Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Comparison of Students' Reasoning Skills between 'Numbered Head Together' and 'Think Pair Share' Based on Portfolio
Student reasoning skills for students are very significant to develop in solving
the mathematics problem. Several ways to improve the ability of Mathematics
reasoning is through NHT and TPS. The purposes of this study were to find out the
average competence of student’s reasoning skills between the Numbered Head
Together (NHT) and Think Pair Share (TPS) based on portfolio. The population of
this study was students of the elementary school teacher education department of Adi
Buana PGRI University of Surabaya, by using Cluster Random Sampling. The data
was collected by using test method. The data analyses were (1) T test of right side, to
examine the level of individual minimum score completeness; (2) Z test, to examine
the level of classical minimum score completeness; (3) T test the difference of
average, to examine the distinction of reasoning skills between the NHT and TPS
class. The result of the study showed that: (1) NHT class based portfolio had already
passed the minimum score although the students of experiment class; (2) TPS class
based portfolio had already passed the minimum score although the students of
experiment class; (3) score average of the student’s reasoning skills in TPS class
were better than score average of the student’s reasoning skills in NHT class
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Profil KemampuanPenalaran Mahasiswa PGSD UNIPA Surabaya dalam Memecahkan Masalah Matematika Sekolah
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan penalaran mahasiswa PGSD Universitas PGRI Adi Buana Surabaya dalam memecahkan masalah matematika sekolah. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif. Subjek yang digunakan adalah tiga orang mahasiswa yang diambil dari 38 mahasiswa, yaitu masing-masing satu mahasiswa berkemampuan matematika rendah, sedang, dan tinggi. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes tertulis dan wawancara. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tahapan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan simpulan. Hasil penelitian ini adalah (1) subjek berkemampuan tinggi mencapai enam indikator kemampuan penalaran, yaitu menyajikan pernyataan matematika secara lisan dan tertulis, mengajukan dugaan, melakukan manipulasi matematika, memberikan alasan terhadap kebenaran solusi, memeriksa kesahihan argument, dan menarik kesimpulan atau melakukan generalisasi. (2) subjek berkemampuan sedang mencapai empat indikator kemampuan penalaran, yaitu menyajikan pernyaatan matematika secara lisan dan tertulis, mengajukan dugaan, melakukan manipulasi matematika, dan memberikan alasan terhadap kebenaran solusi. (3) subjek berkemampuan rendah dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematika sekolah belum mencapai indikator kemampuan penalaran

PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN PEMECAHAN MASALAH MELALUI PENGEMBANGAN LEMBAR KEGIATAN SISWA (LKS) DENGAN PENDEKATAN SAINTIFIK
Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mendeskripsikan pengembangan Lembar Kegiatan Siswa (LKS) dengan pendekatan saintifik yang valid dan praktis; (2) mengetahui keefektifan pembelajaran menggunakan Lembar Kegiatan Siswa (LKS) dengan pendekatan saintifik terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa pada materi operasi aljabar. Jenis penelitian ini adalah Research and Development. Pengembangan Lembar Kegiatan Siswa (LKS) dilakukan dengan menggunakan model 4-D Thiagarajan, dkk, namun peneliti hanya menempuh 3D, yang terdiri atas define, design, dan develop. Subjek ujicoba penelitian ini dilakukan di kelas VIII SMPN 4 Taman. Hasil validasi perangkat pembelajaran dinyatakan valid menurut ahli karena diperoleh rata-rata validasi dalam rentang skor antara 1–4, yaitu 3,42. Lembar Kegiatan Siswa (LKS) yang dikembangkan praktis, karena setelah diujicobakan diperoleh hasil: (1) adanya respons positif dari siswa; (2) adanya respons yang baik dari guru; (3) keterlaksanaan pembelajaran pada kategori baik. Pembelajaran efektif pada kelas eksperimen karena setelah diujicobakan diperoleh hasil: (1) aktivitas siswa kelas uji coba berkategori baik; (2) rata-rata kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa kelas uji coba perangkat lebih baik dari kelas kontrol; (3) kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa telah mencapai ketuntasan klasikal. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengembangan Lembar Kegiatan Siswa (LKS) dengan pendekatan saintifik memenuhi kriteria valid, praktis, dan pembelajarannya efektif.
