Wspólne życie i etyka przyszłości w powieści JULI ZEH Unterleuten (2016)
According to JULI ZEH, German society has bid farewell to systems of identification that unite it as a collective. Her thriller novel Unterleuten (2016), in which the homonymous village fails to live together in conviviality raises crucial questions about the collective ethics for the future. The article explores the question of how this novel, even with this starting point of convivialist failure, confronts the reader with principles of ethics for the future as a wishful projection of spaces of coexistence for future generations.
\kur{Gaming Instinct} by Juli Zeh: Beyond the Values
The aim of this thesis is to deal with the motive of the decay of moral values in the novel \kur{Spieltrieb}/ \kur{Gaming Instinct} by the German author Juli Zeh. Its focus is to compare this work with the novels of the early 20th century Austrian writer, Robert Musil, namely \kur{Die Verwirrungen des Zöglings Törleß}/ \kur{The Confusions of Young Torless} and \kur{Der Mann ohne Eigenschaften}/ \kur{The Man Without Qualities}. The formal as well as ideological analogy between Zeh?s and Musil?s works is justified by Zeh?s study of literary writing at The German Creative Writing Program Leipzig

Echoes and Oscillations: Poetics, Public Intellectualism, and Contemporary Literature in the Work of Juli Zeh
Since the publication of her debut novel in 2001, German author Juli Zeh has established herself as an important figure within the landscape of contemporary German-language literature. Echoes and Oscillations: Poetics, Public Intellectualism, and Contemporary Literature in the Work of Juli Zeh examines the work of Juli Zeh with respect to how her poetological positions, her work as a public intellectual and the incorporation of modes of realistic writing in her narratives result in an interplay between diegetic and non-diegetic realities that, in turn, have an impact on the question of what role literature can play in the present cultural landscape of Germany and beyond. Through the analysis of Zeh’s poetological writings and her work as public intellectual, Echoes and Oscillations defines Zeh as a politically committed author who revives the long-standing model of author as public intellectual and transports it into the twenty-first century. The analysis of selected novels with respect to echoes of traditions of realistic writing from German literary history leads to a re-conceptualization of the term ‘contemporary German-language literature.’ Exemplified through Zeh’s texts, the dissertation proposes a model that regards contemporary literature as being embedded in, being mindful of, and commenting on their time via the tight interconnection between sociopolitical discourses and her fictional and nonfictional work
With novels of the writers Thomas Hettche, Marek Krajewski, Bernhard Schlink and Juli Zeh the meaning of politics, law, violence and sex within the frame of the actual literature is discussed. These subjects do not only play an important role in reality, they are also of highest importance in expression of social and individual problems poetically. Especially on the background of the interrelation of western and eastern Europe, it is possible to present higher ranked structures of literary meaning and construction.

In such ectothermic species, metabolic rate increases exponentially with ambient temperature, and a small temperature increase in a warm environment therefore has a much larger physiological impact than does a comparable temperature increase in a cool environment. In studies recently conducted by my faculty mentors and their students on the Neotropical pseudoscorpion, Cordylochernes scorpioides (Zeh et al. 2012, 2014), it was found that simulated climate warming significantly decreased survival, average values for morphological traits, and level of sexual dimorphism. However, these effects were minor compared to catastrophic consequences for male fertility and female fecundity, pointing to reproduction as the life history stage that is most vulnerable to climate warming. Still to be investigated was the potential for a genetically-based response to elevated temperature. In the study reported here, I took advantage of the coexistence of two sympatric but highly divergent mitochondrial haplogroups in this pseudoscorpion to evaluate the potential impact of mitochondrial sequence variation on fitness traits and response to climate change. For survivorship and sperm production, my results reveal a significant interaction between mitochondrial haplotype and temperature treatment, thus demonstrating genotypedependent effects and the potential for an adaptive evolutionary response to climate warming

Nichts Menschengemachtes- nichts, was man interpretieren muss. Lanzarote als Handlungsschauplatz in den Romanen Nullzeit und Neujahr von Juli Zeh
[eng] Novel writer Juli Zeh, born in Bonn in 1974, critically analyses contemporary
society and dissects the psychology and train of thought often associated to
our epoch. The author evaluates the German trend to travel in search of adventure,
although usually in a relatively safe setting. In the texts Nullzeit (2012) and Neujahr
(2018), Zeh chooses the Canary Island Lanzarote as the scene where events and experiences
of protagonists take place. The strange barren landscape of the island offers
itself as a background for adventurous experiences, which shift from the outer to the
inner landscapes. The search for adventure in the unknown and what can be behind
it are the subjects of study in these two novels
Analysis of the Main Characters in the Novel "Spieltrieb" by Juli Zeh
Undoubtedly, Juli Zeh is one of the most important and interesting current German female writers, who is gaining her reputation abroad as well. In her pieces, there are current issues and philosophical questions combined together and, therefore, she affects readers on several different levels. Novel ?Spieltrieb? isn´t different. The author introduces questions of freedom, guilt, will, violence and law in this novel ? and the individual characters throw light on the matters from different views. The objective of the diploma thesis is to present the way of these topics ?personalizing?, using a precise character analysis (analysis of the names, languages, private stories, corporalities and features of particular characters). The method which has been used for the analysis is close reading, based on a precise and combinatory reading. The analyses and reflections is supplemented an interview with the author
