The corpus creation process involved a manual search for translated novels available on Webnovel.com within the NOVEL category, only targeting completed works. Subsequently, each identified translated novel was mapped with its original counterpart on Qidian.com. As a result, we got 120 novels (from which 10 of these novels' copyright on Qidian.com had expired, so no data for this 10 novels on Qidian). The final corpus consists of 110 novels, and all the reader comments and replies to the novels. (Timestamp 01/09/2024). Comments and replies are categorized by book-level, chapter-level and paragraph level, and stored by per novel. For example: We also collected the user profiles of readers who has left comments or replies on the novels. We only collected personal data that are necessary for the purpose of the scientific research, and strictly abide by the GDPR

"Put your own house in order first": local perceptions of EU influence on Romani integration policies in the Czech Republic

This article examines the influence of the European Union (EU) on the development and implementation of Romani integration policy in the Czech Republic from the perspective of those responsible for policy delivery. Based on analysis of key policy documents and research conducted in the Czech Republic, this article first examines how Romani integration became a more important issue during membership negotiations and then discusses how the criticism of the European Commission's Regular Reports was received by those responsible for implementing pro-Romani policies. Finally, the paper assesses how the status of full EU membership has impacted on integration policy. The article concludes that while funding for Romani integration projects has benefitted some groups, the overall impression of the EU is of a remote institution, quick to criticise and unwilling to practise what it preaches

It borns in arid mountains, river valleys and riparian thickets, at elevations between 1700 m and 3000 m. The associated woody plants in this area are R. laxa, R. albertii, Berberis sp., Caragana sp., etc. Phenology: —Flowering from June to July, fruiting from August to October. Etymology: —The specific epithet refers to the distribution where the new species was first discovered. Paratypes: — CHINA. Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, Akesu Prefecture, Wensu County, Tuomuerfeng Natural Preservation Areas, in river valleys, ca. 1800m, 24 September 2017, L. Luo, C. Yu, Y. J. Sui, F. Yang & S. Reframing the Social: A Contribution from the Perspective of Emergentist Systemism

    No full text
This dissertation is centered around questions concerning the social (social ontology) and its relationship to social research. One of its major reference points is the philosophical system (characterized as emergentist systemism in this dissertation) developed by the accomplished Argentinian-Canadian physicist and philosopher Mario Bunge. This dissertation draws extensively on the research findings of natural and social sciences, both in America and Europe, to argue for a systemist (i.e. transcending both macro- and micro-reductionism), realist, and critical approach to social ontology. In particular, Luhmann’s, Bunge’s, and critical social systems theorists’ formulations of social ontology, as well as Luhmann’s premature shift of focus from ontology to epistemology, are discussed and evaluated in depth. The approach developed in this dissertation is also extended to contribute to the wider debates within sociological theory and analysis, including the project of analytical sociology (as advanced by, among others, Peter Hedström and Jon Elster), critical realism, reductionism, emergence, micro-macro link, social structure and human agency, dialectics of nature, and causality and mechanism-based (microfoundational) explanations in social science

Towns in the regional policy of activation of peripheral areas – choosing problems – the case of northern Poland

In Polish regions there are big differences of the level of development between metropolitan areas (and others surroundings of big cities) and peripheral ones. These differences refere also to the factors and chances of development – in the peripheral areas there are little of them. What could help the activation of those areas is the development of some of the cities, including the localization of the investments. But the development usually requires the support of regional politics resources. In the area of the authors' interests there are problems of regional politics, 1) Which cities should be supported to activate the best peripheral areas of the regions? 2) What kind of transformations of the city space should be supported as part of that politics? Author analyses the problems and relations presented above and designs scenarios of activation of the chosen peripheral areas of provinces in northern Poland.
