Urban music, youth and resistance : a journey through some underground sounds of Latin America
No full textMúsica urbana, juventud y resistencia analiza algunos sonidos underground que resisten y coexisten en diferentes contextos geopolíticos urbanos de Latinoamérica. A partir de la realidad de América Latina, se sostiene que las culturas juveniles han construido y les han dado significado a los sonidos underground, en espacios colonizados donde las desigualdades de género, raza y clase se muestran de diferentes maneras. Aunado a ello, las diversas perspectivas de este libro revelan las luchas contra el capitalismo y el neoliberalismo que se dan a través de la música, en concreto a partir de las escenas musicales y la consolidación de procesos de resistencia juvenil. Así, se postula la música como una herramienta política que permite a las juventudes construir territorios geopolíticos y afectivos, que conllevan transformaciones culturales y generacionales. A cantar e a viver sem medo no México: entrevista com Vivir Quintana
No full textVivir Quintana, trought her musical creative process, tells us about her experience in the Mexican music industry and her insertion into current feminist. Above all, her reflection leads us like a mirror to think about feminist activism, music as a political tool, and the importance of collective work to build bridges that allow to denounce and make visible the reality that women experience every day in a country like Mexico. At the end, she shares with us a bit of the creative process that frames “Canción sin miedo”, but above all, it is possible to see the importance of collective work, one of the most fundamental characteristics of current feminisms. In this interview, conducted remotely through the Zoom platform due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, Vivir shares a little bit of her life, her experience and the creative process that allowed her to acknowledge her feelings, emotions and thoughts about the context of violence and the high rates of femicides that are experienced in Mexico. This interview, rather than just a series of questions as a traditional way to do an interview, is the result of a dialogue with a female artist. We held a sensitive dialogue about her experience as a northerner, a way of identifying ourselves as originating from a state that is in the north of the country, living in Mexico City and as daughters of normalist (rural teachers’ college) parents. As an extra note, I must share that much of her experience was a mirror of the feelings and experiences that women live in this country.Vivir Quintana, a través de su proceso creativo musical, nos cuenta su experiencia en la industria de la música mexicana y su inserción en los feminismos actuales. Sobre todo, su reflexión nos lleva como espejo a pensar el activismo feminista, la música como una herramienta política y la importancia del trabajo colectivo para construir puentes que permitan denunciar y hacer visible la realidad que las mujeres cotidianamente experimentan en un país como México. Nos comparte al final un poco del proceso creativo que enmarca “Canción sin miedo”, pero sobre todo es posible ver la importancia del trabajo colectivo, una de las características fundamentales de los feminismos actuales. Mediante una entrevista realizada vía remota (por la plataforma Zoom) -debido a las condiciones de pandemia Covid-19 por las que actualmente pasamos en todo el mundo-, Vivir nos comparte un poco de su vida, de su experiencia y del proceso creativo que le permitió dar a conocer sus sentires, emociones y pensamiento sobre el contexto de violencia y los altos índices de feminicidios que se viven en México. El presente escrito, más que una serie de preguntas en un sistema de entrevista tradicional, es el resultado de un diálogo con una mujer artista. Sostuvimos un diálogo sensible sobre su experiencia como norteña, una manera de identificarnos como originaria de un estado que se encuentra al norte del país, viviendo en la Ciudad de México y como hija de padres normalistas, profesores de educación básica como profesión. Como una nota extra, debo compartir que mucha de su experiencia fue un espejeo de los sentires y las experiencias que las mujeres vivimos en este país. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. No full textWe have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
