    Nutritional Therapy in Liver Transplantation

    No full text
Correction published on 18 December 2018, see Nutrients 2018, 10(12), 2006.Protein-energy malnourishment is commonly encountered in patients with end-stage liver disease who undergo liver transplantation. Malnutrition may further increase morbidity, mortality and costs in the post-transplantation setting. The importance of carefully assessing the nutritional status during the work-up of patients who are candidates for liver replacement is widely recognized. The metabolic abnormalities induced by liver failure render the conventional assessment of nutritional status to be challenging. Preoperative loss of skeletal muscle mass, namely, sarcopenia, has a significant detrimental impact on post-transplant outcomes. It is essential to provide sufficient nutritional support during all phases of liver transplantation. Oral nutrition is preferred, but tube enteral nutrition may be required to provide the needed energy intake. Herein, the latest currently employed perioperative nutritional interventions in liver transplant recipients are thoroughly illustrated including synbiotics, micronutrients, branched-chain amino acid supplementation, immunonutrition formulas, fluid and electrolyte balance, the offering of nocturnal meals, dietary counselling, exercise and rehabilitation

Using honeypots to study skill level of attackers based on the exploited vulnerabilities in the network

    No full text
Malware in the form of computer viruses, worms, trojan horses, rootkits, and spyware acts as a major threat to the security of networks and creates significant security risks to the organizations. In order to protect the networked systems against these kinds of threats and try to find methods to stop at least some part of them, we must learn more about their behavior, and also methods and tactics of the attackers, which attack our networks. This thesis makes a practical analysis of observed attacks and exploited vulnerabilities using honeypots in an organization network. Based on this,we study the attackers' behavior and in particular the skill level of the attackers once they gain access to the honeypot systems. The first part of the work describes: i) the honeypot architecture as well as implementation details so that we can observe the attackers behavior and ii) proposed hybrid honeypot solution which will be used in the future work. The second part presents: i) the detailed analysis and classification of the attacks and vulnerabilities, which are used by the attackers and ii) the attackers' skill level based on the exploited vulnerabilities

One Nation, Two Leaders: Foreign Policies of Heydar Aliyev and Suleyman Demirel

    No full text
Heydar Aliyev and Suleyman Demirel were two outstanding leaders who molded the destiny of their countries during their tenures in power in which they enjoyed a harmonious relationship. Their common foreign policy vision, based on regional stability between the two leaders, in many ways laid the foundations for cooperation between Türkiye and Azerbaijan. In this study, four pillars that form the basis of this common vision are discussed: (1) economic integration and an energy strategy, (2) peace and stability through multilateral organizations, (3) peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and (4) treading a delicate balance between Russia and the West. © The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024

Sphincter-Saving Robotic Total Mesorectal Excision Provides Better Mesorectal Specimen and Good Oncological Local Control Compared with Laparoscopic Total Mesorectal Excision in Male Patients with Mid-Low Rectal Cancer

Introduction: Laparoscopic rectal resection with total mesorectal excision is a technically challenging procedure, and there are limitations in conventional laparoscopy. A surgical robotic system may help to overcome some of the limitations. The aim of our study was to compare long-term oncological outcomes of robotic and laparoscopic sphincter-saving total mesorectal excision in male patients with mid-low rectal cancer

AbstractIn this paper the method of solving Z-number valued multiobjective linear programming problem proposed in “R.A. Aliev, O.H. Huseynov, R.R. Aliyev, A.V. Alizadeh, The Arithmetic of Z-numbers. Theory and Applications. Singapore: World Scientific, 2015” is applied to solve a marketing mix problem. The method utilizes differential evolution optimization. The obtained results show validity and applicability of the proposed approach
