The Peculiar Political Logic of Max Weber
No full textThis thesis argues that Max Weber‟s peculiar political logic consists of three modes of thought: a civil philosophy of politics and nationalism; a reduction of politics to sovereign power; and a control of society‟s role in politics. To demonstrate these modes of thought, the thesis compares Weber with the civil philosopher Christian Thomasius and finds strong similarities in their respective uses of political and civil ethics. It compares Weber with the legal philosopher Carl Schmitt and argues that both thinkers based their politics on a sovereign power that is at once exceptional, extra-legal, extra-moral and extra-sociological. The thesis appeals to contemporary context by summarising and dividing the Weber scholarship into three categories. In doing so, it avoids the trend in secondary literature of conflating Weber‟s political logic with his social theory and sociological methodology, and instead argues that his political logic must be assessed in terms of its own merits as well as the ideas of other political thinkers. The thesis encourages more assessment of Weber‟s political logic along these lines by summarising Weber‟s various responses to the 'social question'. Ultimately, the thesis provides a new understanding of Weber‟s analysis of the social and its role in politics

Elenore Weber Interview
No full textElenore J. Weber was born on January 1, 1899. She was the widow of Ford R. Weber. Mrs. Weber was the past president of the Toledo YWCA and served on the board of the National YWCA for 20 years. She was an active member of the Ashland Avenue Baptist Church. She graduated from Denison University in 1920, and they honored her with an Alumnie Citation in 1952 for her community service, which included the Council of Social Agencies, the United Way, Board of Community Relations, Board of Mental Hygiene, Family Life Education Association, Frederick Douglass Community Association, and the League of Women Voters. She passed away at the age of 90 on March 30, 1990

Der Autor ist Professor Dr. phil. habil. Siegfried Weber, Prof. Emeritus der Technischen Universität Chemnitz, langjähriger Leiter des Wissenschaftsbereiches Deutsche Sprache
innerhalb der Sektion Fremdsprachen, Professor für Deutsch als Fremdsprache der Technischen Universität Chemnitz (bzw. Technischen Hochschule Karl-Marx-Stadt bis 1992).
Der Autor verstarb am 22. August 2018 im Alter von 90 Jahren in Halle (Saale).
In seinen letzten Lebensjahren arbeitete er mit großer Leidenschaft an diesem Studienbuch. Es ist die Essenz seiner jahrzehntelangen Berufserfahrung als Deutschlehrer für
Fremdsprachler. Leider war es ihm nicht vergönnt, die Veröffentlichung dieser Arbeit zu erleben. Seiner Familie ist es ein großes Anliegen, dieses Werk posthum der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich zu machen.
Siegfried Weber hinterließ ein 420seitiges Manuskript. Besonders hervorzuheben ist der Anteil, den seine Frau Gisela an diesem Werk hat. Sie redigierte, solange es ihre Gesundheit
zuließ, in mühevoller Arbeit mehr als die Hälfte des Manuskripts. Sie verstarb etwa ein Jahr nach ihrem Ehemann. In den Jahren 2019 bis 2021 vervollständigte und redigierte der Bruder des Autors, Dr. Rudolf Weber, das Manuskript soweit, dass es nun in Gänze digital vorliegt. Korrekturen und Verbesserungen konnten zwangsläufig nicht vorgenommen werden, so dass wir die Leserschaft bitten, etwaige Fehler und Mängel zu berücksichtigen und zu entschuldigen.
Dieses Studienbuch kann als Hilfe und Anleitung dienen für die fundierte und wissenschaftliche Herangehensweise bei der Vermittlung der deutschen Sprache in Berufen
und verschiedenen Fachgebieten durch Deutschlehrer in der Muttersprache, als auch in der Fremdsprache Deutsch.
Als Familie sind wir sehr zuversichtlich, dass das Werk seine Leser und Interessenten unter den Germanisten und Linguisten finden wird und auf diese Weise das Lebenswerk von Prof. Siegfried Weber vollendet wird.

The author passed away in Halle (Saale) on August 22, 2018, at the age of 90.\u2028 He spent the last years of his life working with great passion on this textbook. It is the essence
of decades of professional experience as a German teacher for foreign language learners.\u2028 Unfortunately, he died before finishing work on this book.\u2028
It is a great concern of his family to make this work available to the public posthumously.\u2028 Siegfried Weber left behind a 420-pages manuscript. Particularly noteworthy is the part his wife Gisela played in this work. As long as her health permitted, she laboriously edited more than half of the manuscript. She passed away about a year after her husband.\u2028
Between 2019 and 2021, the author's brother, Dr. Rudolf Weber, completed and edited the manuscript to the extent that it is now available digitally in its entirety. Inevitably, corrections and improvements could not be made, so we ask the readership to consider and excuse any errors and shortcomings.\u2028 This textbook can serve as an aid and guide to the sound and scholarly approach to teaching German in professions and various subject areas by teachers of German in the native language, as well as in German as a foreign language.\u2028
