Drugim aspektem poruszanym w pracy były badania dotyczące możliwości zastosowania nowych soli z grupami nitrowymi jako prekursorów karbenowych ligandów NHC w rutenowych katalizatorach metatezy olefin. Otrzymane w wyniku prowadzonych eksperymentów kompleksy były aktywne w reakcjach metatezy, a także trwałe podczas przechowywania i wobec wilgoci. Dodatkowo zoptymalizowana została geometria cząsteczek obu kompleksów za pomocą obliczeń metodą DFT. Prowadzone badania dotyczyły zastosowania soli z podstawnikiem steroidowym w badaniach biologicznych. The aim of the presented dissertation was the synthesis of imidazolinium salts with nitro groups. The second aspect of the study was research on the use of new substances in olefin metathesis catalysts. Obtained catalysts were active, stable during experiments, as well as during storage and against moisture. In addition, the molecules of new complexes were optimized by DFT calculations. The research involved the use of a base with a steroid substitute in biological research. On the basis of the experiments conducted, antibacterial and antifungal properties of new salts have been demonstrated, comparable with commercially used antibiotics. Obtained results obtain the possibility of conducting tests, including for the purpose of bactericidal and antifungal control and in plant protection products.Wyniki opisane w pracy zostały częściowo finansowane ze środków NCN przyznanych na realizacje projektów badawczych: „Nowe katalizatory metatezy olefin zawierające grupę nitrową w ligandzie N-hetero-cyklicznym” grant Preludium, czas realizacji: 2016 – 2019, UMO-2015/17/N/ST5/03916, kierownik projektu – Marta Malinowska; „Synteza alkaloidów Solanum i ich analogów ze steroidowych sapogenin” grant Opus, czas realizacji: 2016 – 2019, UMO-2015/17/B/ST5/02892, kierownik projektu - prof. dr hab. Understanding Reform: The Case of Poland

    No full text
This report reviews the reform process in Poland in the period 1989-2001, from the formation of the first non-Communist government to the defeat of right-wing forces in the 2001 parliamentary elections and the formation of a governing left-wing coalition of social democrats and the peasants’ party (both of them with roots in the Communist era). It reconstructs the sequence of reforms, assesses their relative successes, and focuses on the problem of the stagnation of the reform process at the end of the 1990s.Poland, reform, transition

Abstract On April 18, 2007 an international meeting on Pathophysiology of Ageing, Longevity and Age-Related Diseases was held in Palermo, Italy. Several interesting topics on Cancer, Immunosenescence, Age-related inflammatory diseases and longevity were discussed. In this report we summarize the most important issues. However, ageing must be considered an unavoidable end point of the life history of each individual, nevertheless the increasing knowledge on ageing mechanisms, allows envisaging many different strategies to cope with, and delay it. So, a better understanding of pathophysiology of ageing and age-related disease is essential for giving everybody a reasonable chance for living a long and enjoyable final part of the life.</p

Between sacrum and simulacrum: the space of chaos in Jacek Dukaj’s novella The Cathedral

The author of the article analyses Jacek Dukaj’s science fiction novella The Cathedral (2000), which inspired the famous animated short film released under the same title in 2002. The eponymous pseudo-building was founded on the grave of Izmir Predú, a man who has sacrificed himself to save his travel companions’ lives. It is built using programmed nanoparticles and has formed itself – chaotically – into a cathedral-like asymmetrical, fractal structure. The novella’s main character, a Catholic priest, has been sent onto a planetoid to validate rumours about Predú’s holiness. The author of the article argues that the process of incarnating the protagonist into the Cathedral’s body leads him to the point of holistic transformation of the body, psyche and knowledge, similar to technological singularity, which is indistinguishable from a mystical, religious act. It is limited to earthly life, though, and brings the risk (as a transhuman act) of losing humanity. Jacek Dukaj offers the reader a few clues, but they are inconclusive. The reader’s interpretative hesitance therefore mirrors the protagonist’s ambiguous transformation. There is no reason to name the novella a religious one, although transhuman messianism plays an important role in it

The and also contains the energies of a 3-body bound 'halo' state, obtained using the SVD (single variable discretization) method and diagonalizing the K-matrix to obtain the phase change of the total 3-body wavefunction w.r.t. the energy. The energies were calculated for a range of atom-ion scattering lengths.5) W_AI & W_NoAI - exemplary adiabatic potentials obtained by calculating the non-adiabatic P,Q matrices directly, without using the SVD method.II) TBP_BBBThe directory contains calculations of Efimov spectra for a system of three identical bosons interacting via the van-der-Waals potential (~1/r^6) modeled via the Lennard-Jones potential: -16/r^6*(1-lambda^6/r^6), where r is the interatomic distance, and lambda is the postion of the L-J zero. All values are calculated in van-der-Waals units (length - [rvdW], mass - 1, energy - [EvdW]). This also implicates the mathematical form of the two-body potential function. The interaction model consists of two two-body channels (open and closed) with a gaussian coupling:alphaS*exp(-(r-beta)^2/2/gamma^2). Channels are separated by a threshold value of du*B, where du = 0.008 [EvdW/G] and calcultions are performed at resonance values of the magnetic field (which differ depending on the shape of coupling).1) Directories aBg'a'_P'n'_v'b'_U contain the adiabatic three-body potentials U(R),where'a' - 2-body background scattering length in [rvdW]'n' - number of s-wave bound states of the two-body open-channel'b' - the vibrational quantum number + 1 of the closed-channel bound stateFile names are as follows:Bfield='B0'_alpha'aa'_gamma'g'_betaP1min_fort.100.dat'B0' - the on-resonance value of teh magnetic field [G]'aa' - coupling strength in [EvdW]'g' - coupling width in [rvdW]name 'P1min' indicates the coupling is centered at the minimum of the closed channel. The structure of files is as follows:R | U(R)_1 | ... | U(R)_f ,where R is the hyperradius in atomic units, U(R)_i is the i-th channelThe lambda values for the - open channels in [rvdW] units:P1* - 0.602806782761612P2* - 0.465470137047458 P3* - 0.392804382811181 P4* - 0.346119015107560- closed channels [rvdW]:P1_v1 - 0.450P2_v1 - 0.397 P3_v1 - 0.350P3_v2 - 0.294P4_v1 - 0.300P4_v2 - 0.270P4_v3 - 0.2502) Directories TimeDelay_aBg'a'-P'n'_v'b' contain the functions of the phase of the total three-body wavefunction (sum of eigenvalues of the K-matrix) ver. energy, which allows to calculate the energies and widths of the trimer states (taking the first derivative w.r.t. energy). The directory name can contain the information about the initial and final values of the energy (Ein, Efin) in [EvdW] units. The file name convention is analogous to p. '1)'. Hitting times of Brownian motion and the Matsumoto–Yor property on trees

    No full text
AbstractThe Matsumoto–Yor property in the bivariate case was originally defined through properties of functionals of the geometric Brownian motion. A multivariate version of this property was described in the language of directed trees and outside of the framework of stochastic processes in Massam and Wesołowski [H. Massam, J. Wesołowski, The Matsumoto–Yor property on trees, Bernoulli 10 (2004) 685–700]. Here we propose its interpretation through properties of hitting times of Brownian motion, extending the interpretation given in the bivariate case in Matsumoto and Yor [H. Matsumoto, M. Yor, Interpretation via Brownian motion of some independence properties between GIG and gamma variables, Statist. Probab. Lett. 61 (2003) 253–259]
