    No full text
This contribution focuses on the collaboration between Anna Maria Ortese and the independent publisher Beppe Costa, who brought the author back into the publishing market in the 1980s after years of absence. It draws on a selection of unpublished letters written by Ortese to Costa between 1985 and 1986, a period of intense collaboration between the two. The letters highlight their common poetics and reveal their capacity for resilience in the face of the difficulties of everyday life and the literary market

Exposure-Tolerant Imaging Solution forCultural Heritage Monitoring

This paper describes a simple and cheap solution specifically designed for monitoring the degradation of thin coatings employed for metal protection. The proposed solution employs a commercial photocamera and a frequency-domain-based approach that is capable of highlighting the surface uniformity changes due to initial corrosion. Even though the proposed solution is specifically designed to monitor the long-time performance of protective coatings employed for the restoration of silver artifacts, it can be successfully used also for assessing the conservation state of other ancient metallic works of art. The proposed solution is made tolerant to exposure changes by using a procedure for sensor nonlinearity identification and correction, does not require a precise lighting control, and employs only free open-source software, so that its overall cost is very low and can be used also by not specifically trained operator

This contribution aims to illustrate some affinities between two Swiss-German writers from two different literary periods: Christian Kracht, a contemporary author particularly appreciated by critics, and Robert Walser, an eclectic writer of the Moderne. After a brief analysis of Kracht’s relationship with his motherland and its culture, the paper will move on to an examination of two ‘exemplary’ works by these authors – the novel Faserland and the ‘Prosastück’ Der Spaziergang –, focusing on highlighting evident similarities between these two texts and in general in the textual poetics and in the construction of authorial identity – in particular with regard to the Selbstinszenierung (self-staging) of the author both in fiction and reality – of these two Swiss writers

In the modern parish church of La Palma quarter, in Cagliari, is kept a beautiful devotional painting, a Marian icon, still unpublished. The author and period of realization are unknown. As regards iconography, the painting may derive from an old and venerated Roman prototype, the S. Maria in Portico icon, known as Portus Romanae Securitatis, kept at present in S. Maria in Campitelli. From an artistic, historical point of view, the dating of the picture could be ascribed to the first decades of the seventeenth century, during the Roman Counter Reformation period. The painting may be attributed to Giuseppe Valeriano and Scipione Pulzone school or to some of their followers

Geometrical proof: the mediation of a microworld

Abstract. From a didactic point of view, the introduction of a deductive approach presents two interwoven aspects to be developed: on the one hand the need of justification and on the other hand the idea of a theoretical system within which that justification may becomes a proof. Proof makes sense in respect to a theory and vice versa; thus, the introduction of a deductive approach presents two problems of sense, which are interrelated: the sense of proof and the sense of theory. Thus, the first difficulty the teacher has to overcome, is related to developing the need of a justification, and this contrasts with the intuitive approach to which pupils are used, the second difficulty is related to the possible cognitive rupture between argumentation, i.e. a set of arguments supporting the acceptance of a statement, and mathematical proof, validating a statement within a theory. After analysing the nature of these difficulties, the author discusses how it is possible to face these crucial educational issues presenting the choice of a specific "field of experience" (Boero et al., 1995): geometrical constructions within a particular Dynamic Geometry Environment (Cabri- géomètre
