This paper focuses on finding out what meaning is reflected in the phenomenon of rejection of ornamental design of the 75th Anniversary of Indonesia's Independence, from the perspective of Yuri Lotman's (Tartu-Moscow-Semiotic School) cultural semiotics. This ornament has become a polemic in society, because a group of people feels that there is a visual cross in it, which is a representation of a certain group. The research finding states that rejection of the ornamental design for the 75th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia occurred because a group of people felt that the “sign” in the design represented a certain group, outside them. This opinion is described by Yuri Lotman as the concept of "the inner space" (we/us) and "the outer space" (them). According to him, each culture has boundaries for defining itself (Semenenko, 2012). Everything outside "us" is "not our culture" (non-culture) or "foreign" (alien), and is often considered not good because it is not "like us" (Lorusso, 2015).   yuri lotman's (Tartu-Moscow Semiotic School) cultural semiotics, nationalism, pluralit

Game of Thrones Sebagai Arsitektur Ekonomi Politik Global Versi Indonesia

Abstract As part of the political communication channel, speech is an essential tool to convey messages, especially at the global political scope. In a speech at the IMF-World Bank 2018 meeting, President Joko Widodo used the phrase \u27winter is coming\u27 from the story of the popular television series Game of Thrones as a presupposition of the global political economy situation. Based on President Jokowi\u27s speech, this paper aims to understand the changes in the international political architecture caused by the spirit of economic liberalism from developed countries. The study applied the discourse analysis approach of Norman Fairclough\u27s version. Referring to Fairclough, presuppositions are the key to understanding how reality is differentiated and presented. In examining the contents of the speech, the author will choose words/sentences that lexically relate to Game of Thrones or the context of de-globalization through the phenomenon of protectionism and trade war. The speech represents an attempt to protest from developing countries to the superpower countries. President Jokowi reminded superpower countries that the protectionism and trade wars will only lead to de-globalization. Instead of competing for power domination, Indonesia is calling for the idea of an equilibrium hegemony in the political economy to all member-states

The undetected enemy French and American miscalculations at Dien Bien Phu, 1953

The French Indo-China War of 1946-54 was one of the longest and bloodiest conflicts of the twentieth century. Dien Bien Phu became the site of the decisive battle of the French Indo-China War. Indeed, the French defeat at Dien Bien Phu set the stage for America's own military involvement in Viet-Nam a decade later. Yet despite its historic importance, there is still uncertainty about why the French chose to fight in a location that, in hindsight, involved such risks. In The Undetected Enemy, John Nordell examines that question by telling the full story of the strategic, tactical, logistical, and intelligence considerations that underlay the French decision. This book also gives close attention to the reaction of the Eisenhower administration to the French seizure of Dien Bien Phu, an important part of the story that, until now, has been overlooked. Using war memoirs, press coverage, and archived documents only recently declassified, the author weaves a compelling narrative of rapidly unfolding developments in Dien Bien Phu, Hanoi, Saigon, and Washington, D.C

Dien Bien Phu the epic battle America forgot

The fighting began in November 1953, when French paratroopers seized a small airstrip in northwestern Vietnam. It ended in May 1954 with tens of thousands of Vietminh troops overrunning the besieged garrison. A third of the 15,000 defenders died in combat; fewer than a hundred escaped into the jungle. Thousands more died in captivity. Dien Bien Phu is recognized as one of history's great battles and as a turning point for American policy: the French defeat led to the fateful U.S. commitment to Vietnam. Ironically, the U.S. military repeated many of the French mistakes. American Howard R. Simpson was there as a combat reporter and photographer. His account is a personal one - that of a man who shared meals and wine and danger with the doomed soldiers. A much-published defense expert, Simpson is uniquely qualified to tell the dramatic story of this famous last stand. Aided by interviews with dozens of survivors from both sides - including victorious Gen. Vo Nguyen Giap - his book will rank with Bernard Fall's bestselling Hell in a Very Small Place as a classic work on an event as significant for the United States as it was for France. Dien Bien Phu is being published on the fortieth anniversary of the French defeat and contains rare combat photos by the author and the French Foreign Legion

