    [[abstract]]After Meal Teeth Cleaning Behavior and Its Influential Determinants Among Junior High School Students in Taoyuan A Master Thesis By Yan-Ling Chang Abstract The purpose of this study is to investigate after meal teeth cleaning behavior of the students, and to identify factors that may influence students' teeth cleaning behavior. By using a stratified random sampling method, nine classes 355 students were selected to participate in this survey. Data were collected by a self-administrated questionnaire in the school on January 2000. T-test, one –way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation and multiple regression were used to analyze the data. The main findings of the present study were as follows: 1.About 86% subjects reported doing teeth cleaning behavior right after meals, but not quiet often. 2.The subjects’oral hygiene knowledge was high. 3.The subject's oral hygiene attitude was good. Moreover, social support and outcome expectancy of teeth cleaning behavior were high. However, perceived barriers and self- efficacy of after meal teeth cleaning behavior were low. 4.Parent's behavior of teeth-cleaning after meals were better than parent's supervisory behavior of teeth-cleaning after meals; and mother's behavior were better than father's. 5.The subject's teeth cleaning behavior after meals is associated with their perception of own oral health status, socioeconomic status, oral hygiene attitude, parent's teeth- cleaning behavior, parent's supervisory behavior, social support, outcome expectancy, and perceived barriers. 6.The demographic characteristics, psychosocial variables and family factors explained 32.8 % total variance of teeth cleaning behavior after meals. Oral hygiene attitude, self- efficacy, parent's teeth-cleaning behavior, parent's supervisory behavior were significant predictors of the teeth cleaning behavior after meals.     Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Unit roots and structural breaks: new knowledge for the ASEAN macroeconomic time series model / Tan Yan Ling … [et al.]

    The purpose of this study is to carry out a comprehensive examination of the univariate statistical properties in ASEAN macroeconomic time series from 1960 to 2010 using a battery of endogenous break ADF-type unit root tests. Our empirical findings show that number of rejections of a unit root null is relatively higher when considering structural breaks than without breaks in the models. Most index and rate variables can be treated as trend-stationary processes in Indonesia and Malaysia particularly. However, macroeconomic time series under US Dollar and Local currency terms have an opposite findings. As in ZA models, the US Dollar terms denomination series are more favorable of trendstationary processes. Alternatively, the series under Local Currency terms tend to reject the null hypothesis of a unit root for all ASEAN countries except Thailand in LP models. Hence, the shocks to macroeconomic time series are temporary, these series will return to their long run trend rate of growth. Moreover, the break points are closely associated with global economic events such as the first oil shock of 1973-1975, the second oil shock in 1979-1980, the commodity crisis in 1985-1986 and the Asian financial crisis of 1997-1998. To this extent, if the shocks to series are transitory, then the macroeconomic stabilization policies may not be over-implemented in ASEAN countries particularly for index and rate variables in Indonesia and Malaysia. The policy authorities may use the historical information to forecast future movements in macroeconomic time series. Lastly, our findings also shed light on the importance of considering exchange rate fluctuations in the process of trendstationary and random walk processes
