Normalization relating to other factors forming of the literary language
The authors — basing on statements from the XVI and the first half of the XVII century — advocate the role of normalization in the process of Polish literary language development. The confrontation of linguistic normalization with graphization in this process is left for separate study.
The author discusses the status of loanwords in cognate languages on the basis of Czech and Russian loanwords in Polish e.g. Polish zakąska ‘snack, starter’ from Russian zakuska ‘hors d’oeuvre’. Such borrowings are usually considered to be lexical (formal-semantic) loanwords, where foreign phonemes have been regularly replaced with the etymologically corresponding phonemes. The author provides evidence that in fact we deal here with the phenomenon of structural calques. The author discusses the status of loanwords in cognate languages on the basis of Czech and Russian loanwords in Polish e.g. Polish zakąska ‘snack, starter’ from Russian zakuska ‘hors d’oeuvre’. Linguistics – a humanistic discipline
The author of the article proves the existence of a strict connection between the broadly understood
humanities and the areas of linguistic research that refer back to the cultural, communication,
and in part also the structuralist paradigms. In order to substantiate his thesis,
the author provides examples of such connections, with particular emphasis on the character
and outcomes of research conducted by Krakow-based linguists
Again about the name Gniezno (an attempt at synthesis)
Taking a synthetic approach, the author of the paper presents the explanations of the etymology of the geographical name Gniezno, which is present in historical literature and linguistic works, and has been the object of interest since Middle Ages for chroniclers, and later for historiographers and linguists. Moreover, the author discusses the form of this toponym, explains the changes it underwent, and presents hypotheses concerning its motivation

Wojciech Ryszard Rzepka na tle poznańskiej tradycji językoznawstwa historycznego
The article is an attempt to establish the position of the scholarly achievements of Wojciech Ryszard Rzepka (almost exclusively in the field of the history of the Polish language) on the background of the scholarly activity of his predecessors. The author adopted the output of his teacher and scholarly master, Władysław Kuraszkiewicz, as the most important reference point. The author has examined more closely three currents in the research activity of Wojciech Rzepka: his lexical studies, his editorial and lexicographical output. Concluding the article, the author considered Rzepka most prominent historian of the Polish language in his generation – a researcher whose scholarly achievements are marked by originality and novelty as well as a harmonious combination of the dominating empiricism and understanding for the theory and methodology of historical linguistics
Women’s Polish Language – Historical Prolegomena (The Nineteenth Century and the Mid-Twentieth Century)
The author analyses memoirs of the nineteenth and mid-twentieth centuries. Three of them were written by women (Zamoyska, Lubomirska, and Nałkowska) and three were written by men (Łoś, Sczaniecki, and Piłsudski). The text seeks to verify the hypothesis expressed in the earlier works of the author (Women’s Polish Language – Historical Prolegomena, 1994), namely that the contribution of French borrowings was greater in women’s language. The memoirs under study confirm this hypothesis. They contain on the average four times more gallicisms (asides from French, rare and individual borrowings) than men’s memoirs of that period

Trzy refleksje o dwujęzyczności
Following a brief discussion on the understanding of the concept of bilingualism (and diglossia) the author shares with his audience the reflections on the role and significance of bi- and multilingualism in three areas: practical linguistic communication on the global scale, language education and linguistics (theoretical, comparative and descriptive, at the synchronic and diachronic level).
