Assessing Gender Vulnerability within Post-earthquake Reconstruction: Case Study from Indonesia
Understanding types of gender vulnerability and its determinants within disaster management context is useful to protect women
and men from greater destabilization, to achieve better process of disaster management, to enhance sustainability of
reconstruction and to build community resilience. Using mixed method combining qualitative and quantitative data analysis, this
study reveals various dimensions of gender vulnerability within post-earthquake reconstruction at Yogyakarta province. This
study found that the physical dimension (ie: women with disabilities, pregnant women, elderly women) four types of social dimension (ie homeless women, violence against women, widow with many dependents, women heading household) and two types of economic dimension (ie women with debt burden and women with lack of productive assets)are the most prominent dimension.Existing patriarchal culture and weak of gendered institution are the root causes of gender vulnerability. This study suggests assessing gender vulnerability within post-disaster reconstruction helps key
stakeholders to identify dimensions and determinants of gender vulnerability that should be tackled to ensure gender equality
within post-disaster reconstruction
Improvement of customer satisfaction through OTAs website: Tri Giao Hotel, Vietnam
This thesis aims to, first and foremost, gain a more in-depth understanding of customer rates and reviews of Tri Giao Hotel on OTA websites. The author selected six leading OTA websites to conduct the research, i.e. TripAdvisor, Booking, Expedia, Agoda, Facebook, and Google. In addition, the study compared the Tri Giao Hotel with other four hotels, which are also local brand hotel and have 4-star international standard, in a competitive set. Finally, this thesis explored satisfaction and dissatisfaction determinants of service quality can affect customer satisfaction.
Since the main customers of Tri Giao Hotel are charters and from travel agencies, the customers from OTA have not been focused. Therefore, this research-oriented thesis selected Tri Giao Hotel as the commissioning company. This study used qualitative methods such as observation, interview with FOM, data collection on OTA websites, and content analysis. These methods are based on conceptual framework and theoretical framework, especially SERVQUAL model. After that, decisive factors that affect customers’ decisions to book a hotel room online were discovered. Hence, some suggestions on how to improve customer satisfaction through the OTA website were given.
The results revealed that the service quality of Tri Giao Hotel has a significant impact on customer satisfaction. Combining all the reviews on six main OTA websites, the hotel received 301 customer reviews and 199 written comments. The hotel review index was 90.6% and the management response was 58.8%. The service, staff, and value of the hotel makes the customer the most satisfied. However, the location of hotel and quality of the food were the main weaknesses that need to be improved. Besides, some other factors also affected customer satisfaction. Suggestions and new ideas were briefly discussed to improve customers’ satisfaction to Tri Giao Hotel

Using author tri-citation analysis to map knowledge domains in knowledge representations
Purpose
Previous commonly used author co-citation analysis (ACA) methods have limited the ability to deal with accidental co-citation in constructing a raw co-citation matrix. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to propose a new method, called author tri-citation analysis (ATA), to better map knowledge domains and depict scientific intellectual structures.
Design/methodology/approach
Different from the previous method of using ACA that captures author co-citation relationships, the ATA method seeks tri-citation relationships among authors. Compared with ACA, ATA can ignore some accidental co-citation relationships between authors and can improve the accuracy of mapping knowledge domains.
Findings
Although ATA does not mine more sub-fields than ACA does, the results of the empirical studies show that ATA, the newly proposed method, performs better in knowledge domain maps based on publications in the field of computer science.
Research limitations/implications
The definition of ATA in this article is simple and still insufficiently informative. Many other pieces of information can be involved; for example, all authors’ information, authors’ sequence in the author list, reference published time and similar. These can be enhanced in future studies.
Practical implications
This research will enrich the methods of mapping knowledge domains due to its new perspective.
Social implications
Knowledge domain mapping is important to understand a discipline, and this research provides more potential methods for this, which benefits the performance of the maps.
Originality/value
ATA can provide a methodological awareness for mapping knowledge domains. This value lies in not only a tri-citation perspective, but also author bibliographic tripling and author tri-operation perspectives (“tri-” perspectives).

Gender Maistreaming and Sustainable Post-Disaster Reconstruction: Earthquake Regions in Indonesia
Mainstreaming gender within reconstruction is vital to enhance sustainable development in disaster affected regions. Promoting needs and concerns of women and men as well as their experience and knowledge in all process of reconstruction can fulfill sustainable post-disaster reconstruction. Studies have found that failure to address gender issues in post-disaster reconstruction will hinder the opportunities of reconstruction to achieve sustainable development. Yet, many cases of reconstruction activities across developing countries failed to promote gender mainstreaming. This research aims to provide policy-relevant findings regarding strategies for mainstreaming gender with the aim of achieving sustainability in post-earthquake reconstruction in Indonesia.
The case of gender mainstreaming issues at post-disaster reconstruction at Bantul and Sleman Yogyakarta Indonesia were examined. Multiple case studies were applied to achieve the aim and objectives of the study. Accordingly, the sequential mixed-method approach was used with the primary data collection methods are semi-structure interviews and questionnaires. For analyzing the qualitative data, the study chooses content analysis technique along with descriptive and inferential statistics that be used for quantitative data analysis.
This study confirms that women are not only more vulnerable but also have a larger number of vulnerabilities. Women face all dimensions of gender vulnerability during reconstruction. Among the most vulnerable groups are pregnant women, women with disabilities and older women. Despite their vulnerability, women can make a difference during reconstruction through their economic, social and environmental capacities. This study shows that women’s capacities in the economic, social and environmental dimensions not only substantially reduce their families’ and communities’ vulnerability but also enhance the sustainability of their families and communities following an earthquake. This study further shows that gender mainstreaming strategies within sustainable reconstruction should incorporate not only strategies for protecting against gender vulnerabilities but also strategies for promoting gender capacities. Both are fundamental to the achievement of sustainable reconstruction. Further, this study presents key enabling and constraining factors in the mainstreaming gender into sustainable post-disaster reconstruction. These stem from government, non-government organizations, and society. The key enabling factor on the part of government is strong women’s leadership, while the key enabling factor from society is support from active roles for women’s groups. This study shows that adequate technical and financial supports are the key factors from non-government organizations. The key constraining factor from the government is resistance from senior bureaucrats, whereas key constraining factors o
Analisis kebijakan pengentasan kemiskinan di Indonesia
The developmental policy implemented currently, through Indonesia was prior to facing with economic crisis, indicated economically good performances. The economy growth achieved 7% per year, inflation was below two-digits level, and per capita income was us 250. However, it has been realized completely that such ideal condition could, in fact, not be enjoyed by the whole community evenly. This can bee seen clearlyfrom the percentage of population living in poverty. Entering long-term development (PJP) II, there was 25,9 milliaon or 13,7 percent of Indonesian people still living in poverty (Sumodiningrat, 2001, p.31). This condition was get suffered by the occurrence of monetary crisis that grew then become multidimensional crisis that carried implications of the increase of the poor number. In addition, the crisis had increased number of the unemployed and poor people. Accourding to The Employment Departement estimation (in Sumodiningrat, 2001, p. 38), the amount of unemployment was predicted approximately 13,4 milion. BPS estimated the number of the poor increased to be 79,4 million or 39,1 precent. In view of this phenomena, and according to the mandate of Constitution of 1945, that is, development is conducted to improve all Indonesian people welfare, any efforts of formulating and implementing poverty reduction is very urgent to execute, mainly those living in proverty
