Chinese Vaccine Diplomacy in the Eastern Mediterranean: Continuities and Rupture in Beijing’s Soft Power Prospects
© The Author(s) 2023.This article examines China’s vaccine drive in Eastern Mediterranean countries of Türkiye, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, and the Palestinian territories during 2020–2021 from a soft power angle. 1 Although Chinese COVID-19 era health diplomacy is presented as a major breakthrough in the West, this study argues that continuities are more visible in the Eastern Mediterranean context with regard to China’s discourse and diplomatic practices. Beijing invested in the existing notions of propaganda, such as solidarity with developing countries, anti-Americanism, and economic partnership. In assessing the impact of Chinese vaccine diplomacy in the Eastern Mediterranean, the study investigates major diplomatic events and concludes that China could not improve its image in Türkiye in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic
The Psychology of Morality
Five questions regarding the nature of the moral sense, the origin of conscience, the development of morality, variability in the moral sense, and the relation of morality to behavior are examined from the point of view of four theoretical approaches (psychoanalytic theory, social learning theory, cognitive-developmental theory, and evolutionary psychology). In addition, some concepts and findings from outside the four approaches are also touched upon. The moral sense is shown to be complex, comprising cognitions, feelings, and behaviors. The theoretical approaches disagree regarding the issues of whether conscience directly reflects social teaching, or is constructed by the developing individual. They also disagree on whether moral development is incremental or stagewise. Explanations of individual, gender, and cultural differences in morality differ across the four approaches. None of the approaches explains the relation of behavior to morality; rather, application of social psychological theories is suggested. More recent developments are briefly reviewed, supporting the view that the evolutionary approach and its extensions have become dominant in the field in recent years. Focus on social relations rather than individuals, emphasis on emotions rather than reason or action, pluralist views of the bases of morality, and functions of morality in group competition are highlighted as aspects of the newer approaches
Jet Production in the Very Forward Direction at 13 TeV with CMS
The new frontier collision energy ~TeV of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at the Run II has important key points in particle physics. Forward jets, abundantly produced in proton-proton () collisions, are useful tools to test Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) predictions at low values of parton momentum fraction . Measurement of the differential inclusive jet production cross section in the very forward direction is a powerful benchmark to study multiple partonic interactions (MPI) in collisons. The very forward jet measurement is performed with the CMS detector in a special early run at 13 TeV taken with T. The results are corrected to stable particle level and compared to several Monte Carlo (MC) model predictions

Kata kunci : Airmanship, Safety Culture danKeselamatan Penerbangan Abstract -- Flight Safety at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base has not been optimally anticipated because of the understanding of Airmanship and the awareness of the aviation Safety Authority of the aviator is still lacking so that efforts are needed to improve it in order to realize Flight Safety at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base. The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of Airmanship and Safety Culture on aviation safety. This research design using quantitative descriptive approach. The data used in this study comes from the primary data obtained on the basis of the distribution of questionnaires distributed to the research samples of Air Force personnel in the Air Force Base Halim Perdanakusuma as many as 62 people with multiple data regression analysis techniques. The result showed that partially Airmanship had positive and significant effect on Flight Safety by 39.5%. Partially Safety Culture has positive and significant effect on Flight Safety of 37.3%. Simultaneously it is found that there is a significant influence between Airmanship and Safety Culture on Aviation Safety at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base with a big influence of 50%. While the remaining 50% is explained by other causes beyond the model. Based on these results, the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base needs to provide an opportunity to all the Aviator personnel to join Suspa Lambangja, CRM courses and safety-related seminars, establish rules/SOP on risk calculations related to flight missions, provide rewards to crew that can cope with emergency conditions well and provide proportional punishment to crew who violate safety rules, optimize safety meeting activities, optimize flight training and training simulator training. Keywords: Airmanship, Safety Culture and Aviation Safety
Critics and Encounters in the Contemporary Social Structures
In an environment where debates on Eurocentrism have rapidly started to
increase and densify, it is possible to assert that Eurocentrism is constructed upon
dichotomies. In its essence, Eurocentrism is a discursive attitude that tends to
understand and explain non-European societies, as well as their histories and
cultures, from a European perspective. The term was first offered by Samir Amin
(2009) in his L’eurocentrisme: Critique d’une ideologie in 1988, but its implications
and roots go far back in time. In particular, criticisms that have been flamed with
Edward Said’s Orientalism (1978) created a strong ground in order to discuss
Eurocentrism. Further back in time and on the path leading up to Said’s criticisms,
the current political, economic, and social systems started to be questioned, which
were formulated in line with the perspective and needs of colonialism in the 19th
century in the process of decolonization and the establishment of nation states.
These questionings activated leftist or nationalist academics and third-worldist
intellectuals, including Amin, the author of Eurocentrism, against the universalist
positivist social theory that came back within the frameworks of modernization
theories in the 1950s. In this context, in a range of fields from economics to
history and from sociology to religious studies, alternative suggestions started
to gain shape against ways and methods of thinking which reflected European
hegemony. In our day, many studies conducted within the fields of post-colonial
studies and subaltern studies, Orientalism, and Eurocentrism have gained their
shapes through these traditions of criticism. Today it is possible to talk about an
emerging number of ways of comprehending these concepts in order to overcome
Eurocentrism. Europe has not been provincialized yet, Dipesh Chakrabarty (2000)
suggests, but the arrogant, self-interested and contemptuous evaluations have now
lost their vanity

Alfabenin Öyküsü
Otto F. Ege's Alfabenin Öyküsü (The Story of the Alphabet) is a concise yet comprehensive work examining the historical development of writing systems and alphabets. The book traces the transition from primitive picture writing (pictograms), born of humanity's need to communicate, to ideograms and phonograms. Following the evolution of the Babylonian, Egyptian, Phoenician, and Greek alphabets, the author explains how these systems influenced one another and evolved into the Roman alphabet. Ege presents the origins, morphological changes, and historical journey of each letter (f-) with detailed illustrations and explanations. For instance, he notes that the letter 'A' derives from "Aleph," meaning "ox" in Phoenician, and symbolises an inverted ox head. The work emphasises that the alphabet is not merely a tool for communication but a living structure carrying the cultural and historical heritage of civilisationsOtto F. Ege'nin Alfabenin Öyküsü (The Story of the Alphabet) adlı eseri, yazı sistemlerinin ve alfabelerin tarihsel gelişimini inceleyen kısa ama kapsamlı bir çalışmadır.
Phrasesand Names: Their Origins and Meanings
Trench H. Johnson's Phrases and Names, Their Origins and Meanings is an encyclopedic dictionary explaining the origins and meanings of common phrases, idioms, and proper names in the English language. The author states the book's purpose is to illuminate the historical and cultural context behind terms frequently used in daily conversation but whose origins are often unknown or misunderstood. Organized alphabetically, the book covers a wide range from mythological figures (like Zantippe) to geographical place names (such as Zanzibar, Zeeland, Zurich), and from religious terms (Zoroastrianism) to slang expressions (Zounds). Each entry provides concise information on when and how the word or phrase first appeared and the historical events or figures it is based on.
