise. With the right ERP system, it is easier to provide coordination.between the units, eliminate waste and make faster and better decisions. Adopting an ERP system is a significant investment decision for a firm, therefore a great deal of attention should be given to the selection of the right system. Since there are a large number of criteria to consider in selecting an ERP system, the process itself is regarded as a complex multi-criteria decision making problem. In this study, two prevalent multi-criteria decision making techniques, Analytic Network Process (ANP) and Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluations (PROMETHEE), are used in combination to better address the ERP selection problem. First, ANP is used to determine the weights of all criteria, and then, the obtained weights are used in the PROMETHEE method for optimal ranking of the alternative system choices. To demonstrate the viability of the proposed methodology, an application case is performed on the ERP selection problem for the Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Istanbul, Turkey. The proposed hybrid methodology successfully ranked the alternatives and identified the best ERP system based on the information obtained from a number of SMEs participated in this study. Education: a comparative structural equation modeling study
The increase in competition and intensifying market forces encouraged universities to sustain quality improvement in Higher Education Institutions. The aim of this paper is to introduce a conceptual model of student satisfaction with higher education experience based on the identification of the variable determinants of student perceived quality and the impact of those variables on student satisfaction and/or dissatisfaction with the overall student experience. This study concerns students in higher education institutions in Istanbul Turkey. This paper uses 41 item instrument of service quality which is applicable for TQM in education industry taking the SERVQUAL five dimensions for quality as basis. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses empirically verified and validated the underlying dimensions of perception of student satisfaction, TQM and organizational performance. Structural equation modeling was used to estimate the models and compare coefficients and latent means. In other words structural equation modeling was employed to test the model drawing on a sample of 1752 students from private universities. Decision makers will be able to use this instrument to identify the extent of TQM implementation in higher education institutions, while researchers will be able to use it for furthering TQM research in education. The results can be used by higher education institutions to renovate their quality-management processes and education quality strategies. (C) 2012 Published by Elsevier Ltd
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
