    A novel tunable frequency dipole-yagi antenna for wireless body area network (WBAN) applications

    A novel Dipole-Yagi antenna is presented with frequency reconfigurable capability. The novel structure is based from Yagi-Uda antenna, consist of dipole as a main radiator and four parasitic metal strips. The parasitic metal strips can be formed to function as part of the radiator, reflector or director by means of switches. The switches are located at specific position. Four switched band at 0.98, 1.5, 2.1 and 2.5 GHz are demonstrated. Measured and simulated results are presented. Good agreement is observed

    In this work, a broadband quasi-Yagi antenna is presented and its shape design is changed to analyse new characteristics and properties for wireless communications. This microstrip-fed antenna is designed in five different shape versions: dipole driver, patch driver, meander driver, log-periodic director array, and multi-director array. Details of the proposed designs and measured results of input return loss and radiation pattern are presented and discussed.     — Antena merupakan perangkat yang memiliki peranan yang sangat penting dalam sistem komunikasi tanpa kabel (wireless). Secara umum fungsi antena adalah sebagai pengubah gelombang yang dilewatkan pada saluran transmisi menjadi gelombang ruang bebas dan sebaliknya. Penelitian ini akan dibuat antena penguat sinyal modem dengan modifikasi antena televisi jenis Yagi yang beroperasi pada frekuensi 800 Mhz. Proses modifikasi dibantu dengan software Yagi calculator. Perubahan terjadi pada bagian driven dari model, ukuran sampai bahan yang digunakan dan bagian relektor. Dari hasil pengujian antena Yagi setelah dimodifikasi dapat disimpulkan antena Yagi dapat digunakan pada modem dan televisi dengan perhitungan menggunakan software Yagi calculator dan disimulasikan menggunakan MMANA-GAL.     - Antena merupakan alat pemancar yang akrab dengan aktifitas sehari-hari dan mudah sekali dijumpai, di rumah, di gedung, bahkan pada alat komunikasi yang digunakan. Salah satu antena yang sering digunakan adalah antena televisi. Antena televisi yang sering digunakan adalah Yagi-Uda yang biasanya dipakai sebagai outdoor antena dan antena dipole yang biasanya digunakan untuk indoor antena. Masing – masing jenis antena memiliki kriteria dan keuntungan berdasarkan dari kebutuhan penggunaannya. Baik antena dipole maupun antena Yagi-Uda memiliki perbedaan diantaranya adalah besar bandwidth, nilai gain, dan pola radiasi. Pada paper ini dapat diketahui bahwa bandwidth yang dimiliki antena yagi-uda lebih besar daripada antena dipole yakni 0.39943 MHz untuk antena yagi-uda dan 0.16569 MHz untuk antena dipole. Begitupula dengan besar Gain yang dimiliki antena Yagi-Uda (6.64 dBi) lebih besar dibandingkan dengan gain dari antena dipole (2.29 dBi).
