What shapes patient's satisfaction in countries' health care systems?
No full textPatient satisfaction is an important measure of health care quality as it offers information on the provider’s success at meeting clients’ expectations and is a key determinant of patients’ perspective behavioral intention. This paper studies the relationship between patient’s satisfaction of healthcare system and a set of socio-economic and health provision indicators. We first construct an index of patient’s satisfaction and then, at a second stage, this index is related to economic and health provision variables. Our empirical analysis relies on 31 countries and for four years. Our findings support a strong positive association between citizens’ satisfaction and public health expenditures, number of physicians and nurses, and the age of the patient, while there is a negative evidence for private health spending and number of hospital beds
What shapes eHealth literacy of an individual?
No full textThis paper studies the ability of an individual in searching, analyzing and processing information from the Internet in order to address or solve health related issues, the so-called eHealth literacy and the factors that shape it. Understanding what influences eHealth in a country is particularly relevant for health markets as it provides guidelines for health marketers to develop targeted and tailored communication materials for relevant consumer segments, and further could suggest appropriate strategies for training the health illiterate part of the population. Using a unique sample based on survey data of 1064 individuals in Greece for the year 2013, we find that among demographic factors, age and education strongly affect the eHealth literacy and physical exercise among the life-style variables. Finally, other types of technology literacies such as computer skills and information obtained from the Internet further enhance the eHealth performance of an individual and have the greatest impact among all factors

Through simulation and test implementation on a state-of-the-art programmable ADSL development platform, this thesis pursues a suitable solution for minimizing PAR given the resources of a programmable platform. ABSTRACT: The decision of the ECtHR of 31.08.2023, Amvrosios-Athanasios Lenis v. Greece (no. 47833/20), is a further step toward an increasingly dense jurisprudence on “hate speech” and the limits of freedom of expression. The public proclamation of religious doctrines that are in conflict with the values of the contracting States enshrined in the ECHR is protected to a certain extent by the fundamental right of freedom of religion and belief. However, the qualification of a statement as religious does not justify “hate speech.” The AUTHOR shows the tension between freedom of religion, freedom of expression, and protection against discrimination, and analyzes the decision against the backdrop of Article 17 of the ECHR (prohibition of abuse of rights).

Α Tool for Litigation Risk Analysis for Medical Liability Cases
No full textMistakes in the context of medical care can occur anywhere in the healthcare system. On the one hand, the doctrinal uncertainties, which lie at the heart of the current medical liability system, combined with the inherent uncertainty of medical science and the human body’s complexity, create an extremely “foggy” landscape. On the other hand, litigation is not always effective. Thus, it is essential to cope with the uncertainties in a reasoned way. This paper presents a tool for litigation risk analysis in medical liability cases which permits identification of the multiple uncertainties that will affect the potential outcome and the exploration of their interrelationships. The basic uses, purposes and features of the tool will be presented. In addition, its core advantages as well as and its aims, benefits and financial/social/scientific impact will be discussed
La tomba III di Haghios Athanasios e il valore semantico dell'incarnato
No full textThe tomb III at Haghios Athanasios stands out among the Macedonian tombs for the exceptional painted decoration of the temple-like façade. Excavated in the '90s by M. Tsimbidou-Avloniti it has been published by the scholar in full detail and the iconographic program of the monument has been the object of many publications. This article re-examines the different ways of reproducing the skin color (το ανδρείκελον) in the figures of the miniature frieze and in the megalographic figures beside the door. The realistic rendering of the megalographic figures of armed men in Macedonian attire, showing their sorrow for the lost of an etairos, is contrasting with the pale color of the participants to the symposion in the frieze above the door, a scene whose illusionistic overtone has been yet perceived by the critics. This symposion is articulated in three scenes and it can be interpeted as a necrodeipnon, but in the same time as a celebration of the Macedonian banquet style, centered on the royal court. The author suggests that the first figure on the right of the frieze, related to the group of armed men looking towards the banqueters feasting in the center of the frieze, can be read as the dead himself, for the particular rendering of his ανδρείκελον, showing the typical ochròtes or necròdes face color, according to the contemporary medical lexicon. The pathetic stance assumed by the same figure, the sole in the group which is not bearing arms, seems to confirm his role in the context of the scene

No full textLaser Acrobatics is a log book of experimental methods performed on a CO2 laser cutter from the perspective of the maker. It sprung from an unfulfilled personal need for more creative visual stimuli regarding the creative prospects of laser cutting technology. It is based on experiential learning through trial and error by testing material limits along with using the laser in “unorthodox” ways. Attempts which are usually classified as mistakes were purposefully documented as they may provide creative solutions to other disciplines. It is a record of possibilities which arise from popular processes as well as the “what nots” of laser cutters. It aims to complement mainstream information found in online discussion groups, commercial laser websites and books
