No full textKsiążka "Twarz i ciało książki. Wizualne manifestacje tekstów a problemy interpretacji" opisuje paratekstową sferę polskiej prozy współczesnej. W pierwszej, teoretycznej części książki, autorka zajmuje się problemem postrzegania literatury jako dzieła sztuki reprezentowanego przez dowolną liczbę materialnych realizacji. Drugą część zajmuje analiza przedstawień umieszczonych na frontowej stronie okładki. Trzecią - blurby, czyli notki reklamowe, krótkie formy tekstowe umieszczane w różnych miejscach okładki oraz obrazy autora pojawiające się z tyłu tomu i na skrzydełkach. Czwartą część stanowią interpretacje wewnętrznych komponentów książki: wkładek, szaty graficznej, ilustracji. Pracę zamyka teoretyczne podsumowanie, w którym autorka określa dwa typy orientacji przyjmowanych względem dzieła literackiego przez twórców wizualnych manifestacji.The book entitled "The face and body of the book. The visual manifestations of texts and the problem of interpretation" is a text which describes codex as an antropomimethical object. The author examines properties of concrete editions of Polish prose published after 1989 using the terminology proposed by Gérard Genette. According to the Genette's terminology, the author of the paper defines visual manifestation as a concrete edition of a literary work, which on the one hand includes constitutive properties for this kind of art and on the other hand includes relative (contingent) properties specific for the concrete book edition. The paper not only analyzes the covers, blurbs and illustrations, but also the texts, the literary works published in Poland after 1989. The analysis of the contingent properties, such as blurbs, biographical notes, images printed on the covers, shows that visual manifestation has an significant influence on the interpretation of the literary work. The paper is divided into four main parts. The first part describes the concept of the manifestation in the context of interpretation and defines the field of research, the second interprets the elements situated on the front of the book, the third analyses objects situated on the back of the book, the forth describes illustrations and the typographical image of the text. The author of the paper concludes that the codex form of the book (the book block and the cover) directs the interpretation, so we can talk about the different images of each literary work. That leads us to the chapter in which the author concludes conducted research listing two main kinds of visual manifestations: synthetic and multiple manifestations

No full textArtykuł omawia funkcje oraz definiuje pojęcie blurbu - krótkiego tekstu o charakterze informacyjno-reklamowym, który wydawca umieszcza na okładce książki. W pierwszej części autorka omawia etymologię oraz historię terminu stworzonego przez Geletta Burgessa. Kolejną część zajmuje analiza trzech najciekawszych, jej zdaniem, współczesnych blurbów. Analityczną partię tekstu otwiera zatem omówienie blurbów umieszczonych na okładce powieści Doroty Masłowskiej "Paw królowej" oraz krótkich form literackich znajdujących się na okładce powieści "Kochanie, zabiłam nasze koty". Ostatnim analizowanym przypadkiem jest szereg blurbów-wklejek, które widnieją na serii "skandynawskich kryminałów ("Enklawa", "Połów", "Prom") napisanych przez Remigiusza Mroza. Wystąpienie zamykają wnioski na temat pytania postawionego w tytule artykułu. Autorka zastanawia się nad mocą performatywną tych krótkich form literackich. Na ile przejawiają one dążność do odsłaniania, na ile zaś do zamazywania znaczeń zawartych w tekstach literackich, których dotyczą. Czy zaliczyć je należy do rodzaju syntetycznych interpretacji, streszczeń, czy też do tekstów-zagadek, kalamburów zachęcających do przeczytania powieści?The article discusses the functions and defines the blurb - a short informational and advertising text, which the publisher places on the cover of the book. In the first part, the author lists the etymology and history of the term created by Gelett Burgess. The next part contains analysis of three most interesting, in her opinion, contemporary blurbs. The analytical part of the text opens the study about blurbs placed on the cover of the Dorota Masłowska's novel "Paw królowej". This part contains also the study about blurbs placed on the Masłowska's last novel titled "Kochanie, zabiłam nasze koty". In the last part the author analyses the blurbs which appeared on the series of Scandinavian crime novels ("Enklawa","Połów","Prom") written by Remigiusz Mróz. The article closes the conclusions about the question raised in the title of the article. The author reflects on the performative power of these short literary forms. To what extent they show the tendency to reveal, and how much to blur the meanings contained in the literary texts to which they relate. Do they belong to a kind of synthetic interpretations, abstracts, or rather to puzzles, quirks encouraging to read the novel

