The vote with the wallet game: Responsible consumerism as a multiplayer prisoner's dilemma
Socially responsible consumers and investors are increasingly using their consumption and saving choices as a 'vote with the wallet' to award companies that are at vanguard in reconciling the creation of economic value with social and environmental sustainability. In our paper, we model the vote with the wallet as a multiplayer prisoner's dilemma, outline equilibria and possible solutions to the related coordination failure problem in evolutionary games, apply our analysis to domains in which the vote with the wallet is empirically more relevant, and provide policy suggestions

E-wallet acceptance among undergraduates in Malaysia
The application of e-wallet technology through mobile devices is the recent digital technology trend for consumer market in malaysia. In addition, the government of malaysia has introduced an e-wallet based initiative under the malaysia budget 2020, namely “e- tunai rakyat” program with the ultimate aim for the nation to opt for digital payment. Studies done by prior researchers revealed that the success of a new technology concept, such as e-wallet is intensely dependent on the acceptance of user toward the new technology. Hence, this study aims to identify the important factors that influence the intention of using e-wallet among youngster in malaysia, with the focus on undergraduates from one of the the public university. In addition, the study also aim to explore the relationship between the important factors and intention to use e-wallet. Two categories of important factors were identified from literature review. Category 1 is designated as “preceived usefulness” and make up of three factors; which are social influence; perceived enjoyment and information & knowledge. While category 2 is classidied as “perceived ease of use” that consist of two factors, which are previous experience and facilitating condition. The research is quantitative based via questionnaire and responded by 64 undergraduates. Descriptive analysis result reveals that “preceived ease to use” is viewed by respondents as more important than “preceived usefulness” as factors that influencing respondents intention to use e-wallet. In addition, finding from pearson correlation test suggests that the adoption of e-wallet among undergraduate in malaysia is strongely correlated with factors that under category of “preceived ease to use”. The main implication of the study is there is, in oder to enhance the acceptance of e-wallet by the undergraduates or youngsters in malaysia, the government of malaysia, as well as the service providers of e-wallet need to continuously upgrade and expand the digital infrastructure across the whole nation
Towards NFC payments using a lightweight architecture for the Web of Things
The Web (and Internet) of Things has seen the rapid emergence of new protocols and standards, which provide for innovative models of interaction for applications. One such model fostered by the Web of Things (WoT) ecosystem is that of contactless interaction between devices. Near Field Communication (NFC) technology is one such enabler of contactless interactions. Contactless technology for the WoT requires all parties to agree one common definition and implementation and, in this paper, we propose a new lightweight architecture for the WoT, based on RESTful approaches. We show how the proposed architecture supports the concept of a mobile wallet, enabling users to make secure payments employing NFC technology with their mobile devices. In so doing, we argue that the vision of the WoT is brought a step closer to fruition
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Square Dancing with the Stars to Enhance Dynamic Hirschman Linkages?
In this Presidential Address, the author takes the reader on a reconnaissance of his life and time as a regional scientist. He points out scenery he found scintillating along the way, hoping that some may pick up the banner and chew on a few of the ideas for a while. He suggests a revisit to Albert O. Hirschman’s notion of key sectors and more empirical analysis related to Marcus Berliant’s and Masahisa Fujita’s notion of knowledge creation and transfer.Presidential Address, San Antonio, Texas, March 29, 2014 (53rd Meetings of the Southern Regional Science Association
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
