    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.     “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. The purpose of this research is to find out the role of the Branch Leaders of the Nahdlatul Ulama Student Association and the Nahdlatul Ulama Girls Student Association, Taman District Sidoarjo Regency in forming the character of nationalism in adolescents in Taman Subdistrict, Sidoarjo Regency and knowing what are the obstacles experienced by this study using descriptive qualitative methods with data sources from interviews with informants, the results of the study show that the Lead The leadership of the Nahdlatul Ulama Student Association Branch and the Nahdlatul Ulama Female Student Association, Taman Subdistrict, Sidoarjo Regency has a role in establishing the character of nationalism in Taman Subdistrict, which is carried out through various work programs, some of which are internal and external, including the loyalty period of members, training of young cadres and future members.     Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana masyarakat melakukan interaksi sosial di tengah adanya perbedaan agama yang ada di desa Gumeng. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori interaksi sosial Gillin dan Gillin. Dalam penelitian ini pendekatan yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif desain studi kasus. Informan dalam penelitian ditentukan dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik wawancara. Teknik analisis data diawali dengan melakukan reduksi data, kemudian penyajian data lalu ditarik kesimpulan. Keabsahan data menggunakan teknik triangulasi sumber data. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa interaksi masyarakat masih memiliki sikap toleransi antar umat beragama yang masih terjaga dengan baik. Masyarakat menjalankan kegiatan keagamaan sesuai dengan agama yang diyakininya. Kegiatan dalam hal kerja sama dan gotong royong dilakukan masyarakat secara bersama-sama, tanpa membedakan keyakinan yang dianut oleh individu lain. Dalam hal akomodasi, masyarakat selalu menghormati dan mengharagai satu sama lainnya, seperti dalam kegiatan hari raya keagamaan baik agama Islam, Hindu, Kristen dan Aliran Kepercayaan. Sedangkan dalam hal asimilasi masyarakat mampu menerima perbedaan agama yang ada di keluarga mereka, hasil dari pernikahan beda agama. Kata Kunci : Interaksi sosial, toleransi, agama Abstrack This research aims to find out how people do social interaction amid the existence of religious differences in the Gumeng village. In this research using social interaction theory from Gillin and Gillin. Informan in this research were determined using puposive sampling technique. Data collection is done by using  interview technique. Data analys technique begins with data reduction, then the presentation of data, and then drawn conclusions. The technique of data validity using source triangulasi technique. The results of this research indicate that the social interaction stil has a tolerance attitude among religious communities are still well preserved. The comunnity carries out religious activities in accordance with the religion it believes. Activities in terms of cooperation do it together, without distinguishing beliefs held by others. In terms of community accomodation always respect and appreciate each other, such as religious festivals in Islam, Hinduism, Christianity, and the flow of Faith. while in terms of assimilasion the community is able to accept the different religions that exist in their families, the result of diferrent religious marriages.     Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Abstrak Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mendiskripsikan wujud peran guru Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan dalam membentuk karakter toleransi antar umat beragama kepada siswa. Lembaga pendidikan sekolah yang di angkat dalam penelitian yaitu Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri 1 Jabon Sidoarjo. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif. pengambilan sampel  menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah Kepala Sekolah, Guru Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan serta peserta didik di Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri 1 Jabon Sidoarjo. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh adalah sebagai berikut : Wujud peran guru Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan dalam membentuk karakter toleransi antar umat beragama terhadap siswa dapat melalui aktivitas yang dilakukannya. Aktivitas yang dilakukannya sesuai dengan bentuk seperti saling mengerti antar umat beragama, saling menghargai kesetaraan dalam ajaran antar umat beragama, serta saling bekerja sama antar umat beragama. Tidak hanya itu saja guru Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan dalam penelitian ini juga telah melaksanakan tugasnya sebagai guru semestinya seperi memberikan ilmu pengetahuan maupun pengalaman yang telah terjadi, membentuk kepribadian peserta didik, sebagai perantara dalam pembelajaran, membimbing peserta didik, serta sebagai penghubung antara sekolah dan masyarakat. Kata Kunci : Lembaga pendidikan sekolah, karakter, toleransi antar umat beragama Abstract The purpose of this study is to describe the manifestation of the role of the Pancasila and Citizenship Education teacher in shaping the character of tolerance between religious communities to students. School educational institutions that were adopted in the study were 1 Jabon Sidoarjo State Middle School. This research uses a qualitative research approach. In selecting the sample data source researchers used a purposive sampling technique. Sampling of these data sources is the Principal, Pancasila and Citizenship Education Teachers as well as students in Jabon Sidoarjo 1 Middle School. The results obtained are as follows: The manifestation of the role of the Pancasila and Citizenship Education teacher in shaping the character of tolerance between religious communities towards students can be through the activities they do. Activities carried out in accordance with forms such as mutual understanding between religious communities, mutual respect for equality in teachings between religious communities, and mutual cooperation between religious communities. Not only that, the Pancasila and Citizenship Education teacher in this study also carried out their duties as a teacher, such as providing knowledge and experience that had taken place, forming the personality of students, as intermediaries in learning, guiding students, and as a liaison between schools and the community.     This study aims to determine the implementation of democracy in the Student Activity Unit of the Islamic Spiritual Activity Unit, State University of Surabaya. In this organization not only examines the religion of Islam but also applies the values ??of democracy applied in the Indonesian state. Democracy implies the meaning of power which is essentially the people who hold the highest mandate in democracy. The essence of democracy is of the people, by the people and for the people. Judging from the meaning of the word democracy, it is clear that the people play an important role. However, in practice it can be understood and implemented differently, even development is very uncontrolled. In the UKKI UNESA organization, it should be in line with the values ??that exist in democracy and the creation of freedom and deliberation to reach consensus. The research method used is qualitative. Data collection techniques used are interviews, observation, and documentation. Informants in this study were the general chairman, functionaries, and members. The conclusion of this study is that the implementation of democratic values ??in the organization of the Islamic Spiritual Activity Unit is in line with the principles of Pancasila democratic values ??which refers to Cipto's theory in journal (Aulawi, A., & Srinawati : 2019), although it is not perfect yet. The results of this study are expected to be useful and contribute to balancing thoughts on the application of democratic values ??and can add to the treasures of thoughts for writers and readers in general regarding democratic values.
