W artykule ścieżki kariery politycznej oraz główne obszary aktywności partyjnej rozpatrzone zostały przez pryzmat oceny artykułowania preferencji politycznych oraz kreowania korpusu osiągnięć w polityce. Podstawą faktograficzną jest analiza aktywności w niemieckiej przestrzeni publicznej (głównie w Bundestagu) polityków z polskim tłem migracyjnym: Agnieszki Brugger (Sojusz 90/Zieloni) i Paula Ziemiaka (CDU). In the article career paths and the main ways of party activity are seen through the prism of evaluation of the articulation of political preferences and the creation of the political corps. The factual basis is the analysis of activity in German public space (mainly in the Bundestag) of politicians with a Polish migration background – Agnieszka Brugger (Alliance 90/The Greens) and Paul Ziemiak (CDU). The purpose of the article was to answer the question, how Brugger and Ziemiak, specialized in the area of international politics, are included in the identity of the represented political parties and formulate new propositions regarding the reaction to current and forecasted challenges and threats. The main points of their activities are given, including the ones related to prevention of the international crisis. In addition, the article aimed to assess whether the proposals of Brugger and Ziemiak fit in a classic image of the represented parties, or whether they influence beyond the typical framework and concern about influencing program transformation of the represented groups. The scale in which the politicians influence Polish-German relations was also evaluated

Normative Thoughts, Normative Feelings, Normative Actions: A Protestant, Relational Psychoanalytic Reply to E. Christian Brugger and the Faculty of IPS

The present article is a response to E. Christian Brugger's 2008 article, Anthropological Foundations of Clinical Psychology, published in the Journal of Psychology & Theology (Volume 36, Number 1). In the article, Brugger argued that all psychological theories contain implicit anthropologies complete with values and ethics. Brugger called on theoreticians to overtly explicate their philosophical and theological model. He then presented such a system from his own Catholic tradition and invited authors from other Christian traditions to constructively interact. The authors of this article dialogue with Brugger's model using Reformed and Wesleyan theology and Relational Psychoanalysis.</jats:p

Multiple Colonization with S. pneumoniae before and after Introduction of the Seven-Valent Conjugated Pneumococcal Polysaccharide Vaccine

No full text
Background: Simultaneous carriage of more than one strain of Streptococcus pneumoniae promotes horizontal gene transfer events and may lead to capsule switch and acquisition of antibiotic resistance. We studied the epidemiology of cocolonization with S. pneumoniae before and after introduction of the seven-valent conjugated pneumococcal vaccine(PCV7). Methodology: Nasopharyngeal swabs (n 1120) were collected from outpatients between 2004 and 2009 within an ongoing nationwide surveillance program. Cocolonization was detected directly from swabs by restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis. Serotypes were identified by agglutination, multiplex PCR and microarray. Principal Findings: Rate of multiple colonization remained stable up to three years after PCV7 introduction. Cocolonization was associated with serotypes of low carriage prevalence in the prevaccine era. Pneumococcal colonization density was higher in cocolonized samples and cocolonizing strains were present in a balanced ratio (median 1.38). Other characteristics of cocolonization were a higher frequency at young age, but no association with recurrent acute otitis media, recent antibiotic exposure, day care usage and PCV7 vaccination status. Conclusions: Pneumococcal cocolonization is dominated by serotypes of low carriage prevalence in the prevaccine era, which coexist in the nasopharynx. Emergence of such previously rare serotypes under vaccine selection pressure may promote cocolonization in the future
