Genus Arcofuzia Wei, Shih et Ren gen. nov. Type species: Arcofuzia cana Wei, Shih et Ren sp. nov. Differential diagnosis: Forewing extremely wide, Sc thick and without branches, with many small crossveinlike reticulations that are more distinct than in Fuzia; wing venation rich (43 to 54 veins at margin), more than average venation in Fuzia; intercalary veins thick, distinct all over wing surface; anal field with distinct diagonal kink; with distinctly cambered markings located near the apex of forewings from anterior of R to the anterior of CuA, forming a crescent. Etymology: Arcofuzia is a combination of arco- (Latin for cambered), referring to its cambered markings near the apex of forewings, and the type genus name ‘ Fuzia ’; gender feminine. Remarks: The new genus differs from Parvifuzia Guo & Ren, 2011 in having larger body size and rich forewing venation. The new genus can be distinguished from Fuzia Vršanský, Liang & Ren, 2009 by forewing markings, thick Sc, many small but very distinct crossvein-like reticulations, and diagonal kink in the anal field. The new genus is similar to Colorifuzia Wei, Liang & Ren (in press) in body size, rich forewing venation and forewing markings, but differs mainly by the shape of the markings, the anal field diagonal kink, presence of numerous small crossvein-like reticulations and thick, unbranched forewing Sc.Published as part of Wei, Dandan, Shih, Chungkun & Ren, Dong, 2012, Arcofuzia cana gen. et sp. n.

LL/SC and Atomic Copy: Constant Time, Space Efficient Implementations Using Only Pointer-Width CAS

When designing concurrent algorithms, Load-Link/Store-Conditional (LL/SC) is a very useful primitive since it avoids ABA problems. The full semantics of LL/SC are not supported in hardware by any modern architecture, so there has been a significant amount of work on simulations of LL/SC using CAS. However, all previous algorithms that are constant time either use unbounded sequence numbers (and thus base objects of unbounded size), or require Ω(MP) space to implement M LL/SC objects for P processes. We present the first constant time implementation of LL/SC from bounded-sized CAS objects using only constant space overhead per LL/SC variable. In particular, our implementation uses Θ(M+kP²) space, where k is the number of outstanding LL operations per process, and only requires pointer-width CAS operations. In most algorithms that use LL/SC, k is a small constant which reduces our additive space overhead to Θ(P²). Our algorithm can also be extended to implement L word LL/SC objects in Θ(L) time for LL and SC, O(1) time for VL, and Θ((M+kP²)L) space. To achieve these bounds, our main technical contribution is implementing a new primitive called Single-Writer Copy which takes a pointer to a word sized memory location and atomically copies its contents into another object. The restriction is that only one process is allowed to write/copy into the destination object at a time. The ability to read from one memory location and write to another atomically, and in constant-time, is very powerful and we believe this primitive will be useful in designing other algorithms

Calliparus gen. nov. Diagnosis: Body spindleform; prodorsal shield with frontal lobe, scapular tubercles on shield rear margin, scapular setae (sc) directed postero-laterally; coxae with a sternal line, coxisternum with 3 pairs of setae; legs: tibiae very small but distinct, all basiventral femoral setae (bv) and antaxial genual setae (l'') present, tarsal empodium entire; dorsum flat, with weak submedian ridges, dorsal annuli undulated; opisthosoma with all usual setae. Type species: Calliparus lanceolarus n. sp. Note: The new taxon is assigned to Eriophyoidea, Eriophyidae, Nothopodinae, Colopodacini. It is similar to Liparus Boczek, 1996 (in Boczek & Chandrapatya 1996), which is now the genus Thaicesa Kocak & Kemal, 2008. Liparus was a junior homonym of Liparus Olivier, 1807 (Coleoptera). Calliparus is differentiated from Thaicesa by the basiventral femoral setae (bv) present on both legs I and ІІ, the prodorsal shield with a frontal lobe, and the dorsal annuli undulated and smooth. In Thaicesa, the basiventral femoral setae (bv) are absent on both legs I and ІІ, the prodorsal shield is without a frontal lobe, and the dorsal annuli have three longitudinal ridges. Etymology: The genus name is a combination of Cal - and the former generic name Liparus Boczek, 1996 (now Thaicesa Kocak & Kemal 2008), to which the new genus is similar.Published as part of Li, De-Wei, Wang, Guo-Quan & Wei, Sui-Gai, 2010, A new genus and three new species of Nothopodinae (Acari: Eriophyidae) from Guangxi, China, pp. 44-50 in Zootaxa 2452 on page 45, DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.19523

Advances in Formation,Structure and Properties of SC-PLA by Blending PLLA with PDLA

    No full text
Stereocomplex polylactide (SC-PLA) can be formed by the packing of poly (L-lactide) and poly (D-lactide) chains side by side in a 3_1 helical conformation. Thanks to the dense packing and high physical interaction of the chains, the SC-PLA is featured by superior stability and melting point (ca. 50℃ higher than that of PLLA) as well as excellent thermal, mechanical and degradation properties. PLLA/PDLA blending is a common method for preparing SC-PLA, including solution blending, melt blending and microwave radiation blending and so on. During the forming process, the SC-PLA can be affected by the molecrlar weight, optical purity, mixing ratio of PLLA and PDLA and other factors. This review addresses the formation conditions and mechanisms, microstructures, properties and potential applications of the SC-PLA formed by blending PLLA with PDLA
