An Analysis of Scientific Literacy of Students of SMPN 4 Tanjung Pinang and of SMPN 6 Tanjung Pinang
This study aimed to describe the results of the analysis of scientific literacy skills of students of SMPN 4 Tanjung Pinang and SMPN 6 Tanjung Pinang. This research is descriptive research. The technique of sampling was purposive sampling. The data collection technique used the PISA scientific literacy questions of 2015 and was supported by interviews between students and a teacher. The data analysis technique was carried out by calculating the average value of the students’ scientific literacy test results. The technique of checking the validity of the data used triangulation. The results showed that the achievement of students’ scientific literacy was in the low category. The conclusion of this study is the achievement of the result of the scientific literacy test of students of SMPN 4 Tanjung Pinang and SMPN 6 Tanjung Pinang based on the total score showed that the ability of students of SMPN 4 Tanjung Pinang in answering scientific literacy questions is higher than the students of SMPN 6 Tanjung Pinang
Implementation of “Make a Match” Type of Cooperative Learning Model Assisted With Student Worksheets (Lkpd) to Improve VII Grade Students' Learning Competences in Natural Science Subject in SMPN 5 Padang
The purpose of the research was to know the improvement of students' cognitive competence in learning IPA by implementing “make a match” type of cooperative learning model assisted by student worksheets (LKPD) in SMPN 5 Padang. This research was a Classroom Action Research. It consisted of two cycles. Each cycle included planning, acting, observing and reflecting stages. The subject of the research was 32 students of grade VII7 in SMPN 5 Padang in academic year 2017/2018. The instruments used were students' test, camera recordings and field notes. The data of the research were analyzed in descriptive qualitative method. The research finding showed that the implementation of “make a match” type of cooperative learning model assisted by LKPD can improve students' cognitive competences from cycle I to cycle II. The percentage of cognitive competence mastery in cycle I was 78% (good enough). Meanwhile, in cycle II, the percentage of cognitive competence mastery was 94% (very good). So, it can be concluded that through implementing “make a match” type of cooperative learning model assisted by LKPD, it can improve VII7 grade students' cognitive competences in learning IPA in SMPN 5 Padang
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
FOLLICLE STIMULATING HORMONE RECEPTOR Ser680Asn POLYMORPHISM IN WOMEN WITH POLYCYSTIC OVARY
Polymorphisms at codon 680 (Ser680Asn) of FSH receptor gene affected the basal FSH levels and sensitivity of FSH receptor to FSH exogenous in women undergoing assisted reproduction program in some ethnics in the world, while it could not proved in others. This study aims to determine the association of polymorphisms Ser680Asn in patients with polycystic ovary (PCO) in Indonesian population. The study involved 30 PCO patients and 30 normal women. Polymorphisms analysis was performed by PCR - RFLP. ELISA was used to detect FSH level. Statistical analysis was done by chi - square and t tests. This study shows the homozygote variant Ser/Ser is significantly different in distribution between patients and normal women where it is more frequent in PCO women. In normal women, the three allelic variant distributed normally. There is no significant different in FSH level in three genotipe between patients and normal women. Conclution: There is a significant different in genotype distribution of FSH receptor gene between PCO patients and normal women for polymorphism at codon 680 but it was not associated with FSH level
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Validity of Student Work Sheet Based Guided Inquiry on Learning Materials of Organism Classification and Life Organization for MTs Students Grade VII
Curriculum is an educational response to societies’ and nations’ needs in developing young generation. The curriculum gives a significant contribution to bring the development process of students’ potential in learning into reality. Learning of Science (IPA) emphasizes on the ability to do scientific inquiry to raise cognitive, affective, and communicative skills. IPA includes four main elements: attitude, process, product, and application. IPA learning process is expected to raise those four elements so that students can experience the whole learning process, and it can be used to solve life’s problems. It can be reached by applying one learning model, that is ‘guided inquiry learning model’. The learning process cannot also apart from learning materials. One of the materials is student work sheet, which is able to improve students’ skill process. The aim of the research was to develop student work sheet based guided inquiry for MTs students grade VII and to validate its criteria. The research was a development research using Plomp model. The Validity of student work sheet based guided inquiry was obtained from the result of expert validity sheets done by four experts. The result of this research showed that in didactic aspect got 77,08% with the criteria was valid, construct aspect got 90% with very valid criteria, technical aspect got 85,93% with the criteria was very valid, and the average of these three aspects got 84,33% with the criteria was very valid. Student work sheet based guided inquiry was successful to be developed by validity criteria, which was very valid. Then, it is expected that it can be a qualified and innovative learning material to help improve students’ learning competence
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