Współczesny „obraz tekstowy” i „obraz tekstu”. Znaczenie oraz funkcje okładki
No full textOver the last two decades, we have seen an increase in interest in both the subject of design and the properties of the front cover. This is partly due to a change in the form of critical texts published in the mass media, and partly due to the activities of some publishing houses, which have begun to thematise the process of book design. The purpose of this article is to propose a redefinition of this particular aspect of the cover. The author considers the importance of the cover in cultural context and the functions it performs. The study aims to isolate the persuasive properties of the paratextual sphere which, although usually overlooked in the process of literary interpretation as supplementary properties, have long been an important component of axiological interpretation within the genres of review, essay and critical column. At the same time, the advertising function of the cover, although taken into account in this view, does not seem to be a priority role in the case of covers of literary works. Much more often, the cover’s representation of a literary text takes the form of a parody of an advertisement to mock, undermine, discredit the genre. For this reason, the euphoric values evoked by ordinary advertisements here take on a subversive shape, so that one can speak of their dysphoric character. Within the framework of the analyses of contemporary covers collected in this article, the author makes use of the findings and terminology created by Gérard Genette and Jacques Derrida relating to the description and specification of the paratextual sphere, as well as the interpretations of images by Roland Barthes.Na przestrzeni ostatnich dwóch dekad możemy obserwować wzrost zainteresowania zarówno tematyką projektowania, jak i własnościami frontalnej części oprawy. Jest to spowodowane m.in. zmianą formy tekstów krytycznych publikowanych w środkach masowego przekazu oraz działalnością niektórych wydawnictw, które zaczęły tematyzować proces projektowania książek w ramach publikowanych serii, a także omawiać go w trakcie kampanii promocyjnych. Prezentowany artykuł stanowi przede wszystkim próbę wyodrębnienia perswazyjnych własności sfery paratekstowej (teksty i obrazy umieszczone w zwierciadle oprawy), które choć zwykle bywają pomijane w procesie literaturoznawczej interpretacji jako właściwości suplementarne, to od dawna stanowią – w obrębie gatunku recenzji, eseju i felietonu krytycznego – ważny składnik interpretacji aksjologicznej. Autorka odróżnia również tę sferę książki od tradycyjnej reklamy. Przy czym funkcja reklamowa okładki, chociaż jest w tym ujęciu uwzględniana, w przypadku okładek utworów literackich nie wydaje się funkcją priorytetową. Znacznie częściej okładkowe przedstawienie tekstu literackiego przyjmuje formę parodii reklamy, by zadrwić, podważyć, zdyskredytować ten gatunek. Z tej przyczyny wartości euforyczne ewokowane przez zwyczajne reklamy przybierają tutaj postać pokraczną, zdeformowaną, tak że można mówić o ich dysforycznym charakterze. Analizując współczesne okładki, autorka wykorzystuje ustalenia i terminologię stworzoną przez Gérarda Genette’a i Jacques’a Derridę odnoszącą się do opisu i specyfikacji sfery paratekstowej, a także interpretacje obrazów autorstwa Rolanda Barthes’a

No full textEn retraçant la vie du juriste italien Matteo Gribaldi Mofa, exilé à Genève pour des raisons religieuses, l’auteur entend montrer combien les motifs politiques, scientifiques et religieux s’entremêlaient dans la vie intellectuelle de la nombreuse colonie européenne d’exilés italiens à la fin du XVIe siècle. Le message de Gribaldi Mofa, suivant lequel personne ne devait être condamné pour ses idées et opinions en matière religieuse, fut repris par des personnalités telles que Jean Bodin qui s’en servirent pour défendre l’idéal de la liberté de conscience.Ripercorrendo la vita del giurista italiano Matteo Gribaldi Mofa, esiliato a Ginevra per motivi religiosi, l’autore intende mostrare quanto gli aspetti politici, scientifici e religiosi siano intrecciati nella vita intellettuale della folta colonia europea di fuorusciti italiani alla fine del XVI secolo. A CRITICAL REVIEW OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL UNCERTAINTY LITERATURE SINCE 1987
No full textEnvironmental uncertainty has been a central construct of organizational theorists and strategic management researchers for many decades. The number of empirical studies using the uncertainty construct also continues to be significant. However, the confusion surrounding the conceptualization and measurement of the uncertainty construct remains a subject of scholarly debate. Through our comprehensive review of 77 empirical studies over the last 20 years and related theoretical and methodological work, we intend to (1) review the conceptualization trends and persisting issues that are apparent in uncertainty research, (2) review empirical issues particularly important to uncertainty work and illustrate how researches have or have not overcome some of these challenges, and (3) suggest directions for future research using the uncertainty construct.
