'Un novello stile d'orazion sacra'. La predicazione di Cornelio Musso (1511-1574)

    No full text
This research has been conducted especially by examining the preaching of Cornelio Musso, one of the genre's most representative voices, not yet adequately studied. The interest in the figure and work of Musso lies not only in the role this Franciscan preacher played in doctrinal and spiritual spheres during the time of the Council, but also in the rhetorical and stylistic novelty of his sermons, in their humanistic background, in the relationships he held with the contemporary literary and cultural scene, especially in Padua and Rome, and, finally, in the contribution that his collections of sermons gave to the evolution of Italian prose

[ENG] This paper focuses on Giovan Battista Andreini, an Italian author and actor from the 17th century; the aim of this study is to delve more deeply into Andreini’s ideas on literature and theatre, not only into his theoretic formulations but also into the way they are put into practice directly in his texts, especially in liminar areas such as dedications and prefaces. The experimental vein of his production has often proved noteworthy to the eyes of many critics; yet some of his less-known works can prove interesting to read in the light of his whole activity and production. Such works are Ismenia, a ‘third genre’-oriented play (1639), and the mock-heroic poem Olivastro in its different versions (two prints in 1606 and 1642; plus a newly-rediscovered manuscript)

«Io so ben che son quella /Che morì per tuo amore e or son viva».

On the basis of the lesson of Emanuele Tesauro’s «Cannocchiale aristotelico», his text of «Alcesti o sia l’amor sincero» a kind of summa of Tesauro’s theoretical, poetic, and laudatory production, is reread through its most significant metaphors, not only paying attention to the framework of the celebratory project for the Savoy court, but also with the aim of shedding light on the intention of both this very work and its author, set on asserting the ability of language to talk about being; that is, an ability which the important model of Euripides problematically calls into question. In dialogue with Euripides, the ingenious musicality of Tesauro’s poetry takes on the task of producing such a representation of becoming that, while leaving the viewers in amazement, pushes the knowledge of reality further beyond the phenomenal appearances

    No full text
This essay studies a play by Domenico Laffi (1636-?), La fedeltà anche doppo morte overo il regnare anche doppo morte: its author presents it as a «tragedy drawn from Portuguese», but it is actually the translation of Reinar después de morir by the Spanish playwright Luis Vélez de Guevara (1579-1644). Firstly, in this analysis special attention is paid to the relevance and to the various uses of ancient poetic works, that is romances, that can be found in Luis Vélez de Guevara’s text; the second part of the paper aims to explain how and why Laffi chooses not to translate those very parts of his Spanish model, which he replaces with fragments borrowed from late sixteenth- and seventeenth-century Italian works instead

This article appeared in a journal published by Elsevier. The attached copy is furnished to the author for internal non-commercial research and education use, including for instruction at the authors institution and sharing with colleagues. b s t r a c t An efficient one-dimensional model to investigate the high frequency performance of Graphene Base Transistor (GBT) has been developed and used to provide guidelines for the design and optimi zation of THz operation devices. The simulation results show that cut-off frequencies in the THz range are feasible over a quite broad range of the model parameters, assessing the promis ing potential of the intrisic GBT device. The model indicates that, for an opt imized GBT, the structure should exploit dielectric materials with not too large permittivity and small energy barrie rs with respect to the metal emitter

My thesis focuses on the narrative work of Maria Messina (Palermo 1887 - Pistoia 1944), a Sicilian author who belongs to category of forgotten writers. It deals with a critical interpretation of Maria Messina’s narrative work. In the first part, I propose a detailed biographical study of the author by examining, through a theoretical and textual perspective, her sharing the literary principles of the Verismo literary movement and by analyzing her epistolary correspondences. I then engage with a diachronical study of her whole narrative production by classifying and summarizing the content of her works. Finally, I consider the critical fortune of Maria Messina, that is, how her work was understood and interpreted by critical scholarship. In the second part of my thesis, I describe the different typologies of Messina’s characters and I study, by means of an in-depth textual analysis of her narrative, their representation in terms of victims within the “suffocating society” in which they live. In particular, I focus on Messina’s female characters, the representation of which documents the female condition at Messina’s time.In the third and last part of my work, I examine, by means of a textual analysis again, the way in which Messina gave voice to her characters, allowing them to become aware and denounce their condition of subalternity.

The Difficulties of Achieving Technology Transfer: Issues of Absorptive Capacity Author

    No full text
This article aims to elucidate theoretically the problematic dealing with the constraints of the success of technology transfer process to developing countries through synthesizing the main theoretical approaches. Numerous and important are barriers to implementation. They are dependent on several factors ranging from initial level of development of the receiving economy, the nature of the imported technology, the market structure, the state of competition. However, despite the size of these barriers to entry, it is obvious that the knowledge imparted should be properly absorbed by the receiving economy. This implies the ability of firms to learn and master imported technologies- which requires prerequisites in terms of human capital, basic skills, capital outlay required for the activity of R&D; as well aseconomic and social fundamentals of the host country for the proper handling of knowledge. This set of prerequisites identifies absorptive capacity which all developing countries wishing to optimize the transfer of technology should bring