There were over many participants who were village elders, village heads, family heads, clan heads, parents; people of marriageable age; juvenile; students at Ethnic Minority Boarding Schools, high schools and junior high schools. However, the situation of violations of child marriage in Dien Bien district, Dien Bien province is still complicated, especially the situation occurs with junior high school students who are ethnic minorities. Facing the above situation, ethnic minority schools – which are specialized schools, established for children of ethnic minorities, children of ethnic minority families who permanently settle in areas with special socio-economic condition difficulties in order to contribute to the training of cadres in these regions. The junior high school is organized and operates according to the regulations of the charter of the junior high school – a level of education in the education system in Vietnam, located between primary school and high school; lower secondary school lasts 4 years from 6th to 9th grade, the age of children from 11 to 15 should pay special attention to education on prevention of early marriage and consanguineous marriage for students. Stemming from those reasons, the author chose the research topic. The paper finds out that education for these children is a very necessary task we must take it into consideration

The internationally renowned Muong Phang Cultural and Historical Site is located in the Dien Bien Phu region, northwestern Vietnam, and has received special attention from the public because of its great biodiversity. This site has a large forest area and other habitats including lakes, streams, rivers and paddyfield. These habitats would be ideal homes for bats and other biological taxa. However, in general, the wildlife of the Muong Phang Cultural and Historical Site receives little attention from scientists and authorities. Between 2014 and 2016, we conducted  series of surveys for bats in Muong Phang. Bat capture and sound recordings were the main procedure to obtain materials and data necessary for the assessment of diversity and conservation status. The results of the surveys this time revealed that there are 19 species of bats belonging to 7 genera, 5 families in the study area. Of these, a Myotis sp. is different from all the previously recorded Myotis bats from Vietnam, and, a Rhinolophus sp. is different from every described species of the family Rhinolophidae. This paper provides the first records of bats from Muong Phang with remarks on their taxonomy and conservation status.   Citation: Dao Nhan Loi, Vu Dinh Thong, 2017. Evaluation of 172 T-cell receptor/peptide/MHC molecular dynamics simulations using MATLAB

Gro2mat: a package to efficiently read gromacs output in MATLAB. J. Comput. Chem., 35:1528-1531.Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations are a widely used method for analysing spatial dynamics of molecules at atomic resolution, which current experiments struggle to do. Here, it has been used to study the interaction between the T-cell receptor (TCR) and the major histocompatibility complex (MHC), which is one of the most important processes in adaptive immunology. Although a lot of research has been done in this area, the detailed structural trigger, which determines the immunogenicity of a peptide bound between TCR and MHC, is still unclear. To study this issue, 172 MD simulations of a previously published study were analysed. These simulations include the LC13 TCR in complex with HLA-B*08:01 and Epstein-Barr-Virus (EBV) single mutant peptides. It has been hypothesized that peptides of different immunogenicity levels differ in their spatial dynamics. To further study this hypothesis, the author of this thesis implemented an XTC parser to read and load the data of these 172 MD simulations into MATLAB. Then the 172 MD simulations were separated into two groups named groupL and groupM. GroupL represents all MD trajectories with a lower immunogenicity level and GroupM represents all MD trajectories with a higher immunogenicity level. For each group and selected regions (CDR3-ß, residues ALA683, TYR415, TYR684 and peptide position seven), the Euclidean distance, root mean square distance (RMSD), and the standard root mean square fluctuation (RMSF) were calculated. Then the results of these calculations of each group were analyzed and compared to the other group. This thesis shows that groupM and groupL do not differ significantly from each other in terms of distance distributions and RMSF. All data analyses and calculations were performed in MATLAB. The final version of the XTC parser was implemented and published: H Dien, CM Deane, B Knapp (2014). Gro2mat: a package to efficiently read gromacs output in MATLAB. J. Comput. Chem., 35:1528-1531
