Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Full text linkWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used

This research employs descriptive analysis where the obtained data are analyzed qualitatively using relevant theories. The writer firstly analyzes the poem by reading the poems intensely and giving attention for each lines, then he tries to explicate them by examining the basic elements of poems such as: diction, imagery and figurative language that is continued with investigating the description of America on the poem. From the poems, the writer has found some descriptions of America. On the poem �America�. America is described as a cruel woman that has authority and more dominant, so she (America) freely did what she wish for. Meanwhile, on �The White City� America is depicted as a heaven in the white world�s hell. It means that America by its wonders and uncommon wealth look like a heaven, but the cruel behaviors of white America and their antipathies change it being like a hell. In addition, the title of poem �The White City� indicates a description of America where the word �white� is referred to white America, so the title indirectly indicates the description of city/America that just may be placed by white people or white America. The poems also signal a massage that the greatness of country does not take the enjoyment for its societies. TINJAUAN YURIDIS TANGGUNG JAWAB PT. POS INDONESIA TERHADAP PENGIRIMAN BARANG KONSUMEN
Full text linkThis study discusses the important role of PT. Pos Indonesia in the form of BUMN in supporting the smooth flow of goods delivery from one place to another. PT. Pos Indonesia mobilizes the flow of goods or money from one place to another to be easier, so that it accelerates the economy and makes it easier for people to ship goods that are not hampered by distance. However, in carrying out the activities of PT. Pos Indonesia does not rule out the possibility of negligence in carrying out its duties and obligations in accordance with the agreement so that it can harm the interests of consumers. Using normative legal research, with an invitation and conceptual approach, as well as qualitative descriptive analysis. The results of the study found that accountability for delays, losses and damage to consumer goods, caused by negligence of Post employees, will be compensated. However, not all losses can be sued by service users. Giving compensation for delays, damages, losses will be served if it is not due to force majeure, loss of shipping receipts, submissions exceeding the prescribed time limit, package contents do not match the receipt, and prohibited package of goods, there is no accountability Compensation will be given if it is proven that the Post committed negligence. The compensation is given in accordance with the applicable provisions. Legal remedies that can be carried out by consumers when harmed, through filing objections in three ways, namely through the branch Post office, Pos customer care, and through the official website of the Post. However, if consumers feel dissatisfied, they can make legal efforts to obtain compensation, namely through non-litigation and litigation channels. Non litigation includes the National Consumer Protection Agency (BPKN), the Consumer Dispute Resolution Agency (BPSK), LPKSM (Institute for the Protection of Non-Governmental Consumer Consumers). Pos Indonesia sebagai BUMN dalam menunjang kelancaran arus pengiriman barang dari satu tempat ke tempat yang lain. PT. Pos Indonesia memobilisasi arus barang ataupun uang dari satu tempat ke tempat lain menjadi lebih mudah, sehingga memperlancar perekenomian dan memudahkan masyarakat untuk mengirimkan barang yang tidak terhambat oleh jarak tempuh. Akan tetapi pada pelaksanaan kegiatan PT. Pos Indonesia tidak menutup kemungkinan lalai dalam melaksanakan tugas dan kewajibannya sesuai dengan perjanjian sehingga dapat merugikan kepentingan konsumen. Menggunakan penelitian hukum normatif, dengan pendekatan perUndang-Undangan dan Konseptual, serta analisis deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa pertanggunjawaban atas keterlambatan, kehilangan dan kerusakan terhadap barang konsumen, yang disebabkan oleh kelalaian pegawai Pos, akan diberikan ganti kerugian. Akan tetapi tidak semua kerugian bisa dituntut oleh pengguna jasa. Pemberian ganti rugi atas keterlambatan, kerusakan, kehilangan akan dilayani apabila bukan karena force majeure, hilangnya resi pengiriman, pengajuan melebihi batas waktu yang telah ditetapkan, isi paket tidak sesuai dengan resi, serta paket barang yang dilarang, maka tidak ada pertanggungjawaban. Ganti rugi akan diberikan apabila terbukti bahwa Pos melakukan kelalaian. Pemberian ganti rugi diberikan sesuai dengan ketentuan yang berlaku. Upaya hukum yang dapat dilakukan oleh konsumen ketika dirugikan, melalui pengajuan keberatan dengan tiga cara yaitu melalui kantor Pos cabang, customer care Pos, serta lewat situs resmi Pos. Namun apabila konsumen merasa kurang puas maka dapat melakukan upaya hukum untuk mendapatkan ganti rugi yaitu melalui jalur non litigasi dan litigasi. Non litigasi meliputi BPKN (Badan Perlindungan Konsumen Nasional), BPSK (Badan Penyelesaian Sengketa Konsumen), LPKSM (Lembaga Perlindungan Konsumen Swadaya Masyarakat).
