Green Economy Potential in the Organization of Turkic States: Comparison of Economic Indicators
Purpose. The main objective of this study is to assess the potential of the green economy to promote economic growth and development in the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS). The object of the study is the OTS countries, and the subject is the analysis of green economy potential and comparison of relevant economic indicators. Design / Method / Approach. The research draws on data from international sources, including UNECE, TheGlobalEconomy, national statistics of Azerbaijan, and other open datasets. A systems approach, logical generalization, comparative analysis, and cause-and-effect reasoning were applied. Findings. The study addresses: (1) the green economy as a category of modern mutually beneficial development; (2) comparison of economic growth and green economy indicators in OTS countries; (3) green economy potential in Azerbaijan; and (4) the experience of green economy implementation in OTS states. The authors identify key challenges and propose recommendations for improving the implementation of green economy objectives. Theoretical Implications. All OTS countries show interest in green economy development by attracting investment and creating favorable conditions in industrial zones, agriculture, transport, and tourism. Practical Implications. Each OTS member has adopted a strategy for greening the economy and is gradually implementing its elements in alignment with national goals. Originality / Value. The study introduces a green economy index, identifies barriers to economic growth and sustainable development, and highlights structural shifts in the economy driven by green economy expansion. Research Limitations / Future Research. The main limitation is the lack of a complete statistical base. Nonetheless, the study formulates conclusions and proposes measures to address identified issues. Article Type. Applied, empirical research paper
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Innovations and Structural Problems of Industry: Comparative Analysis of Azerbaijan’s Indicators with Turkish Republics
Azerbaijan's economy has a tendency for the growth of industry (processing), to strengthen the role of industry on an innovative basis, creating the foundations of sustainability and stability in conditions of depletion of natural resources and deterioration of the environmental condition. Therefore, an idea is being formed about a new quality of economic growth, which assumes a preferential increase in production due to intensive factors of growth and development; orientation towards final production that satisfies the consumer needs of the population; a combination of economic growth rates with the structural restructuring of production, as it ensures the necessary quality of economic growth and development. If the structure of the economy meets the requirements of modern economic growth and development, then this structure provides a new quality of economic growth and vice versa. It is important to know at the expense of what resources structural changes will occur, what investments will be needed for this, and how much the existing structure will contribute to the flow of investment. A qualitatively new structural policy is advisable, based on an analysis of the changes that have been observed in recent years of economic development. It is these quantitative and qualitative changes that increase the relevance of management influence on the economic structure, which requires an assessment of the ongoing structural changes, that is, the current situation and the realities of the investment process. The main problems of industrial growth are 1) inefficient sectoral and technological structure of the industry (high-tech production - 2-3% of output, although in developed countries it is 15-17%); 2) low labor productivity; 3) high material intensity, energy intensity, import dependence, low level of use of public investment, low level of coordination, modern equipment is purchased for the production of non-innovative products
Роль інновацій у зміцненні економіки Азербайджану в умовах переходу до Індустрії 5.0: на прикладі порівняльного аналізу показників деяких країн Євразії
The object of the study is innovative transformations in the context of Azerbaijan's transition to Industry 5.0. Innovative development not only strengthens the national economy, but also creates preconditions for the entry of competitive industrial products and services into world markets in the context of the transition to Industry 5.0. Innovative transformations are possible only with investments from both the state and industrial enterprises' own funds, as well as by attracting foreign capital. In this regard, the article examines the indicators of both Azerbaijan innovative development and Azerbaijan investment indicators in comparison with similar indicators of a number of Eurasian countries in the context of the transition to Industry 5.0.
The authors used both innovation development indices and statistical indicators of industry in other Eurasian countries to determine Azerbaijan’s innovation capabilities in the context of the transition to Industry 5.0. The article also examines internal and external factors influencing innovation development in Azerbaijan and investment attractiveness in the republic. The study showed that large innovation and investment projects in the liberated lands attract foreign investors from both near and far abroad. Particularly noteworthy are investments from the Organization of Turkic Countries (OTC) – from Turkey, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan. They are actively involved in the creation of smart cities, industrial facilities, transport infrastructure and telecommunications, as well as tourist facilities. Innovative development of Azerbaijan depends on the strategy of implementation of innovative investment projects. This strategy includes improvement of produced science-intensive products and services; and development of high technologies, especially information technologies. These areas include the creation and management of two artificial satellites of Azerbaijan, the petrochemical industry, the mechanical engineering industry. As well as the information technology sector, the ICT sector, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics industry based on the use of unique plants (saffron, medicinal oils from walnuts, hazelnuts, juices from unripe grapes, fig leaves) in the process of transition to Industry 5.0.
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
koamabayili/VECTRON-author-checklist: VECTRON author checklist
We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
