A Cosmopolitan History of Archaeology: The Olov Janse Case
The life of international archaeologist Olov
Janse (1892–1985) demonstrates the complexity of personal identify formation. Janse
worked in Europe, Scandinavia, South East Asia and North America, spoke many different
languages, controlled many collections of artefacts, changed identity or character at
least five times, and nationality, three times. It is hoped the themes, elucidated
through Janse’s story, will encourage comparisons with, and analyses of, the careers of
other cosmopolitan archaeologists, and instigate an international history of archaeology
focused on mobility, translation and networks, rather than one based on the impact of
archaeology on the development of nation-states. A correction article relating to the abstract and author

Apolipoproteins A-I and B: biosynthesis, role in the development of atherosclerosis and targets for intervention against cardiovascular disease
Sven-Olof Olofsson, Olov Wiklund, Jan BorénSahlgrenska Center for Cardiovascular and Metabolic Research, the Wallenberg Laboratory University of GöteborgAbstract: Apolipoprotein (apo) AI and apoB are the major apolipoproteins of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and low-density lipoprotein (LDL), respectively. ApoB assembles the precursor of LDL, very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), in the liver. The assembly starts with the formation of a primordial particle, which is converted to VLDL2. The VLDL2 particle is then transferred to the Golgi apparatus and can either be secreted or converted to triglyceriderich VLDL1. We have reviewed this assembly process, the process involved in the storage of triglycerides in cytosolic lipid droplets, and the relationship between these two processes. We also briefly discuss the formation of HDL. ApoB mediates the interaction between LDL and the arterial wall. Two regions in apoB are involved in this binding. This interaction and its role in the development of atherosclerosis are reviewed. ApoB can be used to measure the number of LDL or VLDL particles present in plasma, as there is one molecule of apoB on each particle. By contrast, the amount of cholesterol and other lipids on each particle varies under different conditions. We address the possibility of using apoAI and apoB levels to estimate the risk of development of cardiovascular diseases and to monitor intervention to treat these diseases. Keywords: Apolipoprotein AI, atherosclerosis, cardiovascular diseas
Berättande historiebruk -En fallstudie av Per Olov Enquists Legionärerna
This bachelor thesis in history consists of a case study of Per Olov Enquist’s documentary novel Legionärerna, which examines the Swedish extradition of Baltic soldiers after the Second World War. The intent of the study is to survey the novel’s use of history from a literary dimension. It does so by applying the typology of Hayden White, his poetics of history. This conceptual framework historicizes the historical writing by clarifying how the historical dictum is constructed in similar manner as fiction, and therefore dependent of its’ author. The result shows that Enquist uses the history – is constructing it – to object how one earlier has talked about the extradition by satire previous accounts and by reasoning contextual how one, instead, should understand the same historical phenomenon. These two aspects are linked to a third, viz, Enquist’s Maoist political stance
Error and Intellectualistic Anthropology in Per Olov Enquist’s Legionärerna (1968) [Elektronisk resurs]
The notion of error plays an important role, this article argues, in Per Olov Enquist’s ground-breaking documentary novel Legionärerna (The Legionnaires) (1968), which depicts the controversial Swedish extradition of Baltic soldiers in January 1946. In terms of the plot (re)constructed by Enquist, Swedish politicians and Baltic soldiers as well as the novel’s investigator, a kind of alter ego of the author, constantly make errors in their decisions and actions. And by letting characters, investigator and narrator refer to the course of events as a tragedy, Enquist connects the phenomenon of error that permeates his novel with the concept of hamartia in the classical drama. In correspondence with the ancient Greek view that the error of the tragic hero is caused by a lack of knowledge, Enquist’s novel understands the errors of its characters and its investigator as resulting from ignorance and incorrect reasoning, and thus, the article concludes, embraces a premodern intellectualistic anthropology

Elderly benefit from lower LDL-cholesterol
In two recent publications LDL-cholesterol and cardiovascular risk in the elderly was studied. A study from Copenhagen shows that LDL-cholesterol is similar as a risk-factor for myocardial infarction in all age-groups. Due to the higher incidence of myocardial infarction with age, the number of events associated with an increased LDL is higher among the elderly. The effect of LDL reduction in the elderly was studied in a meta-analysis including statin studies as well as studies with ezetimibe and PCSK9 inhibitors. The relative risk reduction associated with a reduction of 1 mmol/l of LDL-cholesterol was 26%, similar for patients above or below 75 years of age. These studies emphasize that reduction of LDL should be considered also in the elderly without many comorbidities
