In the case of Ayeyarwady Bank, this study explores the determinants of effective loan repayment performance of project financing. The study used descriptive structure and approach to quantitative research. Secondary data which are taken from the records of individual borrowers of AYA Bank. The total population was twenty-five (25), of which 13 (53%) were actively supported (non-default) projects while the remaining 12 (47%) were unsuccessful (default). The variables used in the analysis are project manager’s managerial experience, availability of raw material, equity to debt ratio, loan processing time, number of project follow-up, project implementation duration, and debt service coverage ratio. The paper reveals that project managers’ managerial experience, loan processing time, number of project supervisions / bank follow-ups, equity-to-debt ratio, lag in duration of project execution are significant determinants of AYA's funded projects ' loan repayment results. The study's policy implications suggest that Ayeyarwady Bank should intensify its project monitoring and follow-up work to make well-informed decisions and provide technical assistance to its loan-assisted projects; increase borrowers ' debt-to-equity ratio to make borrowers more ethically accountable; pay due attention to minimizing the bureaucracy that delays the loan processing time critically analyze the project implementation period at the time of project evaluation and enhance its project implementation capacity; identify and address the root causes of project delays, project managers' managerial experience and management type, among others

The main purposes of this study are to analyze the effect of change management practices on employee engagement and to examine the effect of employee engagement on job performance at Myanmar Airways International. There are over 500 employees at MAI and about 300 are currently working at middle and lower-level and are selected to collect data. In this study, 143 employees MAI are chosen by using the Raosoft sample size calculator. Simple random sampling method is applied and online survey method are used. For data analysis, both descriptive and regression methods are utilized in this study. Change management practices which include readiness for change, leadership involvement and process of change have positive and significant effect on employee engagement. Employee engagement has positive and significant effect on job performance at MAI. Myanmar Airways International should maintain and develop effective change management practices to generate efficient and productive job performance

This study aims to analyze the impact of the climate change on rice production in Minhla Township, Bago Division, Myanmar. To accomplish these objectives, primary and secondary data were used in this study. A sample of 120 rice farmers across eight villages were selected by using simple random sampling method. The primary data were collected by using structured questionnaire with five-point Likert scale items. In-depth interview was also conducted with rice farmers. Secondary data was obtained relevant text book, previous research and internet websites. The findings indicate that rainfall unpredictability, rising temperatures, and increased frequency of extreme weather events have significantly disrupted traditional rice farming. While many farmers have adapted their planting calendars and adopted climate-resilient rice varieties, the lack of institutional support and access to training remains a significant challenge. The study makes suggestions to improve rice-farming communities' ability to adapt

The development of telecommunication sector in Myanmar is an important factor for the development of the country in modern technological era. The development in education also depends on the use of new technology. The usage of mobile technology in learning has dramatically increased due to the availability of affordable data. This study bases on the development of telecommunication sector in Myanmar and focuses on students’ satisfaction with the uses of mobile technology and its impact on learning. The survey results are shown by descriptive methods, frequency statistics and percentages, graphs, and reliability analysis for mobile phone users’ satisfaction with distance mobile learning. The result finds that mobile phones are widely used among students, and these are the essential tools for the educational achievements of modern student life. Additionally, this study also found strong support for how these effects contribute to overall satisfaction with mobile phone use in learning and overall positive satisfaction leads to differentiated and continued mobile phone use in course learning at Yangon University of Economics

The objectives of this study are to identify the factors influencing financial behavior and to examine the effect of financial behavior on financial satisfaction among master’s students at Yangon University of Economics. To achieve these objectives, descriptive and quantitative research methods were employed, utilizing both primary and secondary data. Data were collected from 180 students enrolled in master programmes offered by the Department of Commerce, selected through proportional random sampling. Regression analysis was used as the primary data analysis technique. The results revealed that financial literacy, financial attitude, and self-control positively and significantly influence financial behavior, while lifestyle did not have a significant influence. Among these factors, financial literacy exerted the highest influence on the financial behavior of master students, whereas self-control had the lowest influence. Furthermore, the study found that financial behavior significantly affects financial satisfaction. This study recommends that the government, financial institutions, universities, and other stakeholders develop and enhance financial literacy programmes and initiatives to improve financial behavior and satisfaction among master students

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    Get PDF
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
