This manuscript is in good condition and has the name of the translator/author, Mālam Ibrahim Abubakar Yusuf Ṣūfī, along with the date of publication (1423 A.H.), and the full address of the sponsor (Markaz).This 41-page manuscript titled, Islamic History in Yoruba Anjemi, talks about the history of Islam, especially the life history of Prophet Muḥammad, Peace be upon him. On the cover page, which is mostly written in Yoruba Anjemi, there is a Qur’anic verse which roughly translates: "Verily, these stories are the truth of the histories..." Although titled a history book, this work also includes parts on Fiqh – Islamic Jurisprudence, and Tawḥīd -- unification or oneness of God. The author used the standard Mashriqi style of writing, and numbered the pages in Arabic numerals. Unlike most Yoruba Anjemi translated works, the author begins with an introduction in Yoruba Anjemi, instead of Arabic.The contents of this collection were developed with support of the Title VI National Resource Center grant # P015A180164 from the U.S. Department of Education. It is in good condition and has the name of the translator, al-Ḥājj Ibrahim bn al-Ḥājj Abubakar Yusuf, with the date of publishing (1423 A.H.).This manuscript titled Al-Ḥaqqu bi Al-Ḥaqqi fi Madḥi Sāḥib Al-Ḥaqqi, also known as Waka Al-Ḥaqqu (The Truth with the Truth in Praising the Truthful One) is a short pocket-sized book of poems, proclaiming the truthfulness and glory of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. Waka is a generic name for poems eulogizing the Prophet, and various tags are attached to the particular one in question. This one is Waka al-Ḥaqqu. Written in Yoruba Anjemi, using the standard Mashriqi style of writing, the author, Al-Ḥājj Ibrahim as-Sufi opens with a concise introduction in Arabic, setting the stage for the poem. Then he goes on to rhapsodize about the truthful nature of Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah. Famous among the Yoruba Muslim communities, it is mostly chanted during prayer groups, Islamic functions, and other gatherings. Get PDFThe growth recorded a few decades ago in the development of ICTs had a fundamental impact on the legal practice, legal education and administration of justice in various countries of the world. This development has indeed increased the pace of world economic cum political activities. The development is also transforming the traditional legal practice landscape. IT infrastructure and tools offer bundles of opportunities for advancing quality of legal service delivery and effective administration of justice. ICTs has changed the entire global legal practice landscape and law firms, regardless of their size must be fully ready to migrate into the virtual legal community and take advantage of the opportunities offered by the digital revolution. Against the above backdrop, this paper synthesizes the inevitable paradigm shift which ICTs has foisted on legal practice, legal education and administration of justice. The discourse examines the response of the legal profession to this development and identifies the challenges it poses as a result of IT integration in legal practices and administration of justice. The discourse formulates the thesis and provides empirical evidence to establish that legal practice and administration of justice are experiencing positive development in the information technology age. It also addresses the concern of one of the extreme schools of thought which interprets these changes as being symptomatic of the decline of the legal profession. The paper concludes by advocating for total embrace of digital technology in contemporary legal practice, legal education and administration of justice. The methodology employed in evaluating the impact of IT on legal practice, legal education and administrations of justice are analytical and critical approaches. The paper offers a general conclusion on the challenges of integration of ICTs in today‘s legal practice and administration of justice and proffers pragmatic recommendations on the future of legal practice in the information age
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
