Seeking the Breakthrough of the Internationalization of Yu-tong Bus Company

    No full text
Nowadays, China bus industry has stepped into a relative fast development stage. Domestic manufacturers have turned their attention to the international market. Yu-tong Bus Company, as one of the first-class and representative manufacturers in the industry, has made indubitable achievements in the international market, especially in middle and low-end market. However, for the process of internationalization, Yu-tong still needs to confront some barriers and obstacles. Particularly, for high-end market, more gaps exist which lead to the limitation of its competitive forces. In the thesis, we made the SWOT analysis about the export condition of Yu-tong according to the materials and data that we collected, combining with the relevant theories, conducting various analysis and investigations, we considered “Reverse FDI”(Reverse Foreign Direct Investment) as more appropriate and effective way for the internationalization, and revolving around the theory, we mainly concentrated on the extending of high-end market, tabled some proposals about seeking the breakthrough in the internationalization of Yu-tong Bus Company

Functional particles for controlled release and cell surface engineering

Engineered polymer vesicles (polymersome) have emerged as the new generation of molecular and cell carriers for a series of biomedical applications. These polymer vesicles typically present as hollow spheres that contain a hydrophilic core surrounded by a hydrophobic membrane, each of which can be loaded with a wide array of small and large molecules of interest. With the capacity to engineer and compartmentalize the properties of these particles, they can be tailored with unique design specifics to meet different applications. In this regard, the overall goal of my thesis research is to construct a functional polymersome system by implementing stimuli-responsiveness and surface modification to overcome various biological challenges. Chapter 2 demonstrates a stimuli-responsive particle with an enhanced release profile as a new formulation pathway to assemble the hemostatic fibrin-based matrix. Chapter 3 presents a polymersome-based cell adherent nanostimulator for enhanced stem cell paracrine factor secretion. I further demonstrated applications of these particle platforms in the treatment of hindlimb ischemia associate with chronic kidney disease (Chapter 4) and the delivery of CD44-binding particles for enhanced retention in aged mice associated with Alzheimer’s disease (Chapter 5). Overall, these studies present a deeper understanding of how to incorporate engineering strategies to construct functional hemostatic gelators and nanostimulator to enhance the biological efficacy of molecular and cell therapies.Submission published under a 24 month embargo labeled 'Closed Access', the embargo will last until 2023-05-01The student, Yu-Tong Hong, accepted the attached license on 2021-04-15 at 13:03.The student, Yu-Tong Hong, submitted this Dissertation for approval on 2021-04-15 at 13:14.This Dissertation was approved for publication on 2021-04-19 at 09:21.DSpace SAF Submission Ingestion Package generated from Vireo submission #16349 on 2021-09-16 at 20:09:58Made available in DSpace on 2021-09-17T04:04:26Z (GMT). Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Music and its effect on typing speed for clerical worker during postprandial somnolence state / Lin Yu Tong

This research aims to examine the hypothetical assumption that music and its stimulative effect may increase typing speed for postprandial clerical workers. Past studies in postprandial somnolence generally focused on factors such as effects of food intake or biological clock on postprandial somnolence. However, there is a lack of research on the effect of music on typing speed for postprandial clerical workers. This study employed 50 clerical workers in two groups of twenty-five. They were exposed to three different environments; no music, slow music and fast music. The results and their answers in the questionnaire were recorded. 28 participants out of the 50 were then selected for further research as they displayed significant expression of postprandial sleepiness. The study also covered the possible disparity of effects on music exposure with or without headphones. Group 1 was exposed to music with the use of headphones whereas Group 2 was exposed to music without the use of headphones. Typing efficiency in the span of 120 seconds and questionnaire data were gathered and analysed with the use of SPANOVA, repeated measured ANOVA and Likert scale. The resulting outcome showed substantial influence of music, regardless of fast or slow paced, on the typing efficiency of the participants. Fast music induced more accuracy in the participants, however it is also of note that the participants who were exposed to fast music with the use of headphones scored better than the participants who were exposed to the same music without the use of headphones. An interesting observation remains, that participants who were exposed to slow music however, were able to type more words. This study proves that music helps to stimulate better performance and efficiency for postprandial clerical workers

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
