A YING–YANG THEORY IN NONLINEAR DISCRETE DYNAMICAL SYSTEMS
This paper presents a Ying–Yang theory for nonlinear discrete dynamical systems considering both positive and negative iterations of discrete iterative maps. In the existing analysis, the solutions relative to "Yang" in nonlinear dynamical systems are extensively investigated. However, the solutions pertaining to "Ying" in nonlinear dynamical systems are investigated. A set of concepts on "Ying" and "Yang" in discrete dynamical systems are introduced to help one understand the hidden dynamics in nonlinear discrete dynamical systems. Based on the Ying–Yang theory, the periodic and chaotic solutions in nonlinear discrete dynamical system are discussed, and all possible, stable and unstable periodic solutions can be analytically predicted. A discrete dynamical system with the Henon map is investigated, as an example.</jats:p

Modified Ying-Yang Flap for a Problematic Lesion in the Back Region
The Ying-Yang flap has been established as a safe and reliable option for the reconstruction of defects of varying sizes, providing effective tension distribution across multiple vectors while remaining less invasive than many conventional techniques. The evenly distributed tension promotes fast wound healing, preserves the anatomical integrity of surrounding tissues, and often results in a well-camouflaged final result. However, the technique can be further modified to achieve a more personalized reconstructive approach. In our case, a modified Ying-Yang was utilized for the reconstruction of a circular defect of the back following surgical excision of a problematic lesion. This modification offered several key advantages: 1) balanced tension distribution across multiple vectors, 2) preservation of native tissue architecture, 3) maintenance of vascular integrity to support flap viability, and 4) avoidance of complications commonly associated with skin grafts or more invasive reconstructive options - thereby providing a safer and functionally superior outcome

Ying-Yang approach to the optimization of fuzzy cerebellar model articulation controller
The Cerebellar Model Articulation Controller (CMAC) neural network has attractive properties of fast learning speed and simple computation, but its rigid structure is a disadvantage. Our research aims at the fuzzification phase and the rule weighting process to improve FCMAC by Bayesian Ying-Yang (BYY) learning, coevolution computation, and online learning.DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY(SCE
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Independent Component Analysis and Extensions with Noise and Time: A Bayesian Ying-Yang Learning Perspective
After summarizing typical approaches for solving independent component analysis (ICA) problems, advances on the ICA studies that consider hybrid sources of both subGaussians and superGaussians and the ICA extensions that consider noise and temporal dependence among observations have been overviewed from the perspective of Bayesian Ying-Yang independence learning. Not only new insights are provided on existing results in literature, but also a number of further results are presented
KCMAC-BYY: Kernel CMAC using Bayesian Ying-Yang learning
The Cerebellar Model Articulation Controller (CMAC) possesses attractive properties of fast learning and simple computation. In application, the size of its association vector is always reduced to economize the memory requirement, greatly constraining its modeling capability. The kernel CMAC (KMAC), which provides an interpretation for the traditional CMAC from the kernel viewpoint, not only strengthens the modeling capability without increasing its complexity, but reinforces its generalization with the help of a regularization term. However, the KCMAC suffers from the problem of selecting its hyperparameter. In this paper, the Bayesian Ying–Yang (BYY) learning theory is incorporated into KCMAC, referred to as KCMAC-BYY, to optimize the hyperparameter. The proposed KCMAC-BYY achieves the systematic tuning of the hyperparameter, further improving the performance in modeling and generalization. The experimental results on some benchmark datasets show the prior performance of the proposed KCMAC-BYY to the existing representative techniques
