Em meio à reabertura política, diversos personagens de oposição e debates, tanto na imprensa quanto no governo, permearam o caso, que se estendeu até 1980.Abstract : This research analyzes the legal case initiated in 1977 against the chronicler Lourenço Diaféria for publishing Herói. Morto. Nós., a chronicle published in the indepence week of that year which was considerated offensive to the military rulers. The study was done from a consideration of the drawing up of journalistic chronicles of Diaféria in Folha de S. Paulo and the author?s relations in the context of the military dictatorship, especially in its last decade. Amid the political reopening, several characters of opposition and debate, both in the press as well as in government, permeated the case that lasted until 1980
Abstract: The present work follows three Brazilian travelers who were in Japan in the second half of the 19th century. Thus, from their travel writings, it was possible to study the first contacts between those countries and what happened before the Japanese immigration to Brazil. They are Francisco Antônio de Almeida, a scientist; Custódio de Mello, a military man; and Aluísio Azevedo, a diplomat. From 1874 to 1899 they recorded moments of political and social changes in Brazil, such as the passage from the empire to the republic, the process of abolishing slave labor, and the interest in Asian workers. Also, they reported the changes in Japan, with its opening and the consolidation as a modern nation. Throughout this work, we tried to understand these experiences in a broader context, in the face of imperialism at the end of the 19th century, in the dynamic, expanding, and interconnected world of the Second Industrial Revolution. The goal is to unveil the relations between race, labour and nation to understand the Brazilian interest in Japan and in the Japanese people, the relations preceding immigration, and the prominence construction given to Japan regarding other Asian countries
Trudi Landau (1920-2015) was a Jewish
woman who was born in Germany. She
came to Brazil with her husband, Jean
Landau, in 1946. In Brazil her only child
died, here she lived in a dictatorship and
found a form of social intervention in lit-
erature. She became a reader of journalistic
chronicle and chroniclers’ correspondent,
mainly for Lourenço Diaféria and Carlos
Drummond de Andrade. From a perspec-
tive that understands literature through
its interaction with the context, as a hu-
man practice at a historical process, we an-
alyze how the characteristics of the jour-
nalistic chronicle contributed to Trudi
Landau's interest in this literary genre
and how this literature became important
in her life and social relationships. Given
this relationship between reader, writers
and literary texts, this research aims to
contribute to the studies of history, litera-
ture and the press, especially with regard
to journalistic chronicles as a literary
genre.Trudi Landau (1920-2015) nasceu na
Alemanha em uma família judia e veio
para o Brasil com seu marido, Jean
Landau, em 1946. Já instalada no país
perdeu seu único filho, vivenciou a di-
tadura militar e encontrou na litera-
tura uma forma de intervir na reali-
dade e de estabelecer novos relaciona-
mentos. Tornou-se assídua leitora de
jornais e correspondente de cronistas,
especialmente de Lourenço Diaféria e
Carlos Drummond de Andrade. A
partir de uma perspectiva que com-
preende a literatura na interação com
o contexto, como prática humana inse-
rida em um processo histórico, procu-
ramos analisar as especificidades das
crônicas que despertaram o interesse
de Trudi Landau e entender como essa
produção se tornou parte importante
de suas ações e relações sociais. Diante
das relações entre leitora, escritores e
textos literários, buscamos contribuir
com os estudos que abordam história,
literatura e imprensa, principalmente
sobre a crônica jornalística como gê-
nero literário
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
