Calculating All That Jazz: Linking Technical Specifications to the Management of Digitization Projects
No full textThe purpose of this session is to educate librarians and archivists about the technical aspects of the digitization process and demonstrate how deeper understanding of those aspects can be used to evaluate the appropriateness of digitization standards, project scope, quality of digitization equipment and storage needs for digitization projects involving photographs and documents. Most scholarship on archival-quality digitization has focused on either elements of digital library project management or on technical specifications and how to digitize materials. "Calculating All That Jazz" focuses on presenting a formula for calculating digital storage space based on analog still images and documents, demonstrating how deeper understanding of the technical elements of digitization in the formula applies directly to crucial project management considerations
Figures Don't Lie: Spatial Humanities and Technology as Critical Thinking Tools
No full textThis presentation demonstrates the potential use of spatial humanities as both a critical thinking exercise and a computational tool in digital humanities pedagogy. “Figures Don’t Lie” presents a map of the United States that labels each state as a foreign nation according to the correlation between the GDPs of each state and their assigned countries. The map may spark classroom discussions about a range of humanities topics. Espousing Ezili: Images of a Lwa, Reflections of the Haitian Woman
No full textThis article examines the iconography of the two main female divinities in Haitian Vodou, Ezili Danto and Ezili Freda, using common chromolithographs of each personality. Images of the Ezilis are analyzed in the context of visual culture to discern how iconography informs viewers about the political position of Haitian women of the past and present. No full textLibrary professionals and library assistants who lack computer science or audiovisual training are often tasked with writing digital project proposals, grant applications or rationale to fund digitization projects for their institutions. Much has been written about digitization projects over the last two decades; digital storage has been highlighted as a central feature of any digitization project, especially the need to purchase additional storage mechanisms to house digitized collections. What is missing from the library science literature is a method for reliably calculating digital storage needs on the basis of parameters for digitizing analog materials such as documents, photographs, and sound recordings in older formats.Peer reviewe

Untuk itu diperlukan analisis yang tepat untuk mengetahui kekurangan dalam kinerja sistem Krista Mitra. Metode yang digunakan PIECES terdiri dari 6 aspek Performance, Information, Economic, Control, Efficiency dan Service. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa aspek Performance webserver ini cukup, aspek Information menunjukkan ketepatan, relevansi, akurasi, dan penyajian informasi juga sudah baik akan tetapi untuk akurasi masih perlu dikembangkan, sedangkan aspek Economic dinilai sudah baik, untuk Control masih ada masalah yang perlu dibenahi, untuk Efficiency dinilai cukup baik oleh pengguna dan Service dinilai cukup baik dengan layanan yang diberikan. Untuk aspek Control pada webserver sekolah Krista Mitra disarankan agar lebih ditingkatkan untuk menanggulangi hal hal yang tidak diinginkan dan mengurangi tingkat kejahatan

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Hubungan antara Tipe Kepribadian Introversi dengan Kecemasan Berbicara di Depan Umum pada Siswa Kelas XI SMA Krista Mitra Semarang. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI SMA Krista Mitra Semarang yang berjumlah 84 siswa dengan menggunakan teknik pengambilan sampel yaitu cluster sampling. Pengambilan data menggunakan skala kecemasan berbicara di depan umum dan skala tipe kepribadian introversi dari McCroskey (32 aitem valid dengan α = 0,96) sedangkan skala tipe kepribadian introversi (10 aitem valid dengan α = 0,822) yang telah diujicobakan pada 44 siswa kelas XI SMA Krista Mitra Semarang. Data yang diperoleh berdasarkan nilai analisis regresi sederhana menunjukkan nilai koefisien korelasi antara tipe kepribadian introversi dengan kecemasan berbicara di depan umum sebesar 0,313 dengan p=0,004 (p<0,05). Hasil tersebut menunjukkan hipotesis yang diajukan oleh peneliti, yaitu ada hubungan yang positif antara tipe kepribadian introversi dengan kecemasan berbicara di depan umum pada siswa kelas XI SMA Krista Mitra Semarang dapat diterima. Nilai koefisien korelasi positif, artinya semakin positif tipe kepribadian introversi maka semakin tinggi kecemasan berbicara di depan umum. Tipe kepribadian introversi memberikan sumbangan efektif sebesar 9,8% pada kecemasan berbicara di depan umum dan 90,2% dipengaruhi faktor lain yang tidak diteliti dalam penelitian ini.
